I thought WAMMA was defunct now?

by MMAGuard on Mar 30, 2010 12:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Some dude on Sherdog took a trip to one of their office and it was basically deserted.

by MMAGuard on Mar 30, 2010 12:45 PM EDT up reply actions

after that they put out new rankings and somehow managed to gather enough funds to come up with that belt on the top for his last fight, but their rankings haven’t been updated for a while, once again.

by Phildo on Mar 30, 2010 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Either way, can’t blame Fedor for hanging onto the belt. Defunct or not, that’s a fairly spectacular piece.

by Monday Morning Martial Artist on Mar 30, 2010 1:48 PM EDT up reply actions

It's an imaginary belt

Brock Lesnar has the real one.

Get rid of the ramp!

Brock beat Fedor?

I thought Fedor was above these things.

I would have figured he would have given his belt to the bear he battled, in recognition of a worthy adversary.

That ain’t cool, a little kid made that belt. But yeah, that’s a rec.

by Skoobs on Mar 30, 2010 11:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought you received a new belt every time you defended it?

by WestbergIDFC on Mar 30, 2010 1:10 PM EDT reply actions

I think I heard you get to keep your own belt once you have succesfully defended it once. Example, Forrest Griffin does not have a belt of his own. Neither does Rashad. Rampage does have his own belt since he’s defended.

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."

by xFenixKnightx on Mar 30, 2010 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Rashad does own his own title belt

He mentioned it on MMA Live. I can’t remember why he got to keep it though.

by Holls Hoyce on Mar 30, 2010 1:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn’t give it back either I’d be like “I lost it”

by nogroundgame on Mar 30, 2010 1:47 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Wrong

Once you win a belt, it is yours to keep. Every time you defend it, they issue a new one.

Hence, Ricco Rodriguez trying to sell his UFC belt on Ebay a little while back..

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."

by xFenixKnightx on Mar 30, 2010 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions

no, i think you just get a belt every time you win a title match, and there’s a new belt for every match.

Ricco never defended it and had one to sell on ebay

So Wamma gave him 2 belts? The belt on the top shelf and bottom shelf are both wamma. I wonder if he gets to keep the one on top but give the bottom one back if he ever loses.

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."

by xFenixKnightx on Mar 30, 2010 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

If GSP was a chessmaster, he would play the French Defense

Why didn’t I ever think of this before? A cautious, slow, opening that takes few risks but is fundamentally sound, and offers several opportunities for positional traps against an over-aggressive opponent…that’s GSP to a T.

…and, ya know…because he’s French-Canadian.

They are at a Jiffy Lube.

That green color is what happens to high mileage oil if you don’t get it changed regularly. Fedor hasn’t been training until recently, and this is the first step of his conditioning.
