Seconded.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is driving......right into a brick wall at the end of the tunnel.
I was hoping for Thiago-Daley
but I’ll take this in the interim.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Nothing easy for Paulo. Throw the guy a bone already.

I had the same mindset about Paulo Thiago, but now that he has beaten Koscheck, Volkmann, and Swick recently by devastating fashion, he has more than proven himself that he needs to fight higher caliber Welterweights. As far as this fight with Kampmann goes, stylistically, Paulo has shown that he has more power in his standup and may have better BJJ (Kampmann has very good BJJ himself, so it may be a wash). In my opinion, I think that the wrestling advantage goes to Kampmann. I have to go with Paulo Thiago winning this one, and if he does, I do feel that with a list of wins over Koscheck, Volkmann, Swick, and if he beats Kampmann, then he should get a Title shot.
I could see him fighting the winner of Koscheck/Daley, and the winner of that getting a title fight. Although, they might not want to waste an opponent like that. But if GSP is moving up, I can see that fight as his last in the division.

It weirds me out when people say this
It seems to me like a roundabout way of saying that the fighter in question isn’t on the level of the people he is fighting, and should be fighting lesser opposition, whether or not he’s winning.
Thiago has proven himself against a number of tough opposition, and I think this is precisely the sort of opposition he should be up against.
I thought Thago beat Swick via d’arce choke?
What’s the difference between the two, BJJ experts?

Great matchup
The more I see of Thiago, the more I like him. Should be a contender by the end of the year at the rate he’s going.
I agree...
I hate to “rush” guys into a fight with St. Pierre but if he keeps destroyind top flight competition, so be it.
If he beats Kapmann, which I think he will, he should fight the winner of Koscheck/Daley for a # 1 contender. Although Koscheck Daley very likely is a # 1 contender match.

I think Paulo actually has better striking AND submissions
and I see PT beating a title shot out of Kampmann with this win

I was hoping we’d see a step up in comp for Thiago after destroying Swick, but I’ll take it.

Fantastic.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is driving......right into a brick wall at the end of the tunnel.
Wiman vs. Danzig?
Say goodbye to the UFC, Danzig.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is driving......right into a brick wall at the end of the tunnel.
Yeah, Danzig really lost it especially if he was having a tough time with Bucholz (no offense to Bucholz, but he is in the lower tier of UFC Lightweights). If Danzig fought Wiman after beating Bocek instead of getting three tough fights in a row in Guida, then Neer, then Jim Miller, then I would have picked Danzig to win. However, Danzig doesn’t seem to be all there these days, so I am going with Wiman to win this.
You know this card is good
When the prelims could include Carlos Condit, and the Rothwell/Yvel fight. So so sick.

Me Likey - War Paulo!
Of mutual opponents, Kampmann finished Volkmann, while Thiago decisioned (and arguably lost to) him.

i cant see kampmann winning this
sure hes a tough fighter but hes in the middle of the pack at ww while paulo looks like he can compete with gsp fitch and alves to be right at the top of the division, paulo wins by whatever he wants here
hold on there buddy
dont misquote me i clearly said “paulo looks like he can compete with gsp fitch and alves to be right at the top of the division”
do i think he can beat gsp? no i dont think anyone at ww can not even fitch or alves the #2 or #3 in the division could come remotely close. but i do think he can be competetive enough to be considered one of the best in the division possibly beating alves or fitch in the future to be ranked at the 2nd or 3rd slot
The way you quoted is criminal.
Cut right in the middle to make him sound ridiculous, MMA journalism 101.

Thiago takes this fight against Kampmann
If he wins at 115, he may be thrown into a title shot. WW title is 111, but probably also 116-ish. He may end up fighting whoever wins the 116ish title fight around 120/121. I’d rather he fight Kampmann then one more before a title shot, but the scheduling doesn’t seem to be there.
I called Wiman-Danzig
A few weeks ago…they’re very similar fighters but I give an edge to Wiman.

Other than GSP, Thiago has the toughest schedule at WW.
