Ricardo Lamas' flying knee KO at WEC 47 (video)
Not great quality but definitely gives you an idea of how brutal the KO was.

Wow.
They should have had 2 Knockout of the Night bonuses for this event. That’s just as good as the Pettis KO. Looked like something out of Undisputed w/ the mouth piece getting launched.

Totally unnecessary extra shot at the end.
Ricardo Lamas, I name you and Marlon Sandro as co-Douchebags of the Weekend.
Totally agrees. Ridiculous.
Too bad all fighters can’t follow the example set by Mousassi against Babalu..
I understand what your saying...
but these guys are making peanuts and if there is a 10k KOTN bonus I’m going to keep going until that ref pulls me off.
Welcome to the fight game. You hit the guy until the ref pulls you off. Sure, it’s not pretty sometimes but it’s part of the business.
Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia
Jens Pulver vs. John Lewis, or Fedor vs. Arlovski – if the guy is completely unconscious, you don’t just keep wailing away because the ref is taking his sweet-ass time to stop it.
There’s a big difference between a TKO where the ref stops it too late and a KO where someone is completely unconscious.
Welcome to the fight game.

There’s a lot more factors going into it than just “this guy is wrong for punching the unconscious fighter again!” That’s all I’m saying.
Sometimes the guys have serious momentum behind them (like Lamas or Dan Henderson vs. Bisping) and they throw their fists at them. Sometimes the ref isn’t close enough to alert the fighter to stop. The fighters are told in the back (by the referee) to continue hitting a guy until the ref informs them to stop. That’s why you see the Spencer Fisher/Matt Wiman fight and Fisher says “I’m sorry” to Big John, he says he’s sorry because he’s told to stay on him until the ref steps in.
In this fight, the ref kind of hesitated and Lamas made the move to put in another punch. I’m not saying it’s a good thing but that’s the truth.
key word "Fight" game
although I dont think it is necessary to wail on people when they are completly unconcious; it’s a fight and adreneline makes people do weird things.
I don’t encourage it by any means, but to frown upon extra hits that are made before the ref pulls you off doesn’t make any sense to me.

Isn't Youtube fun?
it makes sense because you are punching a helpless person
marquardt and maia is perfect example of a professional fighter. and secondly, its not a fight nor a game, its an athletic competition between two opponents, otherwise known as a sport
ufc fan boy all the way
some people fight with their emotions
it’s just not as simple as “He didn’t stop punching the guy after he knocked him out? What a dick.”
The point is that this isn’t like other sports, it’s still a fight. No matter how you say it when it comes down to it MMA is the sport of fighting.

Sick!
Better than Pettis KO.
I'm gonna make a bold prediction here and say Cain "pillowhands" (as some of you have called him) lol Velasquez catches Nog right on the chin and finishes via strikes on the ground. Nog looked good against an old Randy. It didn't show me much. We’ll see.
