Six months ago, Lavar Johnson lay in a hospital bed, clinging to his life after he was gunned down while attending a family barbeque during the July 4 holiday. On Friday, March 26, the 32-year-old will enter a new chapter in his incredible recovery when he restarts his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career in the main event of a STRIKEFORCE Challengers fight card at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Women's MMA is WAY too small right now
Strikeforce really shouldn’t bother with it. Especially on TV. Sure, there might be a great fight here and there, but then what? Where does the winner go, who do they fight next? Women’s MMA is about 10 years from being viable IMO.
Right, cause the way to grow the sport is not to bother putting any time or money into it.
If Strikeforce puts the effort into developing women’s MMA when no one else does, they get in at the ground floor on an emerging market. If at worst they break even on the whole deal, then they get exposure for something that no one else is doing which just helps the rest of their product. And god knows if they were worried about the quality of the fights hurting the overall quality of their shows they wouldn’t have anyone fighting Ambriz or Sims on television.

Respectable card
Just looking at most of these fighters’ records, and seeing that many of them haven’t had 10 fights yet really shows that there are many prospects on the card, which is fine with me because I feel that is what these Challengers cards should be. As far as how the actual fights go, just seeing the fighters’ lack of experience, my expectations won’t be that high.
This is a very good card...
Stoked to see Galvao vs Stewart, Wilcox vs Travers, Frausto vs Tate should be good, and looking foward to seeing the return of Johnson, and seeing how Abongo will do?
Wow this is actually a decent lineup. Maybe it’ll make up for the abomination that was the last challengers card. Hope they don’t get the same god awful refs as last time, they really fucked things up.

bellator has up and coming fighters
strikeforce challengers has low level fighters who will never be threats in their divison nothing about this card excites me

got the notice on my on demand thing this morning, but it didn’t even occur to me that there were fights this weekend. never watched a showtime card before.
The chances of this happening are probably zero..
but it would be awesome if Bush was introduced as “a veteran of the YAMMA”.

Frausto looked good against Helsper, but I’m not sold on her yet.
Her opponents have a combined record of 3-9. Tate should steamroll her.
This is a HUGE step up in competition. This is rookie entering into the UFC and getting fed to Gray Maynard type stuff right here.
