Dan Hardy +515 talks Georges St-Pierre -800:
"It depends how eager he is to get the fight started," Hardy told MMAjunkie.com Radio (audio). "If it starts fast, he'll get knocked out fast. If he takes his time, he might get knocked out in a later round.
"It depends on him, really, and what kind of pace he wants to push."
... "I'm getting messages from all over the world, not just from the U.K. To my surprise, I'm getting a hell of a lot of messages from Canada.
"They usually start with, 'I'm Canadian, but,' and then it goes on to explain that they like Georges St-Pierre, but they're ready for a change, and they want me to win."

I can’t see Hardy being better than Alves. He certianly isn’t faster.
On Y2K Alex Jones was on the radio yelling that Russian was nuking the USA.
Now is this an indictment of Alex Jones, or an indictment of Jones' fans.
It seems as though people love being lied to & having their money stolen from them.

“They usually start with, ’I’m Canadian, but,’ and then it goes on to explain that they like Georges St-Pierre, but they’re ready for a change, and they want me to win.”
Bullsh*t.
Canadians want a “change” in MMA through GSP losing like they would want a “change” in hockey through losing the Olympic gold medal game.
The overwhelming majority of Canadian MMA fans would be thrilled to have GSP continue to dominate his division in exciting fashion for another 6-7 years and retire as possibly the greatest MMA fighter in the sport’s young history.

This was my thought as well.
Did I miss something, or is this guy just making crap up, or maybe the people e-mailing / facebooking / texting are just screwing with the guy. There is no way Canadians are hoping GSP gets taken out by some random guy with a few good wins and a big mouth.
The funny thing is, I kind of like Dan Hardy, but the more the guy opens his mouth, the harder it is to take the guy seriously. This could be a good fight, but please save the tough guy speach about what your going to do and just do it, because the last I checked I have heard the same speech about what guys are going to do to GSP only to see them lose.
Yes, please stop the speech you are promoting your fight with.
Matter of fact, just pull guard on GSP and save yourself the trouble of a takedown. Better yet, tap out when you walk in the cage.

well, from my experience in dealing with canadians, there is alot of hate for the french canadians by the non french ones.
Sort of true
It’s similar to how some Americans “hate” Spanish people
Not when it comes to our athletes. Too many great French Canadian goalies to hate on ‘em. Plus if you’ve ever been to Montreal, you’ll realize French Canada ain’t all bad.
Dan Hardy: “Georges’s brother called me just this morning and was like, ‘We grew up and all, but after all these years I’d liked to see him knocked down another peg.’ Me being the obliging sort of chap, alls I sad was ‘You got it.’”.

then Georges mom called Hardy and asked him if he could lay a beating on her son for that time he never took out the garbage or cleaned up his room
Quit with the BS
he was a garbage man, you know he took it out. Now his room, well, that may have been dirty.

When Hardy is left a broken, bloody, shell of his former self lying in heap in the middle of the cage, I wonder where all his new found “Canadian fans” will be?
all in his mind right where they were to begin with

Im Pulling for Hardy in this fight. I dont see it happening but if he does some how knock out Georgie it will put a smile on many faces.

But what some of you just can’t seem to grasp is that a lot more people smile when GSP wins. Hate on.

The Primetime show does no favors for GSP. He comes off looking like a smug Apollo Creed before he fought Rocky. And yes, I too, would love to see Dan ’ardy knock him out.
Yes, GSP is so smug, giving Hardy credit for being a very tough and dangerous opponent, meanwhile GSP is training harder than ever. Such an arrogant bastard, that guy.
Well I’m not exactly sure what everyone is expecting Dan ’ardy to do, either. Do people want him to talk himself out of the fight, after Dana gave him the match?
Dan’s said time and time again that GSP’s a great fighter. So what else should he do? Beg GSP for mercy before the fight? Ask for clemency?
The problem I have with the Primetime shows is that if there isn’t real heat with the 2 fighters involved, all the smack-talk from the challenger makes him seem over-confident and everyone thinks he doesn’t even belong in the UFC, let alone the octagon with GSP, while GSP is boring and stiff, but always talks about how Dan has no shot because, as we’ve heard a million times, he’s better/stronger/faster than he was when he fought Thiago.
I really don’t care what Dan Hardy does. I didn’t comment on what Hardy has said. I commented on your perception of GSP, which was about as far off base as one can get. Your attempt to re-direct the discussion from your comment on GSP being smug to what Hardy should say has zero interest to me. It’s a completely separate topic.

If there’s one thing I don’t get, it’s GSP hate. The guy is intelligent, a consummate sportsman, and trains as hard as anyone in the UFC. He gives his opponents tons of respect. He loves the fans. He dominates his opponents and turns durable guys’ faces to hamburger (save BJ, whose face is apparently made of rubber). Will a GSP hater enlighten me?
This guy just doesn't get it

Literally...
Hardy’s only chance to win is to pull off his patented “Split Decision Domination” on GSP.
If Hardy was somehow lucky enough to last 5 rounds with GSP there’s no way in hell he’d win three of them.

lol agreed
people talk about hardys knockout power but who has he really ko’d?
3 of his 4 ufc fights went to decsions and 2 of them were split i dont see him having much of a chance

I was wondering this myself. Really the only thing he did to Marcus Davis was a couple of nice counters. He did knockout some nobody, and he’s a good sized dude, but his power and standup seem overrated to me.
He’s a pretty good fighter, but I’d take Paula Thiago or Kos or Rumble over him any day.
Hardy has been on a tear since 2006
A quick check of Wikipedia shows him winning all his fights bar one (DQ’d: accidental groin strike vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida at 0:04, RD2) since September ’06
Of the twelve fights he won, we have
TKO x 4, KO x 2, Sub x 2 (one owing to strikes), UD x 2 and SD x 2
So fully half of of Dan’s wins come via KO/TKO with two more decisive wins via submission – making for 2/3 of his fights.
We’re all aware that he’s been fast-tracked to a title shot and you can argue till the cows come home over the quality of opposition he’s faced but the truth will out in a little under two weeks.

Imagine the trash talk from Hardy: “I’m gonna split decision the shit out of you!!
48-47;47-48;48-47, these numbers will haunt you for the rest of your life!”

If you take away Dan Hardy’s b.s. split decision win against Akihiro Gono, his notable wins are: Mike Swick and Marcus Davis. Mike Swick’s most notable wins are over: Ben Saunders and Marcus Davis. Ben Saunders’ most notable victory is over Marcus Davis. Basically Dan Hardy getting his title shot can be traced to three different people beating Marcus Davis.
