In Irvine, CA at the Bren Events Center, under the banner of "College Cage Series" at their "Collision in the Cage" event, Antonio "Mandingo" McKee FINISHED A FIGHT!!!!11!!1!!ONE!!!
McKee won the fight by submission at 2:04 of the 1'st round via Kimura, ending a streak of 9 years without a legitimate finish (he beat Gabe Rivas by TKO- knee injury in a 2007 IFL fight). Despite repeated assertions that he doesn't care about whether the fans like his fights, and even going so far as to saying that finishing a fight is cowardly, we all know that inside of Antonio's gruff exterior he's just a big teddy bear.
(Mandingo cranking the kimura on Ruiz for the win)
Also, at Collision in the Cage, Givanildo 'The Arm Collector' Santana (the man with the most appropriate and badass nickname in all of MMA) upped his record to 14-1 with a TKO victory over journeyman Lodune Sincaid. Santana now has 13 career finishes, 11 of which are via armbar. His sole loss was in a contentious split decision against veteran Jaimie Jara in which Giva did very well until gassing late in the 2'nd round.
Hats off to McKee & The Arm Collector, and here's to hoping that they both sign with a major promotion (like the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, DREAM, etc) and fight better comp!!
