sweet
Visually looks great. Hopefully the gameplay is good. Graphically it makes another certain game look pretty shitty.

The fighters look really stiff and unnatural in my opinion…
Almost cartoonish the way they move…
The models of the fighters are done quite well though.

really...need...edit button.
That sounds like i said two different things…
The way they move and strike and transition looks odd and unnatural to me, but the way they physically look is pretty accurate.

It’s far from the finished product. I expect everything to continue to look more fluid as things come together.
(the following isn’t intended as a statement about you but rather a lot of people’s lack of understanding about these things)
I think EA is actually making a mistake by trying to let people see their game as it is being developed. Every time early footage or screens come out of this people assume it is the finished product and decide that the game will look exactly the same when it ships.
Also, there’s the completely senseless “I support the UFC! This game sucks!” aspect. I really hope that this game is awesome, and that Undisputed is awesome and I have 2 different, great MMA video games to play.

Giving gaming websites, and putting videos on the web during development is common practice for almost every “big” game.

I meant to say, giving gaming websites early builds, and sneak previews, as well as putting videos on the web….etc etc

Oh...
I understand. It was kind of a joke about irrational MMA fans. But I phrased it too much as being a shot at EA. I follow most games I’m excited with through the development cycle so I’m well aware of what I’m getting when I look at things.
It’s just the insanity of some MMA fans that prevents them from being able to contextualize things.

I can dig it.
I’m just really not into the analog stick controls. I hate that. I hate it. I can move around and I can aim a gun with the analog controls. Punching is not fun that way (I wouldn’t buy FNR4 until they added the face button configuration). Kicking (I’m guessing) will be even worse.
Oh man..
I love FN style analog controls. Just the best thing ever.

I want to punch analog controls in the face. If they had a face, I would surely be the first to punch it.
Apparently there will be an option to use the buttons.

Don’t expect too much of what zakkree was talking about to be improved. When the game is this far along there isn’t much that they can or will change to make it better other then fixing bugs. The engine is what it is, they may be able to polish a few things but if they’re willing to release the gameplay footage. Very few games I have seen have noticeably improved the general gameplay physics from the time they early release clips or playable demos to gamer mags like Game Informer. The biggest things they do fix is mostly related to polishing the graphics and bugs.
I'm definitely looking forward to more details about the product in the future...
Before I make my decision on whether it’s worth buying for me.

Same
Up until this I had been pretty pessimistic about the game, but a lot of the issues I had are starting to disappear as the kinks in shading are worked out.

I was wondering that as well. How the hell did they get Fedor in this game without having to slap M1-Global all over the rings and stuff.
M1-Global and EA Sports presents
M1-Global MMA featuring M-1 Global star Fedor Emelianenko and former M-1 Global star Gegard Mousasi is the full official name of the game, I believe.
Well duh, M-1 co-developed the game so it only makes sense.

im excited for this game simply because EA is making it, they normally put a lot of effort into their sports game, not like THQ where their games are essentially button smashers. if anyone wants to question EA’s attention to detail and ability to make realistic games just go play Madden ’10 lol
are you on crack sir?
have you seen what happened with the battlefield 2: bad company release a couple of weeks ago? EA sucks big time at supporting/developing anything but their darned fifa/nhl/madden/whatever-sports-series.
Go big red!
coming late 2010….will Strikeforce make it that long?

no way that this game saves them unless it sells better than even undisputed. or unless m1 negotiated the deal with ea.

wow...
this trailer makes me wish EA would have accepted the UFC’s offer to make their game.
I really hope that they can eventualy come to terms because this game looks awsome (better then THQ’s Undisputed game).
tabreaz said - "Brock a national champion? Are u actually seriously saying brock is better than rogers due to him being a champion in a completely differant sport?"
Isn't Youtube fun?
really enjoyed that trailer, cant wait.
2 MMA games to play this year, good times… OT god i hope there’s competition in American Football games again soon.
fat chance on the football games. Madden is one of EA’s golden gooses. And 2K makes a better game but EA owns the NFL license. NFL 2K5 still makes madden look dumb in a lot of areas. Much more realism
"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him a year ago. I pulled it out of him and I beat him over the head with it." Brock Lesnar
I still say NFL 2k was a steaming pile of shit. The only sports game 2k makes better than another company is basketball.
2k > Live
The Show > 2k
NHL > 2k

2K deff has basketball wrapped up. And as far as NFL 2K being shit..madden bought them out for a reason they were taking a huge junk of there audience and were partnered with ESPN. Madden 10 also had NFL 2K lead designer working on the game. But your entitled to your opinion
"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him a year ago. I pulled it out of him and I beat him over the head with it." Brock Lesnar
They were taking their audience because the game cost $20.
The lead developer working on Madden doesn’t make it similar to the 2k game in any way.

NFL 2K3
Blew Madden 2003 away. I have no idea what you’re talking about. It had higher ratings than Madden as well. People didn’t buy because it was cheap.
I absolutely hated it...
bought both and HATED it.

i’m still in love with APF 2k8, for me it’s the best football game to date.
the nba game is way better than live, but they really have no chance against EAs NHL game and against The Show.
but they really know how to make basketball and football games.
EA knows how to make a fighting game, i love FNR4, so looking forward to their first MMA try…
now just imagine apf 2k8 with NFL teams it would of killed madden. Madden got first person mode and the highlight shows from nfl2k. the running and tackling is much more fluid in 2K as well.

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."
This looks good
And they still have 6 month to work on it. We’re going to be seeing some seriously sick mma games develop over the next few years
do you guys remember that one video where dana said 'EA sports just suck!' in an interview?
that shit was hilarious. he’s like the marketing terminator.

Shouldn't a gameplay trailer show actual gameplay?
by yukkurishiteittene on Mar 17, 2010 8:20 PM EDT reply actions
So EA MMA is a game where you watch a set of random animations of different fighters with no context or relation to each other?
by yukkurishiteittene on Mar 17, 2010 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions
What are you talking about?
the trailer was pretty much all gameplay save for the entrance. It showed random fights jsut like the ufc gameplay trailers.
It did not show a real person playing the game or how a fight actually works in the game; just a whole lot of nothing.
by yukkurishiteittene on Mar 17, 2010 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you aren’t a videogame nerd like me. But when a company releases a “gameplay trailer” this is basically what it is. It shows clips of the game in motion. It doesn’t actually show a person playing the game (how it controls, how to do the moves, etc.).
There is a developer interview where he talks a bit about the game’s mechanics. It’s on the official site.
Aha you wanted to see a real person playing the game
Just like when you watch a movie trailer you obviously want to see a trailer of someone watching the movie in question, not just a bunch of highlights showcasing the interesting features.

A trailer wouldn’t show those things. That isn’t what a trailer is.

Yes, a gameplay trailer wouldn’t show how the game actually plays or what the gameplay experience for a player is actually like. That isn’t what a trailer is.
Tell you what. I’ll give you all the benefit of the doubt that maybe you all just haven’t though this through all too well.

srsly?
Are you kidding? That is actual in-game footage if you don’t believe EA Sports, check other gaming sites like Kotaku or IGN. If you still don’t think that’s a trailer goto Game Trailers and tell me how many damn “trailers” have people playing the game in it. You might find the FFXIII with Leona Lewis in it.
On second thought, maybe you just don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
SMH
Yet it's not just a trailer, its a "gameplay trailer."

It’s a gameplay trailer because it shows actual footage, do you think Gameplay Trailers show an actual demonstration of someone playing? GTFO
They do if you actually have something to show.

UFC fighter will be in the game
just like we could download created fighters that weren’t in Fight Night..the same will happen in this game..People are going to upload pics of BJ, Silva etc..and create and dl them..cant wait 4 them both!

A lot of strikeforce haters must be experiencing a bit of cognitive dissonance in this situation. On one hand they hate Strikeforce, on the other hand they know that EA is by far the better sports video game developer (fight night, madden). Its quite amusing to watch the mental gymnastics on this one

It is lol. It just looks like EA is really doing their homework on this one. I personally cant wait for both games.

Agreed
I pre-ordered EA’s game after seeing this video, I’ll wait for Metacritic’s reviews before I pick-up UFC ’10 though.
No worries
While I’m watching my intros, at least once per fighter, I’m sure you’ll have the option to disable or skip them.
Undisputed didn’t even have entrances. I’ll at least give EA a thumbs up for trying, but I wonder if they are going to use stock themes, or have licensed themes for some guys. Don’t know if it will beat Sudden Impact and Pedro Rizzo’s theme song being “YOU CAN’T STOP THE ROCK” repeated ad nauseum.
Kind of catchy though.
The trailer was badly in need of Nick Diaz reading the monologue.
Keep firing Assholes!
Blackout is always right
It looks okay, the animations look a bit stiff but there may be time for them to smooth that out. This game will live and die (like all fighting games) with how it controls. Until we get some hands on impressions (vs Undisputed) it’s difficult for me to get too excited just yet.
The character models look good but I’ll repeat what I stated in the other thread, the lighting in a number of the gameplay shots looks really whacky, like they’re 2 miles from the sun or something, too much bloom. Not that this would stop me from buying the game but disappointing given how well the character models look. I would still say that the models (fighters) shown in this gameplay video easily eclipse those done in Undisputed 2009. They’re easily recognizable.
The only major graphical thing I see in this is...
The same I saw from the stills they were released.
The texturing on the fighters really isn’t very good, you can really notice how not good it is when you compare the sweat covered fighters to the non sweat covered fighters in the video.
It’s like when they apply a ton of shine over the texture it hides the fact the texturing isn’t that great. Same thing with the guys with lots of tats, they looked a lot better as there was something there on top of the bland texture.

I will say..
that I could give two shits about how it looks if it plays well. Example: Fire Pro Wrestling is way better than the WWE games.

Poorly written and a bad choice for the voice too.
As far as the gameplay – meh, glad others will buy both and the best one will be clear so I can go buy that.
Can't wait
I was excited when the roster started leaking out, and this trailer only gets me more excited for its release.
So much hate in here.
Not sure how anyone could say that doesn’t look 20x better than Undisputed.
