Man this guy got the best job in all of MMA. Who’s another fighter who can fight unranked fighters make a ton of money and never really have to face stiff competition unless he wants to..

Who is it thats taken such a liking to him the japanese?

I think Overeem meganess as in his spectacular build makes him such a hot commodity. If I were him I would never come back to the states and just continue killing it overseas.. Especially if he is using what people think he is using.

Regardless Overeem is a money making machine!

Fedor hasn’t fought one guy as talented as Badr Hari in the past few years..

by LtotheK on Mar 10, 2010 12:22 PM EST up reply actions

I think you missed the ‘MMA’ part of the original post.

No one is questioning the caliber of Overeem’s competition in kickboxing.

by Steve4192 on Mar 10, 2010 12:29 PM EST up reply actions

Hari hasn’t fought MMA before? oh.

by LtotheK on Mar 10, 2010 12:53 PM EST up reply actions

He also only fought Hari in kickboxing.

I don't think there is an HW in MMA

with as much talent as Badr Hari has for K1. He’s a devastatingly skilled competitor.

Overeem is a Joke.

Once he faces a real fighter he’ll deflate fast.

by At Least On Paper on Mar 10, 2010 11:40 AM EST reply actions

Overeem has already faced real fighters.

Shogun, Nog, Liddell… he’s lost them all. Looks like he finally found a niche for himself: fighting undersized / underskilled opponents for big bucks in Japan. Overeem has middle management written all over him: get paid the most possible by doing the least.

Lol regardless you must give him credit. He makes a shitton of money for fighting people who wouldn’t be considered a match. He has the look. He is a freaking star that can’t be denied.

When he gets in the States we’ll see his true colors but for now let’s enjoy the hype of MEGAREEM Lol

Overeeem looks like the guy u want to pick as your character to fight with in a video game…

Even Megareem looked disgusted after the fight. He knew that he could take no pride in such an absurdly lopsided(and brutal) victory.

by Kefka on Mar 10, 2010 12:44 PM EST reply actions

I just watched this again

And I’m pretty sure Fujita threw exactly one strike — a crappy, slow, looping counter right hand that missed. At least he was a moving target.

Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

by Monte Fisto on Mar 10, 2010 12:50 PM EST reply actions

Yea man I guess I never watched too many of Overeems fights. I can honestly say that I am disgusted. He should be ashamed of himself. I can’t wait till someone kicks his ass, he’s like a bully.

by p123 on Mar 10, 2010 12:55 PM EST reply actions

Am I the only one who feels bad for Fujita here. I mean he took the fight, he wanted the paycheck, I get that, but this is almost amoral. I mean with Thompson at least Overeem had the decency to choke him out.

by Neil Manich on Mar 10, 2010 1:00 PM EST reply actions

Fujita has a notoriously unbreakable chin.

There’s even a Cracked article about it. Overeem is the first guy to break him like that.

And lets not forget Fujita also took fights with Fedor, Cro Cop (2x), and PRIDE Wanderlei. His career is built off getting pummeled and either not falling down or being too dumb/courageous to stay down.

Yeah

But the guys like a hundred and fifty years old. Pear that with the ridiculous beatings he took which you just listed, what’d they think was going to happen?

The man known simply as "Christmas Cheesesteak"

by Neil Manich on Mar 10, 2010 1:11 PM EST up reply actions

He's 39

younger than Hendo or Chuck, and way younger than Randy. Plus, early in his career he beat Kerr, Ken Shamrock, Gilbert Yvel, and Takayama all in a row (if you leave out tossing the towel to Coleman at the start of a tourney match). He also made Fedor go chickenlegged. Combine all that with the fact that Japan doesn’t have a “What have you done for me lately?” mentality, and it’s a workable matchup.

That said, it’s the scariest KO this side of Lindland.

Japanese 39 is way older than an American 39. I know why it happened, but its still ridiculous. I’m just saying poor guy got his face smashed in.
