Nate has always been way to thin. Hope this added bulk works for him. WAR DIAZ Brothers!

I’d like to see Nate in WW, he looks too gaunt and sickly in LW.

by samuraisul on Mar 13, 2010 2:23 PM EST up reply actions

Nate is going ww, hence ghe bulkup, Rory markham is a ww isn’t he? wasn’t he the dude that got smashed by hardy?

by kanodogg on Mar 13, 2010 2:34 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Rory is the guy that makes up 68% of Hardy’s highlight reel.

Lol this is true. Rory was about 1 inch away from Koing Hardy as well. Rory is a kill or be killed kind of guy.

It’s funny I remember Hardy saying after the fight that Rory was the KO guy and Hardy was not. Hardy has turned into a guy known for power in only his last couple fights.

Rory is the guy that makes up 68% of Hardy’s highlight reel.

… and Rory was operating on 50% of his lung capacity. Thank God for redundancy in human biology.

nice,

Its good to see someone beat anorexia . I like him better at ww. Too bad the diaz boys are so opposed to drugs.some juice would help with quick lean muscle mass gain.

Nate’s added muscle but he’s also jumped into a weight class with much stronger wrestlers.

Now I will play the role of stupid commenter

OMFG he looks waaaaaay big just like Ubereem

Actually Canseco can’t produce testosterone naturally anymore. He has to wear a patch to get up to normal levels.

Maybe the patch got “transferred” during a grappling section.

nate's body is better suited for ww

He is good off his back I don’t the wrestlers will do too much damage to him. The added muscles will help him in every area. If nate has knock out power he would really be a force. I’m excited to see him fight.

I don’t think anyone has ever questioned the Diaz brothers on their dedication of going to the gym and doing work. So I’m excited to see what he can do at 170 with this new frame.

Just BE.

by mattman73 on Mar 13, 2010 2:16 PM EST reply actions

Exactly

That mug is pure determination. I’m a huge fan and can’t wait to see how this works out for him. If he works wrestling to go with this … ooh boy.

by asa on Mar 13, 2010 5:18 PM EST up reply actions

I think it’s a good move for him. Yes there are lots of wrestlers at 170, but there are good wrestlers at 155 too, and he seemed way to skinny to deal with them. More strength + same great jiu jitsu may be the ticket. I hope he does well @ 170.

by Thor77 on Mar 13, 2010 2:33 PM EST reply actions

Im guessing hes about 182lbs in that pic

by montiel3 on Mar 13, 2010 2:34 PM EST reply actions

HAHA! Bulk up??!

He might of put on more muscle than he had, but thats not saying much. More muscle also means, more oxygen for those muscles. He’ll need to suck in more air to keep the blood to them

by Fairtex,AZ on Mar 13, 2010 3:22 PM EST reply actions

the diaz brothers have good conditioning...

I don’t think it’ll be a big problem for Nate.

I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.

by Loot on Mar 13, 2010 3:43 PM EST up reply actions

Nick doesn’t look like he added too much lean muscle at all. In most cases, adding muscle mass greatly improves performance. While having more muscle mass raises your metabolic requirements, it also means you have more muscle fibers to recruit to do work.

by Dropkick434 on Mar 13, 2010 5:11 PM EST up reply actions

You’re thinking of guys like Phil Baroni, who does nothing but lift and get muscled up. Typically having some muscle mass on the frame is a good thing, if you go overboard and do it wrong it’s a bad thing.

by Dooda on Mar 14, 2010 12:08 AM EST up reply actions

nate looks much much better in this weight class…. Nate cardio should never come into question the guy does triathalons.

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 4:49 PM EST reply actions

Wat Nick is the only one who does triathalons?

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

http://ninjashoes.net/forum/showthread.php?18232-Nick-and-Nate-Diaz-Compete-in-Ironman-Half-Triathlon

They both do. Nick placed 41st and Nate placed 125th. Regardless Nate is a cardio freak and will not gas with a little more muscle.

Not too mention too much dehydration and being too skinny will gas you alot more than fighting at your normal weight.

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 5:03 PM EST up reply actions

Didn't realize

Nate had started too. I know he didn’t and even said he disliked them. Yeah I hate the fact he cuts soo much. Cardio has never been a problem for the Diaz brothers, it has always been those damn wrestlers.

by Riney on Mar 13, 2010 5:10 PM EST up reply actions

Honestly I do not like them. They present interesting challenges. You literally have to LNP to beat them. It’s hard to stand with them. Sure they aren’t known for power but eventually they add up. Their reach just pisses you off.

You get frustrated trying to get inside and your getting beat up. You say fuck it and take him down. You are now worse off then you were on the feet. Not to mention them calling you a pussy and a bitch from the time the fight is signed till the bell rings.

I feel bad for any fighter dealing with these guys. They are absolutely matchup nightmares for most people.

You have to give them respect though. They are tough ass guys, I never see them get Koed and they keep on coming talking shit too.

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 5:54 PM EST up reply actions

I love both guys.

Wish they could handle wrestlers though. I was giddy when Nick put a beat down on Shamrock.

by Riney on Mar 13, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Also surely you have a point about having too much muscle. Nate is nowhere approaching someone who has too much muscle to maintain good cardio.

Perfect example would be like Vitor Belfortt at 205 he was a huge bodybuilding mess.
But we have seen Thiago Alves who is huge for 170 with a ton of bulky muscle mass have great cardio.

Too much muscle isn’t really as much of a problem anymore you either have good cardio or u don’t.

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 4:50 PM EST reply actions

"Nate Diaz" and "bulk-up"

never thought i’s see those in the same sentence….

by DrGoodspd on Mar 13, 2010 5:43 PM EST reply actions

So when do we get to see a picture of the “bulked-up” Nate Diaz? sarcasm

by stinkinburrows on Mar 13, 2010 5:55 PM EST reply actions

That is a perfect weight for Nate. He looks like he can fight at 100% of his capabilties. I’m excited to see him fight.

Note this does not mean he is an automatic top 10 or that he’ll even get by Rory. Just saying we will see the best Nate has to offer at this weight.

by p123 on Mar 13, 2010 6:03 PM EST reply actions

The Diaz's mortal enemy: WRESTLING!

Ok, I’ll admit I’m a bit biased against the Diaz’s. They just come off as such dicks to me. Regardless however, I’ll admit their boxing and jiu-jitsu (well BJJ great) but cmon, would it kill them to learn how to sprawl? If a guy like Nate is tired of a Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida controlling them to a decision, learn a switch, learn a reversal, learn a sprawl for God’s sake. Don’t come complaining to me about losing a decision to a boring wrestler with sub defense because you feel so confident on the ground you feel no need for learning how to defend a takedown.
