That first promo video gets an A+. Excellent hype package. This card, or at least the top 3 fights, really look amazing.

Is this the full version of Countdown (the one broadcast on Vs)? Or just the abbreviated online edition? Either way, I’m in. Great card.

I think we might see every prelim from this card.

its kind of ironic for Jones to be fighting Vera because ust a couple years ago it was Vera who was the most talked about prospect in the game,

Is it just me

or does Vera seem like he’s trying to convince himself that he’s going to be a champion in that first promo?

by LikeTheWhiskey on Mar 9, 2010 10:32 PM EST up reply actions

Yea I dont think even he believes that. Dont get me wrong hes still a very talented fighter but he seems to have lost that " it " factor.

I don’t think it’s the best free card the UFC has offered but it’s close we’ll see how the fights are but it should be fireworks.

What's been better?

I’m not saying it definitively is, but which event surpass it in your mind?

UFC 75

Title unification bout between rampage and hendo, cro cop vs kongo, bisping vs hammill, then houston alexander knocking out sakara. Was a pretty good free card. I am loving this one though. Some great competitive fights and I can’t wait!

If Cigano wins against Gonzaga then JDS vs. Velasuez is inevitable, that would be (to quote Joe Rogan) a barn burner and potential fight of the year candidate.

by fred042 on Mar 10, 2010 4:27 AM EST reply actions

I may be in the minority, but I think that would make for Cain’s first loss. JDS has some excellent hands…

by Ryjo on Mar 14, 2010 1:49 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah but Cain has excellent wrestling. Kongo has great standup and we saw what happened when he went against Cain. Difference here is that we haven’t really gotten to see JDS ground game..

Just wish I could see this fight....

Seriously. DirecTv and Comcast just need to get this settled.

this fight looks like fireworks in the making

Actually the whole televised card shouldnt be dissappointing

all you gotta do is...

Fun Card.

Looks to be an exciting night. If these next PPV’s end up to have sagging numbers as well, the UFC needs to recreate the magic that they had on the TUF 1 finale. A card like this is what it’ll take, just need enough people watching. They have enough name power to bring in the views…if they put Brock Lesnar on free TV, I think that would solve problems REAL quick.

I sort of wish that Dos Santos doesn’t have to fight Gonzaga. I expect him to win but Gonzaga of course is dangerous and I easily see him winning which would ruin a Dos Santos Velasques fight which would be something that I’d get real excited about.

Something about Brandon these days. Not sure what it is, I sort of like him, and I sort of can’t stand him, and I have no idea why.

by Dooda on Mar 14, 2010 1:50 AM EST reply actions

If Kongo and JDS both win..

I want to see them fight. Actually no matter what, I want to see them fight. Unless Kongo got knocked out by Buentello. That would make it less intruiging.

by RyanHobbs on Mar 14, 2010 4:06 AM EST reply actions

I think there’s value in Vera at +200. He’s never been closed to being stopped except for that early one against a much larger Werdum. I dont think there is a compelling reason to think it will happen against Jones. I’m totally on the Jones hype train but I think he is still a little to green to get a tko or sub over Vera. Vera could end up outstriking Jones or even fight for a couple takedowns himself.
JDS has to be a lock here right? i think so.
Yes! a JDS v. Kongo is an excellent fight. He’ll finally have a reason to work a ground game
