Bobby Lashley expected for April's Strikeforce CBS card:

No opponent has been determined, though an announcement could come within the next week.

With three title fights already booked for the CBS-televised card, Lashley (5-0) may be part of the night's un-aired preliminary card.

... A fourth fight could be shown via delay on the CBS broadcast, time permitting. Sources said the Lashley fight is expected be that featured bout.

Rematch with TBA?

They still have a whole month to find an opponent or three to stick in there for him to sit on. I mean you wouldn’t want someone fighting Lashley to have too much notice before the fight.

Lashley has TBA's number.

9 times out of 10, he beats TBA’s ass.

Ugh

if ONLY they would sacrifice their cash cow to the inevitable… I would enjoy it greatly

by xAtlasx on Mar 17, 2010 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Lol that would be awesome but we know he won’t take that fight. I bet it’ll be James Thompson or that guy that’s fighting Barnett on Sunday.

by Polyhedron on Mar 17, 2010 9:00 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

No way

Strikeforce will put Lashley in their under card. He’s too big of a draw.

by mthel on Mar 17, 2010 8:16 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

Babby Lashley isn’t a draw.

Lashley has a good following.

These are the things Bobby Lashley actually has: no personality, no charisma, and no one that actually cares about him.

This is a man who in the WWE had the whole promotion behind him, a huge push leading into a Wrestlemania event that did over a million buys and did absolutely nothing with it. He was released less than a year later.

by yukkurishiteittene on Mar 17, 2010 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions

And yet with all that knowledge, you still follow him.

by bleve_ on Mar 18, 2010 2:56 AM EDT up reply actions

If he’ll only fight cans eventually they’ll have to

by StevenGiles on Mar 17, 2010 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

If they put 0-0 Hersh vs a terrible can on the main card why would they shy away from Lashley.

Not to mention they put Cung Le vs a mediocre Scott Smith in the main event over a title fight. Not to mention the Fedor fight over a title fight. Strikeforce is often more about hype than actual competition at this point. Canseco vs Hersh may headline on of their events regardless of who is on the card.

by truck on Mar 17, 2010 11:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I guess you’re right, but if Lashley will only fight scrubs its obscene that he gets on the main card with all the title fights. I’d like to think they’ll stop putting him on the main card, but its wishful thinking perhaps. Its pretty obvious now the guy isn’t interested in progressing his MMA career

by StevenGiles on Mar 18, 2010 6:29 AM EDT up reply actions

where else do they put him...

it’ll technically be a main card fight, just taped so they can ensure no issues..

although there is a chance that he may not make the air…

may 15th is pretty stacked too so, i dk where else they would put him…

i am thinking that fedor, lahley and herschel could all see the june card too

by ADAMantium on Mar 17, 2010 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions

He isn’t that big of a draw and if they feed him the right can he will just take the guy down and pound him out in the first round giving them a 4th fight they can stick anywhere into the broadcast just in case.

by who me on Mar 17, 2010 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly

the chance of Lashley’s next fight being unaired is ~0%

by Django Z on Mar 18, 2010 12:15 AM EDT up reply actions

Anyone heard how tickets are selling? I’ve seen no promotion for it here in Nashville.

No way, campbells cans are too hard to crush, if they’re not going to let Lashley go at the pace he’s comfortable with he wants to fight Overeem.

by Polyhedron on Mar 17, 2010 10:55 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I wouldn't be surprised if he beat Overeem.

Overerrm has been fed so many cans he probably thinks they are real food. Plus Overeem often buckles under pressure.

Bobby Lashley vs. Sean O’Haire (3-2-0) or Sylvester Terkay PLZ! Preferably not the guy that lost to Mr. Shark…

by CSKit on Mar 17, 2010 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions

woah woah woah

Sean O Haire was fighting MMA? Cool
Dont care for Terkay though

by IRodC on Mar 18, 2010 12:23 AM EDT up reply actions

Terkay is one of those guys who would have been an animal if the sport had matured earlier (read: if there was any money in it). Unfortunately, his collegiate career ended right around the same time as UFC 1, so he went into pro wrasslin’ rather than developing his combat skills. He was just a notch below Kurt Angle as a collegian and had a much bigger frame.

by Steve4192 on Mar 18, 2010 8:06 AM EDT up reply actions

Totally off-topic

I once saw Sean O’Haire in Wal-Mart. His shopping cart was full of Nair. That is all.

What about Mike Whitehead? He should be recovered from his loss to King Mo by now.

by TLow on Mar 17, 2010 11:24 PM EDT reply actions

That would actually be a decent match up for Lashley at this point in his career so expect them to stay away from that. They are already doing the same last minute crap they did with his last fight, I doubt they will try to book him any better this time either.

by who me on Mar 17, 2010 11:39 PM EDT up reply actions

i am hoping he gets rejects @ the commision again.

this is stupid.

by Beren on Mar 17, 2010 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Hopefully he gets matched up well...

…but we all know he’ll be fighting boxcar bob

Lashey vs. Petruzelli

Kimbo Killer can get some hype, I imagine. And I’m reasonably sure Lashley would pound him.

lol.

by Loot on Mar 18, 2010 4:05 AM EDT up reply actions

not sure about that, but it would be a good test and a credible opponent.

by bleve_ on Mar 18, 2010 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Probably smart of Strikeforce to not mention an opponent until after the commission makes a decision but you have to really wonder about what that says about the opponent. Is it another guy the commission might not accept?

by who me on Mar 18, 2010 8:45 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

It’s pretty clear Strikeforce doesn’t know what the hell they are doing with their CBS shows. One of their biggest draws may not even have his match aired, AND they haven’t even lined up an opponent for him a month out (yet again). I have a felling CBS is going to give them the boot pretty soon, that’s probably why the UFC isn’t going to counter program them with a live event, they don’t feel they need to.
