Disagree.

I think it looks a little too rock and roll.

This Summer

One’s a grizzled old veteran, the others a hotshot rookie, but if these two lifeguards want to make their summer gig work their going to have to learn to put aside their differences in:

can they put the names at the top in a smaller font?

They needed at least a 4 inch margin of white on the top and bottom to match the “sea of white” motiff.

by Dropkick434 on Mar 2, 2010 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

I think its gonna be a good fight, honestly

Look, Shields is on a 15-fight win streak. No matter where you fight, it can’t be ignored.

by Mr.Kib on Mar 2, 2010 7:08 PM EST reply actions

it’s weird to see a strikeforce poster that has both fighters from one of the bouts. The last two haven’t had any bouts competitive enough to warrant putting both fighters on there:

by Stanlee on Mar 2, 2010 7:10 PM EST reply actions

Even better when we remember that Cung LOST that fight

to a guy who didn’t even warrant his face being on the poster. Awesome.

by Shaun32887 on Mar 2, 2010 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

Why the hate? Can’t we just get along?

by MMAGuard on Mar 2, 2010 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

No hate

I loved the fight. I just think it’s disrespectful for Strikeforce to do that to Smith, and I take some pleasure in the outcome

by Shaun32887 on Mar 2, 2010 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

It is pretty shitty to not even put one of the fighters who is in the main event on the poster.

by ufc4 on Mar 2, 2010 9:15 PM EST up reply actions

and do it in consecutive events… The guy that Diaz beat was even fighting for the Welterweight title and didn’t make the poster.

It is nice they’re pushing towards real matchups rather than showcase fights that protect their stars. If Hendo/Shields, Lawal/Mousasi, and Aoki/Melendez all end up being on the same card, it’ll change my opinion of Strikeforce altogether. Of course, whether they could sustain their business model without protecting their stars is the sticking point.

by Stanlee on Mar 2, 2010 11:06 PM EST up reply actions

I’m just excited that Strikeforce has finally “officially” announced they are having a show, that’s a big step for them. Although the comically small print at the top of the poster does make me feel like I am taking an eye test.

by who me on Mar 2, 2010 7:18 PM EST reply actions

haha

just look where Hollywood’s left hand and Shield’s right hand “touch.” I might be able to do better than that… no I can’t :(

This just proves it: Strikeforce is prejudiced against colourblind people.

by mmalogic on Mar 2, 2010 8:42 PM EST reply actions

How do you know what a gay porno flick poster looks like?

One of my favorite things to do is drive by the Tomcat Theatre in West Hollywood to see what’s on the marquee. My favorite titles: Sweet Homo Alabama and Drill Bill volume II. I got to admit this poster wouldn’t look out of place.

by John Nash on Mar 2, 2010 10:26 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Somehow I think the UFC 111 post looks kind of ghey. They’re all looking dreamily into the distance or something. This one just looks … white….

by TLow on Mar 2, 2010 10:46 PM EST up reply actions

I didn’t know CBS was one of Jake’s sponsors.

by ufc4 on Mar 2, 2010 10:41 PM EST reply actions

I don’t mind the simple, uncluttered concept. UFC 110’s poster was great.

They just need to change the background colour so it don’t hurt the eyes, and get a couple of better photos to use.

by TLow on Mar 2, 2010 10:48 PM EST reply actions

Agreed.

I'm gonna make a bold prediction here and say Cain "pillowhands" (as some of you have called him) lol Velasquez catches Nog right on the chin and finishes via strikes on the ground. Nog looked good against an old Randy. It didn't show me much. We’ll see.

UFC posters look like covers of gay porn dvds. This Strikeforce poster just looks like an uninspired video game cover from 1998. Why are the names so small? Dream posters are always best

by Pete Libertine on Mar 2, 2010 11:54 PM EST reply actions

What’s sad is that this poster is still better than almost anything the UFC has made to promote one of their cards.

I’m gonna have to click through my PRIDE/DREAM poster folder to scrub the ugly from my brain.

I specializes in grammar fail.
