Looks like a UFC game should.
Not a quickly shit out, please-save-my-floundering-company-with-your-branding thing like 2009 was.

that is still the best MMA game there is...
until the release of this year’s games….
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
So what?
There’s a reason you say it’s the best, a relative term, rather than good. You can have the best herpes outbreak because it was minor, looked like a an allergy rash, and went away quickly. Being better than other herpes outbreaks doesn’t mean it’s a good thing.
The first game was rushed and severely lacking. They were straight up sloppy in developing it. This year seems to be a game worthy of the UFC branding.

So you’d rather wait a year rather then have 09? that’s delusional. It wasnt good enough? 09 sold over 3 and a half million copies for a reason.
It sold three and a half million copies for one reason
and that is the strength of the branding. I’ll support your [assumed] employers on this one without any question. Zuffa has done an AMAZING job growing their brand and it’s name.
THQ did a shitty job the first time around though, and this time they are finally getting it right. Not having cage work, head movement, southpaws, more than six styles, or individuality, and the initial online bugs was fucking amateur. This years gameplay looks to be worthy of the UFC brand. Last years fell way short.

There was a demo of the game last year… if it wasn’t good enough then I dont care how strong the brand is there’s no way it would have sold that many copies. You’re just whining. If this version came out last year you’d have another 10 items on your list to bitch about.
I would not.
Last years was amateur as fuck. And I know arguing with you on this is like arguing with a brick wall, so I won’t try to convince you. This year they ironed out the mistakes of UFC Demo 2009 (which is the only real thing to reasonably call last years game) and made a game worthy of the name UFC. There’s still a ton of features that would be cool (PRIDE rules option with a ring, open weight, WEC fighters) but none of those are necessary to a quality game. The rest of the things I mentioned are. UFC Undisputed looks like it will be a good game. Demo 2009 was lacking at best.

logic, what he’s saying is that they took shortcuts because they didn’t have the money or time to develop it…it was still a good game, just not a great one. There was huge room for improvement, which they seem to have made. But stuff like no south paws because it fucked up clipping is a valid complaint.
The game was good but a lot of the initial hype was due to the UFC brand. That it continued to sell well may have been due to talk or because of price drop.

I dunno. I thought it was a great game.
I think the reason it continued to sell well, was that it was a great game. Initial hype may have been to the UFC brand, but a game doesn’t sell as well as it did without it actually being a great game. Good word of mouth is a result of a great product, and people were talking about this a lot. The fact that it was the only MMA game out and that there’s nothing to really compare it to doesn’t diminish the fact that it was and is a great game.

It was a good game…but I agree with pdl that it was rushed. THQ was going out to business and needed to produce the game. That is well known at this point. I think the shortcuts taken with the menus and career mode as with the clipping with south paws were just things they skipped to get it out.
They have improved this apparently in the new game. I feel bad for EA because they have so much ground to make up by not having a year to find out what people didn’t like.

it was rushed...
but when My 46 year old mother, is sitting down… learning MMA…. and UFC fighters through the game…. then it was a pretty good game. She watches the fights now, and is anticipating things like triangles, and wondering why certain fighters don’t throw leg kicks, etc… Mostly because of the game.
It wasn’t perfect, as most games aren’t…. but its still a fun game with its flaws, and the people I know, who are far from being “fans” of the sport… liked playing it.

I agree, all I’m saying is that there was a lot to improve upon and that it was rushed. But yes, it definitely opened up eyes for non UFC fan gamers and was a medium to educate on grappling and fighters.
I’m excited for 2010.

I'm excited for this and EA's game...
thats another reason why I think that the effect of releasing the game early outweighs its flaws.. now EA is making a move for the market… all of these things are good for the sport…
Also, your earlier point in regards to improvements based around input of the fans, is an advantage of releasing earlier…. rather than hoping to survive, while fine tuning each nuance of the game… I think we have to be forgiving and practical some times as fans, so most of what I said was meant to be towards those with harsh criticism for the initial iteration of Undisputed, and not you.
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
the game was still a good MMA game....
Some of the worst things about it were lack of the small things
menus, cage use, lefty, etc…. it was still quite fun.

lol.

Was that the old WFA logo on the ring floor at one point? Maybe that will be some sort of developmental league in the career mode.
I was wondering the same thing.
I thought the WFA was done for when Dana White rolled those fighters into the UFC.
Maybe it is a “developmental” thing for the game. we’ll see in a few months.
Honestly, resurrecting the WFA name/logo as a developmental league in real life—assuming they ever integrate WEC into the UFC—wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
Especially since World Fighting Alliance is a way better name than stupid-ass “World Extreme Cagefighting.” (Although WEC is a far less stupid promotion in practice.)
Yep, your fighter starts off in the WFA and works his way to the UFC.

I has hoping for a career mode starting off in The Ultimate Fighter with a getting drunk and shaving somebodies eyebrows mini-game.

ewww only thing that stood out negatively for me was the “shine” thing. Rotating the stick for submissions and no more button mashing. I button mashed in 2009 because rotating the stick pretty much broke 2 PS3 controllers for me. I guess it works better for 360 since the thumbsticks feel more durable.
I didnt know if anyone noticed but there was a screen behind the producer guy with a trainer saying “i have been talking to dana and I think you could try changing divisions”
YUS!!!
That’s fucking sick. I got tired of my guy having to fight the same 5 fighters or so endlessly as those were the only ones remotely in championship contention. I don’t see many fans liking a 6 time fight with BJ Penn

Hopefully in career mode fighters actually age and you get to retire when you want instead of having Dana push you out.
Do you mind if we dance with your dates?
In Morey We Trust.
I believe there was an interview confirming they do age.

![Low UFC Undisputed 2010 sales force THQ to reduce its financial forecasts: [down $35m net sales]
"Unfortunately, total sell through to date has been below our expectations and prior-year results. We will continue to drive demand through a strong marketing campaign and by working with our partners at the UFC, including the upcoming July 4th UFC 116 event featuring our cover athlete, Brock Lesnar.
"While we are disappointed with this financial update, we continue to execute on our plan of bringing quality games to market .Our primary goal in fiscal 2011 was to position THQ for growth in fiscal 2012 and beyond."
