Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller Planned for UFC 114 in May
It looks like Michael "The Count" Bisping (18-3, 8-3 UFC) will be getting right back on task following his decision loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 last month, as he'll meet fellow middleweight Dan Miller (11-3, 3-2 UFC) at UFC 114 in May, according to a report from MMA Junkie:
Multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that UFC officials are working to sign the bout and that at least one competitor has agreed to the matchup.
It seems like Bisping should be the significant favorite in this bout, as even though he doesn't excel at one particular aspect of MMA, he should be able to best Miller in certain areas. Although Miller was expected to have a striking advantage over Demian Maia and barely survive (if at all) on the ground in their fight at UFC 109, he ended up getting out-pointed on the feet by the grappler, although he did hold his own better than most expected him to on the ground. If Maia can out-strike Miller, Bisping should certainly be able to, and even though Miller is a very legitimate threat on the ground, Bisping has proven to have excellent defensive BJJ in his fights against Denis Kang and Charles McCarthy, among others.
How the bout order plays out for UFC 114 is anyone's guess, as the event now features many more main card-worthy fights than there is actual room for on the PPV portion, but Bisping-Miller will likely be granted a televised spot.
The current rumored UFC 114 card is after the jump:
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
Diego Sanchez vs. John Hathaway
Amir Sadollah vs. Dong-Hyun Kim
Cyrille Diabate vs. Luis Cane
Aaron Simpson vs. Chris Leben
Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon
Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares
Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
Aaron Riley vs. Joe Brammer
Ryan Jensen vs. Jesse Forbes

Bisping better work on guillotine defense then.
If Wanderlei can catch him, Miller could rip his head off.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I almost think that Miller lost standing up to Maia because he was terrified of it going to the ground. As it turns out, he didn’t need to be too worried, cause when he did get on the ground, he was alright.
I think in the Bisping fight he’s gonna want it on the ground right away, and not mess with Bispings hands. Interesting fight, I think we’re going to see a LOT of Bisping’s ground defense.
Absolutely. He was terrified of getting taken down and didn’t commit to the striking at all because of this. I agree further that he’s gonna want it on the ground and Bisping will be wary of that. Dan will commit more but won’t easily get takedowns and will still be outpointed standing up. Bisping via gnp TKO or uni decision.
I’m thinking the Guillard and the Escudero fights are gonna be on spike
Its a toss up between the Cane and the Amir fight on who will get the first fight of the PPV probably Amir thought since he is a TUF winner
Duffee-Russow is one to watch as well. Whoever wins is going to be a HW who’ll get a pretty serious push in the UFC after this fight.
Fixed that for ya.

I like TODDUFFEE
a lot. I hope his start continues to rise, he is brash and fun.
I think a lot of impressive talent is going to end up on the prelims
just because of the stacked nature of this card.
Even going with your theory, it means that Duffee, the Simpson-Leben fight, and either Amir-DHK or Cane-Diabate will be on the prelims, and you can easily argue for the inclusion of any of those on either the Spike portion or as the first fight of the PPV card.
Let’s get a 2-hour Spike prelims block, Dana!
2 Hour prelims would be awesome
But I’m willing to bet we’ll still see a ton of these fights.
Blackout612- "Wuts teh UFC?"
Ubernoober- "It like two guy who just stand and swing for fence and try to knock each other shit out it awesome"
Yeah but the problem with a 2 hour prelim is if there are quick finishes
Then the likelihood of all fights making it on air is higher.
Although I wouldn’t complain if it happened.

This is a very good matchup.
At this point, I really like Miller in this one. Of course, I really don’t care for Bisping. If Miller can get it to the ground, he can easily take this fight.
A year ago, I'd agree
But after seeing Sonnen smother Miller, and Bisping completely negate Kang’s BJJ (which is arguably better than Miller’s) I don’t think Dan will be able to sub Bisping.
You could be correct...
but I think Miller needs to bounce back from those losses, and this could be his chance. Bisping has proven to be formidable on the ground, but he doesn’t pose the problems for Miller that either Maia or Sonnen did. As for Kang, that was an impressive win for Bisping, because of the way he finished him. However, I just don’t see Kang as a top-level middleweight at this point in his career, so I don’t value that win as highly as some do.

and you’re insinuating that it’s Mirkos fault?

I really dislike Bisping.
Nothing in particular. I just don’t care for the dude. If Miller can sub him, that would be like Christmas coming early.
You have to be the man... you have to be very, like, alpha male with her. You know? Decide what you do and everything. So, show her who's the boss, you know? - GSP
I think you can put the Guillard, Escudero and Duffee fights all on Spike and use the Leben/Simpson, Cane/Diabate fights for the PPV if need be
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.
I bet they keep Duffee early hoping for a fast KO they can show later

I think a good bet for a KO is Cane clocking Diabate, but I haven’t seen Diabate outside of the Shogun fight

bisping needs to step up his game if he wants to remain competitive tho, all he has going for himself is the speed advantage he has on the feet over most opponents. he doesn’t have knockout-power or any submissions.
his defence off his back is pretty decent too, tho. it might just help if he started following through with his punches instead of the shying-away-bitchslap-dancing he displays usually.
Go big red!
Why do people dislike Bisping? I mean, what’s the point in taking it personally? Waahh, he’s arrogant (or something)! He’s British! I hate him. Come on.
If you were to say, “He sucks”, I’d understand. But just to dislike him, I mean, wassup with internalizing all this shit?
Anyways: close fight this one.
Bisping
is an arrogant tool. Most people don’t like arrogant tools. I like my tools to be only Rigid or DeWalt.
I fail to see the rabid hatred you seem to be describing. I just don’t care for Bisping’s personality and I don’t think he’s all that dangerous against top competition in his division. He’s probably a decent enough guy. He just isn’t my cup of tea, so to speak. That’s sort of what I’m reading from some of the other people as well.
There is someone who hearts Bisping: Brent Brookhouse. The dude’s a sucker for MMA fighters with slick striking. As for me, I got some joy out of Hendo blasting him with the right. That’s not an internal feeling, and I’m a bit of Hendo fan, so make of it what you will.

Looking at this main card
It’s possible every fight ends up with a TUF alum losing. Rashad, Forrest, Diego/Hathaway, Bisping, and Amir.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is driving......right into a brick wall at the end of the tunnel.
Miller hasn’t looked good in his last 2 fight so this is a make it or break it contest for him. He needs to get his mind clear of whatever is going on that is holding him back i’ve seen several of his past fights and he just hasn’t had that same confidence he’s had in the past. He is a very talented guy he just needs to take this fight like it’s all or nothing go out and take it to Bisping and he will make a name for himself if he wins this fight.
