Regular season is over
And the NBA season ends on Wed. That should help tremendously.
Of course now it’s baseball season…
Askren/Thomas is a really interesting fight. Thomas isn’t great but he’s far above the level that Ben has faced thus far, and presents a lot of danger.
I’ve been saying for some time now that I really like Shad to upset Reis. It’s clear what you need to do to beat Reis and Shad has exactly the right tools to do it. He is tough, he can use his length to keep Reis away, and his wrestling is good enough to avoid the so-so shots of Wilson.
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire vs. William Romero is an absolute motherfucker of a fight.
Ricci should run over Curran but it’s going to be interesting to watch how Ricci handles a slightly bigger stage.

I’m curious — Do you think Askren has a [good/fair/poor] shot of winning the tournament? I’ve been pretty high on him; you could argue he may have the highest composite BJJ / wrestling pedigree, on paper at least, of anyone in MMA. His striking is abysmal though from what I’ve seen.

He’s good, but I’d be shocked if he won this tournament. This is a really high level tournament and he absolutely has a shot but I think he’s a little too inexperienced for this tournament right now.

I’d be shocked if Askren could beat Hornbuckle. Thomas will be a tough test right off the bat as well.

Due to a case of appendicitis, lightweight tournament competitor Ferrid Kheder has been forced out of the eight-man field and has been replaced by WEC veteran James Krause. His bout with Toby Imada – originally slated for Bellator 15 – is now part of Bellator 14.
To make room, a planned Bellator 14 featherweight tourney bout between Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and William Romero has been moved to next week’s Bellator 15 event.
