Which might be smart by the UFC...
because his fights make for easy promotion to the main card if time needs to be filled.

also interesting to note that Anderson Silva got 2 bonuses each, for the Hendo fight and the Forrest fight.
Sub and FOTN on Hendo, and KO/FOTN on Forrest.
so that’s only 3 fights where he won bonuses amounting to $280,000
Which is crap because how was him vs. Forrest FOTN? It was like 30 seconds of a drunk guy swinging his arms and then running into a brick wall 3 times.

which is exactly why it makes sense that he got KOTN there. but shouldn’t FOTN usually go to back and forth wars, not one-sided beatdowns? i understand if there isn’t another exciting fight on the card that a brutal KO or sub can get the bonus, but was there a complete lack of exciting, actually competitive fights that night? i don’t know off the top of my head
Goldie: "Michael Jordan-esque in his grappling skills is Travis Lutter."
Rogan: "No, no he's not. No."
UFC doesn’t have “I can’t believe what I just saw!” of the Night bonus, so they gave him FOTN.

fight of the night is a vague term. a. silva/griffin is still to this day one of the most amazing displays of skill i’ve ever seen. i have no problem with it being fight of the night. i think too often fight of the night goes to guys like jorge gurgel who sure, had a back and forth, close war, but also displayed some of the sloppiest, shittiest mma in the modern era.
right on anton
Though Anderson’s double bonuses are almost double exciting.
I actually think a case can be made for Lytle, who always seems to be in good scraps, despite the fact that this is a pretty flawed way to determine “most exciting.” There are often fights that don’t win that deserve at least a co-bonus or something. And it would probably make more sense to do it in terms of percentage of bouts rather than sheer number. For example, I dislike Lesnar, but I’d definitely be more excited to see him fight than Lytle. He hasn’t had enough fights to qualify.
Also, match making plays a part as well, right? Lytle is usually in there with solid fighters, and he’s “impossible” to KO, so there’s bound to be some action.
Use all ten points.
Lesnar, in his 4 UFC fights, doesn't have a single Fight Night bonus..
not that he needs the extra cash though.

Pet theory of mine has that guys on PPV buy contracts are unoffically ineligible for those bonuses.

B.J. and Anderson both have PPV% contracts if I recall correctly.

Depends on which fights.
Anderson, for example, only got into the PPV buys stuff with this latest contract.
I hope Lytle is saving some of that money for his Alzheimer's fund.
Because taking that much damage to the melon will have its long term costs.
Even still he's taking much less damage than most boxers....
Chris will be fine. He has taken alot of damage but nothing in compairson to the average boxer. Also, in route to a few of those bonuses he didn’t take much damage at all.

A separate window showed up asking not be to closed and the survey proceeded after I exited BE, it did say the survey was for this site. It asked mostly about health related issues and I didnt finish it because it was irritating.

Ugh, bad statistics
I’m not saying that Lytle is a boring fighter or that he’s not one of the most exciting, but these numbers need a little more exploration:
Sub of the night against Foster was only submission of the night
Sub of the night against Gilliam was one of two subs (the other was a pedestrian RNC)
KO of the night against Bradley was one of two KO’s
So there are three that he won almost by default
Next is the issue of matchmaking. Two of Lytle’s FOTN awards came in fights against other fighters who own multiple “of the night” honors themselves. Paul Taylor has two FOTN bonuses independent of his fight against Lytle and Marcus Davis has a FOTN, a SOTN, and KOTN independent of his fight against Lytle (although the FOTN and SOTN came in the same fight).
And finally, the determination of who gets these awards is entirely subjective. The UFC likes to reward people this way, sometimes when there’s a more deserving candidate. It’s simply impossible to make a pronouncement that he’s the most exciting based on this evidence.

Dude, most exciting fighter is a subjective thing to start with. It’s just an eye catching headline for an interesting article breaking down who wins the most UFC bonuses. If you think statistics can actually prove someone is the “most exciting fighter” than perhaps you’re missing the point.
Time has a way of smoothing these things out
Yeah, there’s gonna be special considerations, but if you look over a long enough time span, the truly “exciting” fighters will rise to the top.
even so, he still has 2 more bounses than the next tier
stop hating good fighters make good fights, chris is a good fighter

So there are three that he won almost by default
Horse biscuits.
In order to win KO or sub of the night, you have to finish your opponent. As you pointed out, on a card where very few guys got finished by KO/sub, Lytle delivered. Those bonuses were well earned simply by the fact that he took care of business and finished his opponent.
Besides that, the examples you used are just hilarious. The subs against Gilliam and Foster were slick as hell and likely would have won sub of the night on any card not featuring Dustin Hazelett. The Gilliam sub was in the running fo sub of the year and suspect the Foster sub will be too when December rolls around.
My boy did an article on Lytle right before the 110 fight. Check it

Stand-n-bang arm-swinging Chris Lytle is one of the absolute dullest fighters in the world to me.
Loved that kneebar in his last fight though, that was great.
I wish he would go back to being more tactical, but you can’t argue with the results. An extra 310K in bonus goes a long way towards funding his family’s future. Lytle’s decision to emphasize excitement over tactical brilliance has made huge impact on his bank account.
No doubt about that. It’s just not what I prefer to see as a fan.

Yeah.
Thanks to everyone who rec’d my post. Not sure why it didn’t get pushed to the front page before this one (no offense to this poster). The mods seemed to like mine…I’m sure this double post was just coincidence. Lytle is just all the rage right now ;) I actually wrote the post last December in preparation for his fight with Kim. I gave the Melendez/Thompson bout as a great example of brawling and technical fighting in the same bout, but then changed it when Lytle got yet another award.
