That was hardly invented for Amelie; my father-in-law was in the “Gnome Liberation Army” in his college days, and they did shit like that all the time. He still has polaroids of stolen garden gnomes at Waterloo Station, Trafallgar Square, etc…

If i was a CSI agent i would zoom on the glass for the relection of who is taking the picture. And i would determine which one of his friends drinks bud lite and a mixed drinks with lemons
There is a muffler shop near my house that has a 6 foot tall man made out of exhaust pipe and mufflers. Years ago some funnymen stole it and kept for 6 months or so and took numerous pictures of it in different locales including taking it to the beach. Then one night they returned it to the muffler shop and left the pictures documenting the muffler mans adventure. Dedication to humor at its finest
