Yeah he won....

But im sure the dick kick had something to do with it

That

looked intentional to me.

“why are those shorts so short????” That was an epic payback ball shot by Mighty Mo.

After the Bibiano-Hansen fight, he let Kikuno crescent kick him too.

by Chris Nelson on Mar 22, 2010 9:55 AM EDT up reply actions

whats with the shoes?

didnt realize you can kick while wearing shoes in dream? has it always been this way in mma? i thought when you picked shoes it meant no kicks.

by waldog on Mar 22, 2010 9:13 AM EDT reply actions

yeh that’s how it is in k1, dunno why kicks are allowed w/shoes in dream

by kanodogg on Mar 22, 2010 9:19 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

For some reason I always thought the rule was no kicking to the head but the rest of the body is ok. But you see Barnett throw a head kick so…

by Nyfeh on Mar 22, 2010 12:11 PM EDT up reply actions

The old PRIDE rule was that you couldn’t kick to the head on the ground if you wore shoes.

Don’t quote me on this, but I think if you are using soft-soled wrestling shoes like Barnett, you’re allowed to do anything a barefoot fighter does. It would be different if you were wearing high tops like King Mo

No throat slash?

Thanks man for the “spoiler” free post, I prefer not to know the results beforehand if possible.

Barnett's sub was interesting

not really a kimura…more like the straight armbar that Hazelett pulled on McCrory, except from side control.

by Scott Haber on Mar 22, 2010 9:35 AM EDT reply actions

Truthfully,

He won via de-pantsing his opponent..

by Razreshat on Mar 22, 2010 10:14 AM EDT up reply actions

It is an armbar, and really from that position it is more of a pain move. From what I could tell, Mo had plenty of space to move his hips so that Barnett wouldn’t finish it there.

To be honest, I view that fight as a loss for Barnett even though he came away with a W. He got tagged numerous times while trying to play Mo’s game. It wasn’t nearly as impressive as somebody who should be fighting Fedor should be.

by Daniel Faust on Mar 22, 2010 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Exactly.

The blows Mo was able to land and stagger Barnett with there would have been very troublesome from some of the true top 10 fighters in the HW division.

by Razreshat on Mar 22, 2010 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

I remember thinking during the early portion of the fight when Barnett was still moving stiffly and got tagged several times, “Man, if that had been Fedor hitting him, the fight might have been over right then and there.”

hmm.

by Simco on Mar 22, 2010 1:19 PM EDT up reply actions

And that should put Barnett back in the top5 again, he belongs there

by Givve on Mar 22, 2010 9:42 AM EDT reply actions

Seriously?

Because he beat an over-the-hill, out of shape K1 fighter in MMA?

You must be keeping a different Top 5 than everyone else.

by Razreshat on Mar 22, 2010 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions

bad sarcasm?

mighty mo rocked him too at some points u cant tell me barnett looked good at all

by milk72 on Mar 22, 2010 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Milk is right

How does Barnett propel back in the top 5 after this performance? Did anyone give Mo a chance when the match was announced? Barnett, IMHO needs to earn his way back up. He failed how many steriod tests? and, Hasn’t beat a top 10 HW since new years 06.

by whardiek on Mar 22, 2010 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

and the heavyweight division has so drastically improved since 06

i dont think barnett could hang with this new crop of heavyweights especially the ufc guys JDS, cain, carwin, mir, and brock would all beat the fuck outta him if he fought them the way he did last night

by milk72 on Mar 22, 2010 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions

Dont count out

Gonzaga. I think GG can beat Josh too.

by whardiek on Mar 22, 2010 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Sounds like they’re thinking about putting him in the LHW Grand Prix. I say FUNK DAT.

by Chris Nelson on Mar 22, 2010 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions

That would make the GP more interesting IMO.

Mousasi having rematches doesn’t excite me too much, Minowaman fighting someone like Seth Petruzelli on the same card will. haha.

Letting Mo knee him in the Balls was:

The only half assed attempt Josh has shown to win trust of the fans back. Mo should have put some ass behind that knee.

by whardiek on Mar 22, 2010 11:39 AM EDT reply actions

Barnett’s one of the best fighters in the history of the sport. Good to see him back.
Do people hate him for something other than his failed tests? Because the reaction to anything Barnett-related these days seems a bit too much to be only that.

3 failed steroid tests, causing the cancellation of one of the most anticipated non-ufc/pride cards in history, tarnishing the UFC heavyweight belt, being an all around jerk.

You are right.

Brookhouse hit the nail on the head. It seems everywhere Josh goes the MMA crumbles behind him. What would Brock haters say if his resume was replaced by Josh’s? I don’t begrudge him from making a living. But, he needs to stay in Japan. I think if Fedor fights Josh, Fedor’s rep is gonna suffer. Sorry, Josh. You may have been one of the best ever, but, Everyone is tired of being let down by you.

by whardiek on Mar 22, 2010 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok, I can see the being a jerk part, but I just can’t blame him for the failure of the Affliction card. Maybe it’s just because I really enjoy watching him fight.

by David_ on Mar 22, 2010 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

so what do you blame for the cancellation of the Affliction card?

The three failed drug test isn’t enough for you?

by who me on Mar 22, 2010 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions

To hate someone? No, specially when he’s a pro athlete. I’ve always been under the impression that PEDs on pro sports are the norm.

by David_ on Mar 22, 2010 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Steroids are considered cheating, that’s the whole point of them being tested for in sports. Whether they all do it or not is something I don’t know but I do know that Barnett does because he keeps pissing hot(and if it is that easy to get away with then it makes it double bad on Barnett because he can’t even do that right).

I don’t think people hate him as a person but as a fighter he is a guy who has been caught cheating in the sport 3 times now so yea there is going to be a backlash when his name comes up. He went from getting ready to fight Fedor on a huge card that people were pumped for to not even showing up for his own steroid hearing in California, there are going to be repercussions to his popularity with fans.

by who me on Mar 22, 2010 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Josh looked terrible.
I don’t think he would be very competitive against people like Junior Dos Santos.

I think it would be better to just take that Hansen v Fernandes video down then let anyone else be as upset as I just was once I realized I had just watched the last 4.5 minutes of a decision.

by Simco on Mar 22, 2010 1:23 PM EDT reply actions

The dida v noons fight skips the whole first round, too. I’m not even going to bother with the rest.
Maybe a warning these videos are just for people who want to see the endings, not the whole fights.
