Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

All fighters made weight for Friday's Jewels "7th Ring" show in Tokyo, headlined by a rematch between Hitomi Akano (142.6 lbs; 15-6) and Hiroko (141.5 lbs; 7-1-1). Akano won their first meeting two years ago in Smackgirl, but Hiroko has won three straight since.

Lots more photos on Jewels' blog.

Still a novice to the Japanese Women's MMA

Will there be vids or streaming?

5’11? Good lord.

No, unfortunately Jewels is awful and has zero TV deals that I’m aware of. Their events are impossible to find (even illegally) online.

This media company does work for them and has posted some vids on their YouTube though: http://www.youtube.com/user/CYMEDIA1

Another Youtube subscription for me...

Thanks for the link, Chris. Much appreciated.

I thought the former Yuko Yamanaka was taller than 5’11? I remember her TOWERING over the other women.

A shame about that interview for her. I don’t mind them dipping into the “past career” well, but after a while the bit with her and the wooden sword made no sense.

Hiroko should come to the US and fight at 145

She has expressed interest in fighting here for a long time.

Hiroko won by unanimous decision.

Sounds like she’s got some TD and sub defense since the last time she and Akano fought. She might be ready for a step up.

Oops, right.

One judge gave it to Akano, though the people I know in attendance didn’t seem to understand why.
