Is this Carwin’s first knockout of the night bonus?

That is correct
But a fact that people forget is this was only Shane’s 4th UFC fight.
bocek/miller was the rightful FOTN winner
also just read on junkie that palhares got a 90 day suspension from the commission, for not releasing the submission. didn’t realize they had the ability to punish fighters for that. though 90 days in a state he’ll probably not fight in again, is sort of meaningless

Yeah but Babalu also was happy that he did it
During his post-fight interview, Sobral told UFC color analyst Joe Rogan that he was aware that Heath had tapped, but “he (Heath) has to learn respect. He deserved that. He called me ‘motherfucker’.”3 In his dressing room after the fight, Sobral spoke to Las Vegas Journal-Review columnist Ed Graney. Sobral then mocked the crowd for booing him, saying “The crowd didn’t like it? Who cares? At least they had a reaction.”3
Remember Babalu
After UFC 74 when he held the choke too long the NSAC fined him 25k of his 50k purse
Huh…I didn’t even think he held it that long. What a rip.

It was an extra 5 seconds (by Rogan's count) of a tree stump trying to twist off Drwal's foot.
Realistically, it’s not like he’ll be fighting again in 90 days, so he’s not suspended from anything. It’s more to show that you should let up if your opponent is screaming in agony. A heel hook is easy to overcrank & cause major damage.

Joe, counting to four, at a much faster clip than a second, in slow motion, is five seconds?
He probably should have released immediately, but it was much closer to two seconds.

Fair enough – I could easily have misunderstood (bar was noisy). I still think he should have released such a dangerous submission right upon tapping. It’s too easy to wreck an ankle.

I think this is less Palhares’ fault and more the referees fault for being out of position. You fight until the ref pulls you off.

I disagree.
I think that theory applies to strikes, but not subs.
There’s no official rule, but I think if a guy’s tapping, and especially if it’s a dangerous submission like a heel hook, you let go immediately, regardless of what the ref’s doing. The idea is that, unless it’s a sub that was locked on in a flash, the ref should be in position waiting to see if there’s a tap.
I can see that. Good talk.

I think it was the extra torque he gave it when the ref came over. I mean he obviously had it locked up. He could have slowly turned it to get the tap.
I guess I can see it from Palhares view too though. He wants to end the fight and if he tries to torque it slowly he might have escaped. I think he was just caught up in the moment. Which is kind of a shame because it IS fighting, shit happens.

man Rodney Wallace and Jared Hamman.. Dammm those two sure went at it for lhw’s . I was surprised they had the gas in the tank to keep scrambling in the third.
two guys bumbling around in the cage making embarrassing technical mistakes all fight. But hey, the fans want to see ppl swingin’ for the fences… FOTN yee haw!

Yeah, that’s how I felt. I thought Miller/Bocek was the better fight, atleast technically.

I love how this accurately communicates exactly how you feel. What an awesome image.

Didn’t much care for the Hamman/Wallace fight, but it was actually back and forth as opposed to pretty much every other fight on the card, and the lesser paid dudes earn themselves some nice green.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
Actually, on reflection, what the crap am I talking aboot? Damn Hamman/Wallace to hell, the fight FOTN should have gone to Miller/Bocek.
