Dan Henderson Says "It's All Business Once I Get in the Cage" Against Jake Shields

"Getting in shape; you know it's been since July since I fought so I've been training here and there but not steadily, so just making sure that I'm going to be in great shape for this fight. That's my focus right now and then the next couple weeks we'll start formulating a game plan."

"Well obviously Jake Shields is kind of known to just take guys down and try to submit them or beat them by controlling, so I need to work on avoiding that. You know the fans, I appreciate all their support in thinking I'm going to beat Shields up but he's still dangerous and I don't want to overlook anybody and I just got to make sure I prepare like I've prepared for anybody else that's a champ at their weight class. He's obviously finished a lot of guys and like I said I just want to be careful and he's dangerous."

"Yeah Jake and I hung out a little bit in Vegas last week at the Magic Show and had a drink or two with him. Beyond that, it's all business once we get in the cage. I'm friends with everybody almost."

"My goal for this year is to win all my fights. Just be in great shape and not lose. I am excited to be fighting in Strikeforce for one and CBS and possibly on Showtime. And to have a title fight my first fight in here against Jake Shields that's very exciting for me and something that's really going to motivate me in my training."

"Thanks for all the support and check out clinchgear.com."

I think Dan meant...
“My goal for this year is to win all my fights. Just be in great shape and not lose. And hopefully get back into the UFC when my contract with Strikeforce ends.”

You have to be the man... you have to be very, like, alpha male with her. You know? Decide what you do and everything. So, show her who's the boss, you know? - GSP

If decision dan returns this is going to turn into a catastrofuck of BORING

"So I put 2 and 2 together and decided that your pissing me off" "Here. Its a fruit roll up. I was gonna make you a casserole for your loss but uh... I didnt"

I can only remember a british guys face getting crushed.

That's why I said "if he returns"

Which is a possibility against shields.

I see Henderson utilizing the sprawl and brawl style on Shields. Shields’ strength is in his BJJ but his standup is not very good, so I can see Dan wanting to keep the fight standing up (similar to the Henderson vs Palhares fight). With Shields being a natural Welterweight, he may not have the power to really do anything in the standup or take Henderson down. On the other hand, Henderson has the skill and power to take the fight wherever he wants or finish the fight.

Strikeforce would be better served making King Mo vs Moussasi the main event on this card.

by Worldisart on Mar 3, 2010 10:18 AM EST up reply actions

Dan Henderson is the only established name.

Plus Sheilds was on the last CBS card. I know Mousasi was too, but most people outside of the hardcores don’t know who King Mo is. This event will be a major coming out party for either Lawal or Mousasi though. Strikeforce needs to make a new star (in the eyes of the public) to build their organization around.

Shields didn’t exactly burn the house down the last time on CBS.

by Worldisart on Mar 3, 2010 11:16 AM EST up reply actions

I never said he was, but he was there... Lawal wasn't

Hendo is currently bigger than Mousasi and Shields is more known that Lawal that i.s all

The big question is, who shows up? “Hollywood” Henderson? Or “Decision” Dan?

by Worldisart on Mar 3, 2010 10:17 AM EST reply actions

after the recent announcements from SFs,

i just hope there wont be any news about injuries, drug testing and bar fights.
im pumped for April and May CBS cards.

I think people are sleeping on Shields. I haven’t heard anyone say Shields has a shot. Talk about hindsight bias. Hendo KTFOs Bisping and now he’s indestructible. Shields has sick wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Looking forward to the betting line…

He doesn’t have size on hendo and I don’t see him using his size disadvantage to take Hendo down. Hendo won’t want to go to the ground because he has such an advantage standing and if he can get Hendo down (thats a big if) I see Hendo being able to get up. Its all hendo in my book, even if you forget the Bisping fight ever happened.

Yeah…NO WAY Shields can just hold Dan down like he did Miller. Wont happen. And Shields chance of KOing Dan…0.

He better hope for a sub if anything

I think he has a shot. In fact I believe he would win if they were the same size, just the size difference has me worried.
