Dana White Talks Jake Shields vs. Dan Henderson - UFC on Versus Post-Fight Press Conference

"Jake Shields is on the last fight of his contract, so they're feeding him to Dan Henderson right now because they want to get rid of him because he's going to go away, or they're going to have to pay him some big money to stick around or whatever the deal is," said White. "'We're paying more money to Dan Henderson than we can afford already, so let's get Jake's ass kicked by Dan Henderson and get rid of Jake Shields.'"

"I will help drive that [expletive] number right up through the roof and let the Showtime boys pay him a lot of money so that Jake can stick it right up their ass."

Very interesting, maybe that rumor on the UG by Timmy B has some merit after all

Zuffa uses paid shills very well

Either to start rumors (Tennessee card) or to leak info about signings.

BE doesn’t have that many (at least as far as I can tell). You have Supremacy who I can’t tell if he’s a shill or a fanboy and mmalogic, who may be a shill, but loses it when he starts acting like a baby.

Luke and Nate need to start recruiting shills.

yeah we need some new shills

ever since supremacy wandered off and logic seems to be less active.
we’ll just have to make do with mostly honest disinterested commenters i guess.

I can’t say who my source is but I heard that Dana is really paying Dan to beat up Shields so he can sign him for cheap. This is 100% fact.

that's an interesting point

Doesn’t Strikeforce have a champions clause like UFC? The other interesting thing about Shields vs. Hendo is age. Wouldn’t Strikeforce be short sited to lose Jake Shields? Long term, Jake has more value to them than Hendo.

I thought you were being sarcastic with your champions clause statement

I kind of miss the shills, uh...shilling...

They were very entertaining, in their own way.

""Dan Henderson is fighting [expletive] Jake Shields," White told the media. “Come on. Are you serious? Jake Shields is 170 pounds, and he’s their (185-pound) champion?”

“It’s such [expletive] bush-league [expletive], and you guys know it. They’re a [expletive] joke,” said White. “Showtime’s always been a joke with all their sports programming, and this is no different.”

“If Jake Shields could pull that off, that would be incredible, and good for him,” White said. “He’s going to get paid because what’s going to happen is we would love to take him from there, and I’m sure they’d love him to stick around.”

by Anton Tabuena on Mar 22, 2010 10:10 AM EDT reply actions

Win or lose, I would be shocked if Shields stayed with Strikeforce.

He seems like somebody who is motivated by the idea of stiff competition.

Strikeforce is running out of challengers, especially since Diaz ias off the table…
