I think they showed picture of the CHAMPION Jake Sheilds! They could have at least mentioned that it was a title fight dont u think? Terrible promoting!
It looks that way, but you have to remember that CBS and Strikeforce have to establish that Dan Henderson is now with Strikeforce, and will be making his debut on CBS. Shields has already fought multiple times on CBS. Also, they will change up the commercials as we get closer to the event. At this point, establishing Hendo (since he has ZERO fights in SF and is prob the most marketable fight on the card) is prob the most important thing for them…

SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS! is all huge and in font about 1/4 that size it says “CBS Strikeforce” at the top. This is doomed to fail. CBS isn’t interested in long term MMA growth, they are just looking to grab as many ratings as they can right now. They probably see MMA as the flavor of the week fad that will go away in 2 or 3 years, and they are just getting their piece of the pie.
Hopefully they don’t bring Strikefroce down with them.

Hendo has always been kind of void of any sort of personality. He’s the type that won’t say much, but then knock you the fuck out.

Shields has been on CBS more than any other fighter and yet they have to resort to promoting a guy from the UFC to try and sell this card… Sure, they’re gonna be able to compete.

the design team must have been exhausted after making the Overeem/Rogers poster..
Although without much footage to use they are severely limited in what they can do.
Remember their materials they have to work with. hendo sans Bisping skullfuck = tranquilizer.

They have great footage of shields tapping guys out, yet they go with something that looks like a homemade clip.
again… Jake is the best welterweight they have and the best MW they had before they dumped a bunch of money on Hendo.
So, instead of focusing on keeping and promoting their best fighter they go out and sign a UFC contender. Instead of focusing on the guy who has fought more on CBS then any other fighter they center everything around a UFC castoff.
That says something… it says the most uncharismatic guy promoted by the UFC is worth way more than their best fighter who was on “CBS” something like 4 times.
Actually it says and confirms a few things… it says their title is meaningless. It says even with CBS, UFC castoff’s are worth way more and that they cant produce or keep any stars or top fighters.
Or..they could just be focusing on the guy who has the biggest following (prob their biggest draw on the card) and hasn’t had a fight in Strikeforce yet. No footage, but making everyone aware that Dan Henderson is coming to CBS. I expect the approach to not me so Hendo-centered in the future promos.

This is a 15 or 30 second spot. Not a million and a half dollar infomercial like the UFC pays for. Strike Force doesn’t have any where to run a half hour or hour long infomercial. If your on a rincky dink little cable channel it’s not that hard to do. You want to guess how much money every one would loose if they just blocked off an hour of CBS prime time to run an infomercial? Take a big bite of reality.
For that short of a spot I thought it was pretty good. CBS also said the spots would get longer as they got closer to the fight date.
Look at the 30 second spot for UFC 111

Are you kidding me? All UFC spots are terrible thanks to the “only on ppviewwwww” extreme voice guy lol. I really liked the UFC on VS spots. That guy is so much better. UFC Primetime and the Countdown shows, thats where UFC kicks major arse I love those.

For 111 I don’t mind the Motion paint brush effects, but the “shake” plug-in is cheesy.
I think the CBS spots are pretty weak, but I think we have to remember that these spots are on CBS not Spike. They are tailoring them in a way so to a) not offend anyone, b) make it accessible to their largely mma ignorant crowd. For them it’s probably a pretty good spot.
But if I was Strikeforce or the UFC I would hold fan contests to create my ads. Many of the fan made spots are infinitely superior that what either is turning out.

to start i was excited about his mma career because of his TNA backround but what they are doing with him is so dumb and annoying i would rather not see him fight if he will just fight a gimme fight. how many of those do you get before you actually have to compete in the sport?? They should advertise" Bobby Lashley faces opponent in cage-pillow fight and he will act like he is a bad-ass when he wins. Am i the only one that thinks this?

That son of a bitch has the gods smiling on him, he always does. Shields gets battered for a round or two, but pounces on a small mistake and taps Hendo – just like Lawler. He then bolts to the UFC because they are dying for new blood in the WW division and Shields is that.
