Shogun Interview - 02/20/10

By request, Shogun’s interview prior to UFC 110. This is not the one-on-one format as the Lyoto interview, but it’s as good as it gets. Please note that Shogun’s part is the full first clip, the beginning of the second clip up until 1:51, and resumes only on the beginning of the third clip. Since this was prior to 110 they had a segment on Big Nog and also talked about Vitor’s injury as it became known during that week. If there are any problems viewing the videos, go here.

I didn’t proof read the subs and I just noticed that there are a few grammar mistakes, sorry about that, but I think its understandable overall.

it’s a headache to translate those terms, I don’t even know them in my language, much less in English, I don’t speak medical science :p

Thanks again Orcus! Love Shogun’s public service announcement at the end. That fighter who Shogun booted just got called out on television… But Shogun is just an awesome guy and fighter. These videos are too soon! I want this fight to happen now! Whoever wins, Shogun and Lyoto are damn close in skills, though stylistically so different, and it’ll be awesome to see them each work their way back down the list of light-heavyweights. Rec’d in gratitude.

I like how Shogun said people say leg kicks dont finish the fight, but i was kicking him and the damaging him. " And the fact that he brought up the Fight Metric stats to show the audience who actually won the fight.

Also about “You have to beat the champ to become the champ.” That’s such a bullcrap… win is a win even if it’s a decision or whatever. Champ is just a fighter with the belt, there shouldn’t be any kind of advantages… It should be equal at all time.

Then again, in context of what I heard before 104 about MMA still having an uncertain place in Brazilian culture, I can see why he did that, especially with non-shakycam video footage of the incident.
