May 15thh... Should have booked it for sooner
Now he has almost two months to injur himself or find an excuse…
should be a good fight
overeem really outclasses rogers in the stand up but i see overeem gettin whacked in the face and remembering theres more to mma then fighting the james thompson and fujitas of the world
rogers by TKO in the 2nd
Solid card, wonder if Miller will be fighting Jacare again.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

soooo... rogers is coming off a knock out loss but he still gets to fight the champ??

The SF HW belt don’t mean jack shit. Don’t get too upset about it.
Keep firing Assholes!
Blackout is always right
not upset, just a little confused

you are absolutely right
because that is just how deep the SF HW division is….spectacular.

Still looks weird...
…but all there other decent choices for a championship fight, like Arlovski and Bigfoot, are also coming off losses, so I guess there’s no ideal option. Maybe they should have just given the shot to Lashley then.
yea, no one would be upset about that one…
by Phildo on Mar 20, 2010 12:32 AM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Like I said, looks like there was no ideal option then...
…because someone was gonna complain about who got the title shot no matter who got it based on the train wreck that’s their HW division. At least Lashley or Werdum would have been coming off some wins. As it stands, because of Fedor, this decision looks like shit.
any decision would look like shit because Fedor is not an option.
Lashley would look incredibly bad, because he hasn’t fought someone competent, ever. Werdum is in a shitty spot because he is apparently on the bench waiting for Fedor to come back. If they do Werdum/AO and AO wins, SF is in a terrible spot. They only have 1 fight left for Fedor and they will have to compete with japan for it.
This is the least shitty option, which makes it the best option.
If and when he passes the drug test (Overeem)..
Please start banning people off this site that constantly call him illegitimate because of his physique, it is fighter bashing at best.
Sick of people giving this guy shit for eating horse meat or whatever it is he does, until he fails a drug test people should not be bashed.
But if you call Tito dumb you get a warning, if you said Overeem does roids you get recs, it’s amazing.
its just when a fighter gains a shitload of weight over a small period of time
overeem was a skinny lhw now he has the physique of a super hero all while avoiding the US and the drug tests that come with fighting there
obviously its gonna raise some questions and i personally think its disgraceful that japanese mma doesnt test for steriods
I just think we should give people the benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty.
If he does come back with a negative test I will be the first person to shit all over him, but until then I will treat him like a responsible and respected martial artist and I just wish others would do the same.
It is however disgraceful that the Japanese do not test for PED, I agree.
The reason they don’t do it is because they would lose tons of money paying for drug testing, to the point where they wouldn’t be profiting. I read it on an article here, can’t find it at the moment though.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

Actually drug tests are dirt cheap. The orgs complain about the cost but they are lying. The cost is nothing. Do a google of it & you’ll find out.
On Y2K Alex Jones was on the radio yelling that Russian was nuking the USA.
Now is this an indictment of Alex Jones, or an indictment of Jones' fans.
It seems as though people love being lied to & having their money stolen from them.

According to this article, it costs around $4000 per person to do drug testing in Japan. That doesn’t sound dirt cheap to me.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.
by lowellthehammer on Mar 19, 2010 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions
dirt cheap....
maybe not for schools, but check this out:
For many schools, the financial barrier of drug testing ($20 to $30 per standard drug screen; $100 per steroid test) proved far harder to surmount than the constitutional barrier (Dohrmann 1996).
I’d say even regional shows could afford that.
by Opposites Attack on Mar 19, 2010 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions
also hair and urine:
The hair test costs several hundred dollars ($150-$300) and is rarely given because urinalysis is cheaper (approximately $65) and more accurate.
Slightly more, but nothing significant, nto like in Japan apparantly.

to me it’s not about the physique and the massive muscle gain on his torso, it’s about his bloated face. if he put on all the muscle and his face still had a similar structure, roid probably wouldn’t even cross my mind, but his face is so bloated and extra-fleshy these days that it seems obvious.

You can say the same thing about certain ufc guys too. Alves is a perfect example of that. He is juiced to the max. Look at a pick of him for his first Fitch fight, & then a pic of him now. The first fitch fight was in 06 I think. He gets away with it, why not let guys outside the ufc as well.

So Arlovski gets fed to EXC Champ Silva while the SF Champion’s fed the tire guy?
Are they actually gonna try and build to a real title fight?
Golf clap for SF.
Sir not just the tire guy!!
The baddest tire Guy in Minnesota! !!

baby steps
come on guys. He’s defending the belt and fighting a good fighter.
That’s a lot better than not defending the belt and fighting the people he’s been fighting in japan. This is good (assuming it happens).

Exactly
Strikeforce has already said they are not going to do Overeem vs Fedor without introducing Overeem to the US market. This is the best solution they can come up with:
1) If Overeem wins they’ve now set up the obvious Fedor vs Overeem match all of us have been waiting for – unless Fedor fights Barnett in Dream in the match everyone else has been waiting for.
2) If Rogers wins, he takes on the winner of Arlovski/Bigfoot. Winner of that is now a legitimate challenger to Fedor. In addition that person will have the belt, so it makes it an obvious match for Fedor, rematch or not.
Lets hope this actually happens and Megareem catches a beating.
Time to load up the Brett Rogers bandwagon. I’m bringing beer.
Keep firing Assholes!
Blackout is always right
Hold your breath...
as Overeem pulled out of his last two ANNOUNCED Strikeforce matches roughly 10 days before each event. Will be interesting to see if he makes it here.
I imagine he tests privately and this determines what he does
at least this seems like a plausible scenario
by Infinite_Jest on Mar 20, 2010 12:19 AM EDT up reply actions
Great card even without Fedor.
I don’t care if Rogers is coming of a loss the Overeem/Rogers fight is intriguing enough for me.
Arlovski/Silva
Beerbohm/Shaolin
Feijao/Britt should kick ass as well
On top of it there’s the greatest BJJ competitor of this generation.
I’m actually surprised that more MMA fans aren’t just a little hyped to see this card. Seeing Roger Gracie fight in MMA is pretty rare, so I am somewhat excited for that. There is also a good blend of prospects and veterans on this card as well, and there are actually relevant fights with mid-to-high- level fighters on here. I really don’t know what is not to like on this card.
i wanna see brett rogers vs Roger Gracie in a Roger off.
There can be only One!

Even if Fedor isn't a huge draw to the casuals...
He is with hardcores…. Many of them are much more interested in seeing him than any of the guys you mentioned, even if they are solid bouts.
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
So if Brett wins do we get a Fedor Rogers rematch? Personally I hope so. I think Brett could take him. You fight a guy like Fedor and your already beat mentally just like when GSP fought Hughes. Not that I think Brett is GSP skilled but I think he’d know what to prepare for. And its not like he wasn’t holding his own in that fight. I like re-matches and it is too bad we dont get more of them.
I will be going to
this event, taking my son for his birthday. Anyone else plan on attending?
Awesome card
Seems like someone at SF is listening to me; Beerbohm, Britt and Feijao..
Blackout612- "Wuts teh UFC?"
Ubernoober- "It like two guy who just stand and swing for fence and try to knock each other shit out it awesome"
