Quote of the Day: We Have Only Seen 20 Percent of What Jon Jones Can Actually Do
"I’m just really excited to fight him. I really have a lot of pride in my stand-up. It’s a lot better than you see in the actual Octagon. You’ve seen about maybe 20 percent of the things that I have in my head and things that I’ve been training."
"My last two opponents I fought, Jake O’Brien and Matt Hamill, were both guys who I had to stay aware of their double-leg (takedown) so it didn’t really allow me to unleash the type of striking that I wanted to. Fighting a guy like Brandon Vera, I know he’s not big on the double-leg-takedown, so I will just feel a little more free to flow on my feet and pull the trigger on a lot more things that I’m dying to do."
--Jon Jones, who has already been impressing people with his very unique and unorthodox striking, says that we have only seen a small portion of what he can actually do. He plans on unveiling his entire arsenal against Brandon Vera, on what he plans to be his coming-out party to contendership.

Combine Jones 20% with Lesnars 80% and we get:

But your caption has me wondering what the picture would’ve been!
It’s a picture of Voltron.

I'm on his hype train
Love watching his flow and I truly cannot wait to see if he’s even partially right. Should be a hot fight. Even if he loses, his personality has me.
Jones is only 22 and is a beast. People throw out JDS and Cain. Mark my words Bones Jones will be the guy to test Lesnar. He is still a kid and is still growing he already said he sees himself at HW. Love to see Jones vs Lesnar if the right amount of weight got added
"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him a year ago. I pulled it out of him and I beat him over the head with it." Brock Lesnar
Go look at his brother who is about to go to the NFL and you will see what Jones will grow into being. His family is no joke guy is gonna be huge when he reaches his genetic potential.
whats his brothers name that would help in the search lol

I have such high hopes for Jones in this fight.
Every aspect of this fight has the makeup to by dynamic and compelling. It also could be a real disappointment to a lot of people if Jones does fall to Vera. I’m still betting Jones but getting caught by a couple Vera knees is a real possibility.
Think; It's not illegal yet.
As Urijah Faber can tell you, everyone celebrates unorthodox striking until it gets you KTFO. Then “creative” becomes “ill-advised.” It’s interesting that he seems to think that wrestlers double-leg takedowns limit his creativity… I wonder what a legit striker waiting to counter will do.

Oh, yes, Meg, yes-yes yes, everything was going swimmingly for you until this. Yes, yes, THIS is the thing that will ruin your reputation, not your years of grotesque appearance, or your awkward social graces, or that Felix Ungerish way you clear your sinuses, no no no, it's THIS. Do you hear yourself talk? I might kill you tonight.
After seeing him maul Matt Hamill
The thought that he was only operating at 20% is pretty damn scary.

If it's true, that would be sadako type of scary...
IF it’s true… People love throwing out random percentages all the time, just to prove a point.

He has some things to tighten up, but he has gotten away with it so far.
Bonnar has clean technique and the very very raw jones looked good against him. One would hope he has improved since then. He was smooth in his last couple fights too. Vera is a very big test. He has the great greco roman defense and very very crisp Muai Thai of his own. If Jones can edge him on the feet and score a couple takedowns, we know we are seeing something special.

In Before Jones loses and everyone on the hype train goes silent
like they always do when a hero loses.
Jones was last spotted frantically running away from Torres’ train but it’s closing quickly..
:)
But seriously, he’s so young. Vera is a HUGE test. People are sleeping on Vera. He did TKO Mir..
Tough call
I’m not feeling comfortable calling it for either, but I think in the end I’m giving the edge to Vera. I think after the loss to Couture, Vera has gone through some deep self-reflection, made some good critiques, and will be more ready to end fights decisively. He also made some great points about Jones on the Countdown show. Jones has never been truly pressured or taken an upper-echelon hit. Those are two huge variables, and I’m going to say that they will be answered against Vera, and that it will not be to Jones’s benefit. Despite recent anectodotal evidence to the contrary, I think this up-and-comer vs veteran fight will go to the veteran.
I agree
I agree with most of what you are saying here. I think there is also something to analyze below the quote above. The fact is … Jones is coming in to try to prove something in every fight. Thus far, he has been successful. But the mere mental fact that he is coming into a fight to PROVE that he has other tricks up his sleeve I think is a weakness. Someone like Vera will eat a “thinker” alive.
