Serra and Hardy are the approachable and funny guys. GSP is the unstoppable machine.

From the looks of this video, the cliffhanger ending from episode one was staged for dramatic effect.
Oh a completely unrelated note: HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY, YA BASTARDS!!!!

GSP can take a punch from Fitch…even though Fitch did wabble him a few times, but I know for a fact that GSP cannot take a solid hit from Hardy…
I do believe that Hardy will get taken down Round after round…Much the same as what Chael Sonnen said about fighting Anderson.
GSP is not as tough as Dan Hardy, Matt Serra, or even Jon Fitch…
His defense is his great offense….
He never lays off of his opponents, but Hardy can REACH GSP unlike the 155lb Serra.
I will be there in Newark, and am expecting the crowd to go crazy at the end of the fight!
At which point in that fight when did Fitch “wabble” GSP in that fight? And Swick took several shots from Hardy and managed to survive.
How do you know for a fact Gsp cannot take a solid hit from hardy? He took shots from Penn and Alves and he seem to do just fine and in my opinion they are both better strikers then Hardy . One of the most over blown criticism’s of Gsp is that he has a weak jaw. I think a better assessment of Gsp is that he avoids taking damage and that seems to be the trend for many of this generations champions.
GSP gets hit behind the ear by Serra, and all of a sudden he has a weak chin. Apparently I missed that class in school when they taught everyone the chin is behind the ear.
I don't want to lick any butt. - GSP
You may want to look up the definition of “fact”, and then revise what you wrote.
BTW, count me in the group of people who’d like to know when exactly Fitch wobbled GSP with punches.
ya a vid or gif of GSP being "wobbled" by Fitch would be awsome.
tabreaz said - "Brock a national champion? Are u actually seriously saying brock is better than rogers due to him being a champion in a completely differant sport?"
Isn't Youtube fun?
I was at that fight and had fairly decent seats, I don’t recall this happening. Must have been when I blinked.

Poutine is the best. If you’ve never had one, you need to at least once in your life. Montreal Poutine is the best. Though I’ve had some good poutine in Vancouver too.

So, Hardy goes to Serra to learn ground game tips.
After GSP demolished Serra on the ground.
Good plan.

Man I haven't felt like someone was trying to bullshit me so hard.
Hardy has no prayer. I can’t believe they are trying to make me feel like he does. I feel violated.
Then don't watch anything intended to raise interest in the fight.
I will also keep this comment in mind and nanny-nanny-boo-boo you soooooo hard should Hardy do anything other than get dominated.
Still don’t agree that GSP is inferior in striking compared to Hardy.

GSP is way more dynamic than Hardy and his overrated hands.

Montreal kicks ass. I love it there. Though the humidity is a bitch, and after living on the West Coast for so long, I can’t get used to the cold anymore.
I don't want to lick any butt. - GSP
One of my all time favourite cities, but I agree with you about the cold. I was in Montreal for a debate tournament (shut up, assholes) once, and it was something like -32C. The organizers were warning everyone who had to go to outside to get to other buildings (McGill) that they should try not to be outside for more than 90 seconds, and they should avoid opening their eyes…
"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."
GSP, Jordan, Tiger, Gretzky.....
All of these guys where/are great because they are mentally stronger than their opponents.
When GSP got his shit straight after Matt Hughes he’s been unstoppable. The Serra incident didn’t change him fundamentally like the Hughes fight did. It was just a hickup, like Tiger being stupid enough to give all those hoes his real cell number.
Bullshit is different than horseshit, it has a less offensive smell.
The preferred method of delivering bullshit is to sling it. The bullshit needs a good arc to stick where it lands. If the bullshit is thrown instead of slung, it will splatter. Nobody likes someone that splatters bullshit.
The only way to clear away bullshit is to elevate into the non-bullshit world. The two ways to do this are:
1) The truth
2) Flat out lie

Hot Tube Time Machine is going to be hilarious.
The mere concept of it is hilarious. A hot tub. That takes you back in time. To. 1987. WTF LOL!
Yeah unfortunately when that concept peters out after 15 minutes then you have another 75 minutes to fill.
The concept peters our after 5 seconds into the trailer.

That jump punch GSP does is just silly to me. Loses all power from his feet. It may land but doesn’t have anything behind it.
I think the point of it is to create distance and spacing.
Maybe you should let him hit you with it.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you don't know as much as you think you know.

Mauricio Rua and Georges St. Pierre probably know more than you.
Also, everyone who has ever thrown a flying knee.
Or two, in José Aldo’s case.

he’s landed it, and rocked, world class opponents, so i think he knows what hes doing

Rewatch GSP / Hughes II. At the end of the first, he hits Hughes with it which leads to the knockdown.
He also hit BJ with it. It looks like it hurts enough to me.

I seem to recall that BJ said at one point that he thought that particular punch broke his nose.
"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."
I don’t think it broke; BJ seems damn hard to damage. But he said it felt like it did, which is more than most of his opponents can hit him with.
"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."
It's not a bad punch
When I trained Muay Thai we were taught that and it can have some decent power to it. It was also used after a fake teep (push kick) so the misdirection helps make it effective.
by Roll for Life on Mar 18, 2010 11:17 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, this is a technique that GSP’s muay thai trainer Phil Nurse brought to his game. I’m quite certain Nurse knows what he’s doing, and given GSP’s physical gifts and naturally long reach, this technique plays extremely well into GSP’s game.
by Hardcharger on Mar 18, 2010 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions
I looked up Phil Nurse before and he has great credentials as a Mauy Thai trainer, shame he is more well knows as the guy who greased GSP in the second Penn fight.
by Roll for Life on Mar 18, 2010 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions
Firas is too intelligent for Hardy. He had the same effect on Penn and his camp. He’s such a student of the game that he knows the opponents better than they know themselves. When he speaks on them, it hits home, and the opponents become defensive, and immediately launch verbal assaults on Zahabi. Mission accomplished. Zahabi = 2 GSP opponents = 0.

Yeah...
just watch the Unleashed episode with Penn-GSP I… one of the most one-sided fight commentaries I can remember. I had to watch it with the sound off.
That being said, he’s by far the best commentator in the business.
by Ephemeral Artery on Mar 17, 2010 11:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I thought Shogun-Machida was the worst ever. Penn-GSP was up there, partly because I think he was so excitied about Penn coming back to the UFC. CroCop-JDS, Hendo-Franklin were also not so good
He creams his pants everytime there’s a leg kick as well.
That said, he’s at least never faking it, unlike the feeling you get Mauro Ranallo or Mike Goldberg.
Go back and watch his commentary on GSP vs Karo. It was just ridiculous.
But yeah, despite his eccentricities and slip ups, he’s still my favorite MMA commentator.

I’m sure the Primetime and Countdown shows are scripted, at least to give talking points so some of the overstated hype comes from that.

Funny guy
“He’s a martial artist because he walks out in his payama’s”
hahaha, GSP could use a little reality check
???
What reality check?
That was a good line though.
by The Flying Gentleman on Mar 18, 2010 2:26 AM EDT up reply actions
It was a good line but it’s just interesting that he goes off on GSP for saying that’s he’s not a martial artist and in the same breath makes fun of a gi.
he doesn't make fun of the gi
but of the man that claims he’s a martial artist, simply for wearing one. I don’t see any judo or karate people pissed off, those that feel they need to defend BJJ need to chill, you’re not under attack.
Take the art seriously, but not yourself.
by nostraboris on Mar 18, 2010 11:33 PM EDT up reply actions
Yes, insulting all the practitioners of BJJ or karate is certainly a sign of being in touch with reality.
Hardy is an immature kid. Sure, he’s hyping the fight. Great. But he has a temper tantrum when anyone responds to his nonsense, and then veers off into belittling people and martial arts he has no business belitling. The problem is that GSP and his camp have Hardy pegged, and Hardy knows it.
I have been trying to!
But the Extenze doesn’t seem to work.
by Roll for Life on Mar 18, 2010 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions
do they speed up this footage at all?
Hardy has pretty fast hands, it looks completely different from his hand speed in fights lol.
Sorry GSP, you chose your only line of trash talk poorly.
GSP says Hardy isn’t a martial artist. It fell apart when they showed hardy training with fu**ing shaolin monks for two months in china. That’s pretty hardcore and that’s something only a martial artist would do.
"You hit too hard, too hard, too hard..."
Not really. A real martial artist wouldn’t denigrate martial arts by calling a gi “pajamas”. And BTW, Hardy was the one who initiated this exchange by saying that GSP was an “athlete”, not a fighter, and didn’t come into fights to hurt people.
When GSP responded, Hardy threw a tantrum, just like he did later when Firas exposed his insecurities. Hardy’s attempts at mental warfare have backfired.
by Hardcharger on Mar 18, 2010 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions
GSP Nuthuggers, Unite!
God forbid ‘ardy calls gi ’pajamas’, but all is fair when GSP claims the guy he’s about to fight isn’t a true mixed-martial-artist. That’s like someone coming to you and going “Oh by the way, your not a true accountant, you’re just a stand-in because my boss says I have to deal with whoever is here.”
Dipshits who lack the intelligence to comprehend what the read, unite!
Your entire path of reasoning on the topic is flawed. If all is fair in love and trash talk, then whether or not what GSP said is irrelevant. In that scenario, it’s merely a back-and-forth between the too.
However, if the trash talk has to be actually true, then Hardy failed when he began the confrontation by labelling GSP as someone who was not a real “fighter”.
So, do you have any more, creative ways to fail, or was this your best effort? I think everyone will label you as a real failure, and not just a pretender, so you can take solace in that. Hope that helps!
by Hardcharger on Mar 18, 2010 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions
One doesn’t exclude the other, they both failed IMO, one for being refuted by video evidences, the other for falling for the obvious shittalk.
In the end GSP wins, cause hardy is getting pissed at the coach for handling the trashtalk while GSP is clearly focused on his training only. It’s like you said, it backfired.
"You hit too hard, too hard, too hard..."
I don’t disagree with you, and I tried to address this on another post. If we’re talking whether or not the statements are true, then both probably fail. If it’s just talk to rile up the other, then it is what it is. I don’t think Hardy should expect his opponent not to respond to his trash talk claims, especially when he says the best fighter in the world at WW is not really a fighter.
Man, somehow every time I watch them try to build Dan Hardy up, I just get less convinced.
Other thing I saw is that Patrick Cote doesn’t even use headgear when he spars? That’s ridiculous chin for you
First off, I think it is hilarious that Dan Hardy was in a Hooters, secondly, I like how everyone yells “YEAH, DAN HARDY!” in the Hooters. Like, “YEAH, THAT FIGHTER IN HERE RIGHT NOW SO WE’ll CHEER HIM ON!”.
Where is the footage of GSP in a Hooters? Oh yeah, GSP probably would never go to that shit place and also, they wouldn’t be able to film because GSP wouldn’t even be able to sit down for all the people crowding around.
I don’t have a problem with Dan Hardy, just GSP, and even the people who GSP surrounds himself with are in a different league.
Well, GSP is a millionaire, he has his own cook…

I’m excited about the heavyweight division now for the first time in a long time. When is Duffee fighting next? Give him about 4 or 5 good fights and we’ll be getting jacked about the idea of him fighting for a title.
The Shaolin stuff Hardy was doing is awesome. It was beautiful to see how low and smooth he was. Cool stuff. It’ll be interesting to see GSP knock that shit into the upper dimension.
by Dooda on Mar 18, 2010 7:03 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
What did Firaz say to make Hardy so defensive? It just seemed to come out of nowhere to me?
Also, I wonder when Hardy did the Shaolin thing? He looked a lot younger.
Firaz didn’t say anything offensive towards Hardy. He said, more or less, that it’s impossible to beat GSP, and if it’s possible you’ probably die in the process. But maybe they cut something out of the TV version, don’t know.
According to the dates on the video, Shaolin trip was in 2000.
