We are in the aftermath of the GSP v Hardy fight; the dust has settled and the Sherdog forum is flooded with the cries of 'GSP is a boring fighter'. However, I would just like to point out one under-appreciated observation from last night's fight - the resilience of Dan Hardy.
GSP stated throughout the Primetime shows and in various interviews that he was the 'biggest, fastest and strongest GSP' he had ever been. Many fans (admittedly including myself) expected this 'new' GSP to demolish Hardy within the first few rounds. However, Hardy proved many of us wrong. Despite being dominated for 5 rounds of 5 minutes, Hardy showed his grit and determination and hung in there. He escaped two submissions which were painful just to look at. He survived 5 rounds with a 'new and improved GSP'.
Hardy wanted to be noticed before the fight. He was brash, loud and arrogant in his interviews. He's going to be noticed alot more in the welterweight division now, and it won't just be because of his character. I'm looking forward to seeing him fight again, hopefully with improvements made in his game.
