GSP says he’s not worried about Hardy’s comment about him not being able to take shot. He said he was hit behind the ear in his Serra fight.
Carwin compares his engineering job as no different than in the flexibility in MMA fighters teaching in their off-time.
Hardy says people are more interested in what’s going to happen with the division if he wins belt.
Dan Hardy hasn’t changed a great deal with his training. He has brought in people to work on takedown defense, but not because of GSP.
I really like Alves for some reason. He’s beefy and strong but he’s got insane skills and technique and I get the sense that he really feels and believes his words. John Fitch, though I sort of like him, is quite uninspiring by comparison.
If Fitch stops Alves I’ll be really surprised. Fitch looked in serious trouble in his last fight on the feet, with Alves it’s going to be really tough for him. I’m assuming Alves’ takedown defense is going to be really good after his last couple of fights with elite wrestlers.
I like Alves too. I realize he’s talking a bit of smack here (nothing mean spirited), but he’s always been a very respectful guy. Even after his loss to GSP, he gave interviews where he thanked GSP for beating him up and teaching him a lesson. An attitude like that coupled with his tremendous physical gifts is a good combination to have.
I came away from UFC 100 convinced that Alves was a clear #2, and was now a better fighter than Fitch, so I guess I will find out whether that’s correct or dead wrong.
LOL at Dana. He’s a master at hyping fights. Saying he sees holes in GSP’s standup, and that Hardy’s is perfect? That’s quite the stretch.
I am getting more and more interested in Mir-Carwin as the fight nears. The shadow of Lesnar has somehow made this fight slip under the radar a bit.
You can thank Mir for that.

If Carwin cut himself a flat-top for this fight he would be my new hero.

Dana should never be in these
Countdown or Primetime shows, period. Get some damn mma writers, bloggers radio hosts. Anyone but Dana. Rogan passes but they over use him as well.

MMA bloggers and writers are useless people.

Dana telling me why a fight is important is useless to me. Might as well be Vince Mcmahon. EIther UFC are cheapasses or Dana just thinks people care what he thinks more than professionals. Id really rather have Ariel Helwani and Bas telling me why this is a sick fight than Dana.

Producer: Okay Dana, rolling.
Dana: The only holes in GSP’s game is his standup and Hardy’s stand-up is perfect.
Producer: Okay cut. Dana, when you’re done laughing let’s do it again and really try and sell it this time.

While Hardy does have good boxing and a strong chin, he has only KOed or TKOed Rory Markham in the UFC. However, he has dropped many of his opponents, so he does have power in his hands. GSP’s standup is well above average, and despite losing to Serra, many MMA fans will question GSP’s chin even though Serra first hit him behind the ear. The hype works though because even I am second guessing whether or not GSP should stand with Hardy or not. While I feel GSP will win, the hype has made it so that I am second guessing, and I am sure I am not the only one.
Typically horrible editing by the UFC.
“He has great leg kicks” – as we see him getting tagged in the face by Davis.
Thats bush league.

I keep forgetting about Fitch-Alves being on this card… Man, I should have went to this one instead of 114…

One of my favorite lines from the best TV show ever.
I hate sound effects for punches (da danga dadanga da danga dang excluded).
Has everyone forgotten that GSP used to be primarilly a stand up fighter until he developed an absurd base overnight?
