good step up in competition for beerbohm.

That's the 1'st thing that popped in my head
Because up until now, his best wins are over Bang Ludwig & Tractor Oliveira; good wins for sure, but if he wants to be an elite fighter this is a necessary and timely step up in comp for him. Shaolin is no joke, Fancypants is gonna have to be on his game

I'm guessing
you are not aware of the strength that the fancy pants contain?
This ain’t Japan..Lyle is a “real” 170’r.not the 160 lb weaklings Shaolin has been fighting for years..
I'm guessing
that you’re not aware that this fight is at 155

He's beaten Meth addiction, not that you can tell by that pic.

Actually
Beerbohm has been very public about his meth addiction and jail time, and how MMA has helped him get over it and focused in his life. It’s actually an interesting and inspiring story.

Yeah...
The problem with Vitor Ribeiro is the same problem he’s always had. He can’t deal with power or quickness, and he’s a methodical grappler on the floor. He isn’t a blazingly fast transition grappler like some of the offensive grapplers we’ve seen in the past, and it allows his opponents to power out of holds and blast him.
He is technically sound in his technique, but that doesn’t help much when it takes lengthy amounts of time to setup submissions. He can throw the armbar transition quickly, but I imagine he’s going to get smothered Beerbohm from the top and try to work submissions from the bottom that take too long and require too much effort. I don’t see Beerbohm having huge problems here either.

Agreed
I’ve never seen Shaolin as much of a submission wiz. He’s an excellent positional BJJ guy, but he’s not going to throw sub after sub at guys, and anyone with a solid BJJ base should be able to pound him out from on top.

"Technically sound in his technique"
Don’t you mean that his precision is… precise??

LOL
At the condescending “He fought in Japan so he is great” reply. Shaolin has been massively overrated for ages. His record has two good wins (Hansen, Kawajiri) and then a list of gimmie wins.

I wouldn’t consider Ishida a “gimmie” (imo) and who has Lyle beaten, Bang? I like “Fancy Pants” and all but not sure he can win unless he can keep it standing.
???
Ishida has lost to any top fighter he has faced. Stop living in Japan-o-phile world.

Wow
So Aurelio is a great fighter now because of a win over Gomi from 4 years ago? He has gone 6-6 since then.
Melendez/Ishida was the worst hold ’em down win ever! And Melendez quickly got his revenge there.
I’m not being a Japan hater. I’m just sick of folks with the arrogant attitude displayed in “I guess you’ve never heard of Shaolin” like you are somehow more educated than the guy who picked Beerbohm.

Aurelio, at the time, was a great fighter, that’s all that matters. A similar comparison would be, Din Thomas beat Jens in ‘00 was impressive, whereas beating Jens Pulver now doesn’t hold the same weight.
Melendez/Ishida was the worst hold ’em down win ever!
Dominating a great fighter is still dominating a great fighter.
I’m just sick of folks with the arrogant attitude displayed in "I guess you’ve never heard of Shaolin" like you are somehow more educated than the guy who picked Beerbohm.
Saying “Lyle by whatever he wants”, made it seem like he was uneducated in who Shaolin is and his experience.
In the future I will try really hard not to aggravate you with my opinion, I’d hate to make you sick. :P
Because I follow all MMA, I’m a “Japan-o-phile”? Ishida beat Aurelio when he had just beaten Gomi he was also the first to beat Melendez, so him losing to every fighter he’s ever faced is a little off. Stop being a hater, there’s more to MMA than America.
The proper term is "Crapanese MMA"
Vitor is (was) the real deal. He’s got enough quality wins and contests with top fighters to prove it. I still think he’s going to get dominated. He’s coming off a long hiatus, after a major injury, and taking on a powerful wrestler who’ll be able to punish him standing or keep top control on the ground. This is a really sucky first fight for him.
If SF can't hang on to Beerbohm
THen the company truly IS in trouble. I’m thinking they do begin to keep their fighters busy since…well since they’re supposedly putting on 2 shows per month for the second half of this year. And by proxy, they hang on to their stars and those on the brink of being stars, like Beerbohm and Rockhold.

Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm
Just in time for the Name of the Year tournament.
"Will Rogers never met Barry Switzer."
Rebiero is going to need to be extremely good to win this fight. Lyle has excellent sub defense, good striking, a massive gas tank, and great wrestling. He’s not undefeated for no reason.

Why isn't Fancy Pants on CBS?
Oh right because they missed their opportunity to air his fight against Ludwig. So casuals probably don’t even know who he is…

this a good fight
lyle is a bulldog that should give shaolin trouble, but shaolin is battle tested
Any Good HL's?
I could only find Ronin Volume 2 – City of God (By Genghis Con) for Shaolin (3:40 mark). When I typed in “Fancy Pants” a Lady Gaga video popped up, unfortunately.
beerbohm was a really could he was more than willing to discuzz the sponsor fiasco with

Frank Shamrock vs. Pat Miletich
frank is rumored to be in june show in san jose, with cung
i remember reading that britt vs feijao was in the televised card for this by mmafighting..com
britt vs feijao in may 15
that what i read though
That's the thing with rumors
Frank Shamrock vs. Gung Le/Pat Miletich can both be rumors.
Yeah, I forgot to post Antwain Britt vs. Rafael Feijao, Britt confirmed it with MMA Fighting. Good catch.
This is actually a really good fight
I really hope this fight makes the main card (I’m sure it will, but you never know). Shaolin has actually been signed to Strikeforce for a while but hasn’t fought for them yet, and Beerbohm hasn’t fought for Strikeforce in a while as well. I will go with Beerbohm on this one. I think of a fighter like Beerbohm as someone like Rockhold, Woodley, or Tim Kennedy who are just stars in the making that Strikeforce should really be pushing.
I hope Fancy Pants has found himself some sponsors
That whole Hoelzer Reich fiasco really put a crimp in his pocketbook. He was talking up the deal they gave him like he had hit the lottery and he went all in defending them until the bitter end. Now he has to start all over looking for new sponsors.
Which is weird.
After they were banned from the UFC, I figured Strikeforce would sign them to a financially questionable deal and try to push them on CBS.

Elbows
are elbows allowed in strikeforce? that would make a big difference for beerbohm
