Gonzaga is a slow striker, while JDS has great boxing. GG also doesn’t like getting hit – consider how he wilted during the second Werdum fight. I think if JDS lands one solid punch (especially if he throws combinations), Gonzaga will fall apart mentally.

Agreed
Cigano’s punches have a soul sucking effect. The night will be short for Gonzaga if he decides to stand and trade.

yeah I am sure JDS has zero skill on the ground, who does he train with again?

JDS is purple belt under Nog? And he was never tested on the ground?
I’m sure he’s skilled on the ground, but the fact that he’s training with Nogs doesn’t say much at this point.

Because Cain subbed Big Nog? On the ground, it means as much as it always has. It’s true that JDS isn’t Noguiera, and we’ll just have to see, but I expect that his BJJ is pretty good.

Of course not. I’m not silly. But I assume that my poor English gave this impression.
I also expect his ground game to be good, but he may be your average purple belt. It’s cool to market your skills with big names, but you know, Feijao trains striking with Anderson Silva, but it didn’t prevent him from being blasted by Mike Kyle.

Gotcha. “at this point” referred to JDS, rather than the Nogs. I’m feeling defensive since Minotauro got blasted!

I’m not denying that Gonzaga is a force to be reckoned with, but the cards are stacked against him. JDS is faster and hits like wrecking ball. Gonzaga turns into a training dummy after he’s hit with a good shot, and you just can’t do that with someone like JDS.

Ganzaga reminds me of a poor man's Arlovski
So many magnificent tools, but too KO prone to realize it on a consistent basis.
Skill for skill they are still a couple of the best fighters in the heavyweight division, but it is becoming too easy to find the light switch and avoid the offence all together. I am still an Arlovski / Gonzaga fan and believe these guys would be top fighters if they had a jaw like Herring.
Gonzaga has been KO’d only by Carwin. I guess there’s no shame in that. Arlovski on the other hand…

What happened to this thing being resolved by then?
I hate having to find a feed for something I could’ve watched on tv for free, I mean free as far as my parents pay for my existence.

I`m gonna go ahead and ask a completely unrelated (but important) question:
Does anyone know when the next UFC in Europe takes place? My brother turns 30 soon and i just think it would be a really cool present to get tickets + a trip to wherever it takes place…

Nice gift. I would speculate late summer or fall (UFC 117 at the earliest). UFC 99 was in Cologne in July and 105 was in November so they are due back by the fall. I’d guess the UK because I’m not sure where on the continent they’d go.
How about sending him to 112 in Abu Dhabi?
by HarmlessNinja on Mar 3, 2010 6:51 AM EST up reply actions
I`ve considered Abu Dhabi… It even has a Swede on the card. But I can`t leave work that weekend and I dooo so wanna go to. I`m hoping they`ll do a card in Dublin or Paris, preferably in july or august at the latest. Please Dana, make it happen!

When you lay it all out like that, god damn…
Dos Santos is going to send Gonzaga's head into outer space.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is driving......right into a brick wall at the end of the tunnel.
As much as I like Gonzaga, i think his head already is in outer space during most of the time he fights.

Cigano
He might just be that marketable, dominant heavyweight the UFC’s always wanted and not Brock. He may not speak English, but he knocks people out. Spectacularly. And if the career of Chuck Lidell is any indication, people like to see other people get ktfo.
The man known simply as "Christmas Cheesesteak"
Cigano knocks people out… and seems to have all the personality of your average wooden board.

True.
How much wood would a wood-Chuck chuck, if a wood-Chuck could chuck wood?

I’ll take Santos in this one, but very wearily. Gonzaga throws with big power and if he gets on top of you, it can be a very long and painful night.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
It was a veeeery close call when Gonzaga fought Carwin. I thought Gonzaga was schooling Carwin up until S.C. dropped Mjolnir on G.G.`s head.

gonna bet a grand on Dos Santos.. itll be as easy as the money i made betting on Cain/rothwell fight. Dana builds his fighters so predictably.
Yeah. Like Werdum? Or Gonzaga? Or CroCop? Or Paulo Thiago? I guess you were referring to those, right?

This is going to be Napao’s biggest fight to date he’s gotten snakebit in big fights before now it’s time to put up or shut up. Me I have yet to see him take punishment and Gonzaga can deliver alot of that i’m picking him to win by submission in the second.
Hmm. Gonzaga`s conditioning has seemed a bit iffy. I think G.G.`s best chances are in the first round.

Gonzaga is the Heavyweight equivalent of Sokodjou. Please take this to the ground Gabe. If nothing else I just want to see where Cigano’s grappling is. Please let me see Junior’s grappling!
dos santos vs cain dream match up
I’ve wanted to see those 2 fight for 2 years. I think Dos Santos is the best striker in the HW division and best striker period next to anderson silva. Gonzaga is good even in his loss to carwin he broke carwin’s nose and dropped him. He is also very good on the ground. Look for gonzaga to bulldoze santos into the cage and work for a takedown. Jr. will try and cirlce out of the rush and throw bombs. Gabe is not that hard to hit. Great match up gotta go with Santos though.
If Santos wins he should get a title shot. If Gabe wins he should get mir/carwin loser
Man
am I missing something here, cause I honestly don’t feel like Dos Santos’ striking is all that great.
"That's right I'm into hardcore crack, that's why my teeth are so bad"
JDS isn’t hard to hit either. Cro Cop was thinking about fishing in their fight and still managed to land couple of left straights to Cigano’s dome. He even rocked him once, from what I recall.

I think I might like this card better than any of the announced PPVs
From what I’ve seen neither Jones nor JDS know how to put on boring fights. Gonzaga is no cakewalk, but I still say JDS by KO in the first.
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.
