UFC 111 Results: Ricardo Almeida Successful in Welterweight Debut, Chokes Out Matt Brown
Matt Brown asked for the Renzo Gracie fight, instead he got Renzo's protege Ricardo Almeida. Almeida made his debut at the weight and called the cut "hell" in the post-fight interview.
Almeida utilized a grueling strategy, relentlessly looking for the takedown from the opening bell. Brown proved difficult to takedown and keep down, finding success wall walking back to his feet.
After a slow first round with lots of clinch work against the fence, Almeida continued the pattern to open round two. But when the "Big Dog" caught a Brown leg kick, the tide of the fight shifted. Almeida knocked Brown down with a well placed elbow and proceeded to take his back. Brown did his best to scramble out of the position, but Almeida showcased his high level jiu jitsu, regained back control, and locked on a body triangle. Moments later, he had applied a rear naked choke and forced Brown to tap.

Nice win for Almeida but Matt Brown looked scared to throw and was really outclassed in this fight which was pretty disapointing.
Sure thing, one of two guys that were super geeked about Brown winning this fight the other day
