Ohhhhh shit
I guess Tito cracked his skull again or something :/
To be brutally honest though, Chuck/ Tito III just isn’t a fight i’m interested in. Liddell/ Franklin has at least the appeal of being a matchup that hasn’t yet happened.
Franklin via (T)KO or UD
Supporting all Las Vegas MMA. Xtreme Couture- "The Best Never Rest!"
Go Gonzaga! G-O-N-Z-A-G-A
NOOOOOO...
I really wanted to see Tito/Chuck for a THIRD time.
This is the better match up. Chuck needs to actually train for this fight.
Figured they had too once tickets went on sale
False advertising and all that, if they knew Franklin was going to be in the match
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.
Why does it look like Franklin is wearing one of those Jakks UFC Fan Gloves?

Tons of people have 'confirmed' this weeks ago
The news here is the UFC officially announcing it despite denying ot several times.

Dude, i so hope chuck knocks him back to 195 pounds or whatever weight class he's from
Whilst it is interesting to fathom who would win i really just start to get sleepy whenever i see rich franklin in the octagon. Maybe it’s the pink & brown shorts-worst combination of two colours ever..

Probably should’ve waited until after Wednesday to release this info, considering the hype behind the TUF episode was “a cast member is leaving, who will it be?!”

I agree,
there goes all my excitement for this weeks show! So is chuck smashing the door down cos he’s pissed at tito for leaving? Or is he pissed he has to ko a nice wholesome guy instead of the turbo mouth dickhead ortiz?

There was a separate image referring to WEC 49 in Edmonton
but I left it out of this post.
The WEC has nothing to do with UFC 115.
So many questions.
Is there a separate WEC event being put on in Canada? Or are they just going to mention UFC/WEC together from now on so that WEC gets more recognition? Or are WEC fighters going to start showing up on UFC cards?

Shit, you got my hopes up
I thought it was the beginning of the long awaited merger.
Edmonton's an interesting choice.
Pride rules are legal in Edmonton.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Would have preferd Couture/Franklin but this is definatley better than seeing TIto in the cage again

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle
So two coaches have backed out of their fights in successive season? This is a more interesting fight though to be honest. Ace by UD.
wow
should be a good fight but neither of these guys are anywhere near any type of title contention let alone title shot.
gonna be cool to stream tho >.<

Well that’s disapointing, I really wanted to see Fraklin vs. Couture that’s always been a dream match for me. While Liddell vs. Franklin would have been great 2 years ago, Chuck is done now and this will be a pretty handy win for Rich. Add to the fact that seeing Chuck pummell Tito is always fun this isn’t really good news, but who knows Chuck does have heavy hands so maybe he can land something early like Vitor did and put Rich out because that’ll be the only chance he has to win nowadays.
i really don't think its a gimme for Rich....
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
Buyrates, my dear friend. With Lesnar/Carwin and Couture/Toney, the UFC might be trying to break 100’s record.
Quick question
How is it that Sylvia/Mercer is a “freak show fight” but Couture/Toney is considered a competitive matchup?
Long answer: Sylvia is a painfully mediocre stand-up fighter and Mercer is a way, way, waaaaaaaaaaay over the hill boxer. Couture on the other hand is Couture, and Toney is at least not as distanced from relevancy in the boxing world as Mercer is.
Short answer: The UFC is promoting it.
"Sometimes hype just ain't enough." - Jens Pulver on his win over BJ Penn
by lowellthehammer on Apr 12, 2010 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions
Mercer is an over-the-hill ex HW boxing champ with some mma and kickboxing experience with the power to end a fight with a single punch (proved that) who was matched up against a mma fighter who looked to stand, thus giving him a chance.
Toney is an over-the-hill ex boxing champ with zero mma experience, notorious for having little power and a rolling shoulder defense that is Ill-suited to defend against kicks and takedowns taking on an mma fighter that loves to take his opponent to the ground.
Which one seems like the more competitive matchup?
by John Nash on Apr 12, 2010 10:49 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
The correct answer is… Sylvia/Mercer was just a shit fight, not a freak show.

Busted meaning damage in fights?
Or busted for PED use? Because he’s way more busted on the latter.

as with all things in life, there are levels of freak show.
this is a freak show, but to reach Sylvia/mercer, it needs to get rejected by an athletic commission, moved a few times, and switched from boxing to mma the day before to reach the full level of that disaster. Which I still think was more of a bad idea than a freak show.
Wow, nice undercard...
Looking at the other card, if all those fights come through, that’s going to be a badass show!
When you’ve got these fights probably airing as dark matches:
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald*
Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel*
Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman*
The card is pretty strong.
Condit/Macdonald is confirmed for the main card.
I highly doubt they would shunt the only Canadians on the card (Macdonald and Claude Patrick) to the prelims. Condit has enough of a following from the WEC and two great UFC fights to be on the main card.
UFC is to Larry Fitzgerald as Strikeforce is to Plaxico Burress. One is the most dominant in their league, while the other shoots itself in the midst of progress.
They’ve confirmed ten fights on the UFC site with no mention of Fitch vs Alves on there with five main card fights confirmed. Wonder if they’ve moved that fight to 116?
Dana’s way of making up to the fans??? lol

I like UFC 115, but I think they can afford to lose Fitch/Alves to UFC 116.

Look how stacked this card is
Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel is on the prelim card.
BTW I hope you guys know that there won’t be any UFC 113 prelims.

If you read the article it says that in 2011 prelims before PPVs could be a regular feature.
As in, just about every UFC PPV will come with free fights on Spike.

Other than the winner of Fitch/Alves being one step closer to a title shot (AKA another GSP loss)
Paulo Thiago slowly climbing up the ranks as a WW contender, Tyson Griffin/Evan Dunham looking to make their case as a lightweight contender, and Rory Macdonald looking to beat a tough and seasoned veteran in Carlos Condit to prove he’s a very good prospect……this card is irrelevant.

exactly
I follow the sport because I love the sport. Title or contender picture bouts are just bonuses. Some of the best matches ever have been completely irrelevant if rankings are what you care about. Also, a dramatic and exciting fight will MAKE a matchup relevant even if it didn’t seem to be going in.

This should be the main card, but it's not-
Liddell v.s. Franklin
Alves v.s. Fitch
Barry v.s. Cro Cop
Kampmann v.s. Thiago
Dunham v.s. Griffin
Condit v.s. MacDonald-SPIKE
Rothwell v.s. Yvel-SPIKE
I like
this much better than than frikkin Tito/Chuck 3. I do feel sorry for Chuck, though. I got Franklin by KO round 2.

Same.
It is a much better fight, but, while he’d never say it himself, Chuck could do with a easier comeback fight. If he loses this by KO the whole retirement issue will come right back.

While I like the idea of this fight being a fan of both guys, I just don’t like Mirko’s chances against Barry…

But yeah, a lot of great fights on this card.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

Why are Mirko and Ben on the same card and not fighting?
That makes no sense. Also who wants to bet after watching film on the last UFC Randy (arrogant ass) Couture thinks he has a gameplan to beat Silva and wants that fight? This dude annoys me.
Roman from South Jersey, here for two things chewing bubble gum and kicking ass and I'm all out of bubble gum!
It's going to be a war... Trust me.
I Much rather see this fight, Its something new and more interesting then Chuck/Tito 3. I Think it will be alot better then 2 people think. There 2 older legends but i think its going to be similar to Chuck vs Wand and Wand vs Rich.
