Rafeal Dos Anjos armbarred Terry Etim for a submission win in the second round at UFC 112.
Two lightweights coming in on winning streaks -- Rafael Dos Anjos (2 straight) and Terry Etim (4 straight) -- met in the outdoor arena at UFC 112. A win could propel someone into serious contention.
About a minute into the fight Terry Etim caught caught Rafael Dos Anjos in a very tight guillotine but the Brazilian hung on. Then Dos Anjos escaped and Dos Anjos quickly took Grove down and began throwing hard knees to Etim's back. Then the ref stepped in and warned Dos Anjos about hitting Grove in the spine and after a restart then stopped Dos Anjos and stood them up. This will be a controversial call.
After the restart Dos Anjos pulled guard and worked to get a submission, attacking both Etim's legs and arms.
In the second, Dos Anjos got a take down after some indecisive sparring on the feet. He established side control and then worked for mount. Etim grappled gamely as Dos Anjos threatened from the top. Hard elbows from the Brazilian scored on Etim. Then Dos Anjos spun quickly into mount, but Etim got half guard after a nice scramble. Then some extensive north south grappling went on. Dos Anjos attacked Etim's arms and got the fateful arm bar.
