Renzo should be honored:

It seems Matt Hughes doesn’t want to fight anyone these days. I think that Matt is un-willing to fight anyone young, up and coming, or any potential future star. Almost any fight he gets asked about is one that either doesn’t interest him or do anything for his career.

I think this is Thiago Alves’ fault. After he crushed Matt that became his signature win. I dont think Matt liked it.

Here’s the Ben Spijkers fight Renzo talks about.

has anyone ever heard Ben Spijkers' version?

then again, the fact that we haven’t makes it more probable

Hard not to like the guy

Renzo sure comes off likeable with his antidotes and friendly attitude.

Renzo is curing poison now?

The word you’re looking for is anecdote.

I guess this just sunk in…but why is Renzo making this his first fight in the UFC?…Matt is still a tough cookie. Was this fight by special request of either Matt,Renzo or the Sultan of Dubai? Was there no other viable option in WW? Don’t get me wrong I don’t think Matt is the same guy that utterly destroyed his cousin, but he still seems like a tough test for Renzo. Can someone fill me in?

I think it was a fight the UFC thought made sense and I’m sure Hughes and Renzo dig it; Hughes because he’s looking for ‘big fights’ and Renzo because Hughes beat Royce. There aren’t too many more name fighters that Hughes can be competitive against, but Renzo is one of them.

Also, it’s Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, not the “Sultan of Dubai”. (Abu Dhabi and Dubai are separate emirates within the United Arab Emirates; Abu Dhabi is the one with most of the oil and primus inter pares ). Tahnoon is the son of the former President.
