Mirko Cro Cop training with a real camp:
Mirko now trains 1 time per day. After he loss to JDS he decided to go train under the world famous Muay Thai expert Ivan Hypollite of Vos Gym.
"If only I was this smart at the age of 20. After all this I realize that you can not prepare well without a real camp and an authoritative coach. That's the biggest mistake in my career. I was to lazy to go train at an elite camp."
"For example Hyppolite kills me on the pads and then I spar with three partners in a six minute round."
But didn't you do that in your own gym with your croatian sparring partners?
"I did, but then I couldn't spar to KO my sparring partner because those were mostly people who were training with me out of favor to me."
"In Amsterdam it's a battle for life and death. I go for the KO and so does my sparring partner. In the future I think I will do 4 (consecutive) week preparations in Amsterdam."
Mirko departed for Australia today.

I'm a sucker for Cro Cop...
I like his intensity and his humility. I would have loved if the UFC did another international TUF but with a team consisting of guys from Eastern Europe with Cro Cop as a coach but I’m sure he is seen as not a big enough draw for the show.

Cool
I hope this new camp pays off. Would really like to see him stir the pot a little bit in the HW division.
I think he should be working on other aspects of MMA such as wrestling and BJJ, going to a Muay Thai camp doesn’t sound like the best option.

Pride is Forever
I think it’s good, he has enough defensive skills in BJJ and wrestling. Striking is his strongest weapon but it evaporated a bit. Training with Hippolite might revitalise it and make him more confident.

the thing is he needs to constantly train all parts of MMA IMO to stay relevant, not just what you’re good at.

Pride is Forever
Losing via submission has never really been a problem for him and he has under rated take down defense. He has been losing in the striking department which is supposed to be his bread and butter. That needs to be his main focus, getting back what made him so feared. Add to that, Rothwell is not much of a threat to take him down and I think Mirko is doing the right thing.

Yeah, I understand. The thing is that he’s not good at what he was good.
He was relevant because of his kickboxing, but it has diminished with years. Hyppolite might shake the cobwebs off of his striking and make him game in this department. Will wrestling and BJJ trainings change much? I don’t think so.

We hear this from so often from fighters who are on a downward slope in the final years of their careers, but it usually doesn’t bear any fruit. Didn’t we hear this from Chuck? I’d like to be optimistic, and I’m happy he hasn’t quit, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Yes, definitely toss this one into the "believe it when I see it" column.
Same goes for Chuck being a more well rounded fighter. CC desperately needs a LHK in the UFC. Desperately.
You have to be the man... you have to be very, like, alpha male with her. You know? Decide what you do and everything. So, show her who's the boss, you know? - GSP
when was his last lhk?
has it really been since pride? shit i hate seeing awesome fighters get old

Does this mean he was training there for less than 4 weeks this time?
I so hope this bodes well
It’s like your girlfriend has gotten a little bigger, and she ups and decides to buy a gym membership. It’s what you do with it. We’ll see Cro Cop, we’ll see…

So...
Mirko is preparing for a K1 match? I know the stand up in Vos Gym is second to nothing, but it is stand-up for K1… Not MMA
And where did he talk about his ground game training?
Will Rothwell try to take him down?
I doubt it.
this kinda stuff is what makes some of the earlier legends of the sport even more impressive
achieving as much as they did, without the attention to detail and crazy routines that modern camps have. pretty crazy really.
probably a case of too little too late for mirko, but i’m sure he’ll sucker me in to thinking he can pull off the win all over again.
It's cool that he's training really hard for his next fight,
but I’m not so sure, going hard on practice all the time is the right thing to do for a guy at the tail end of his career.
i still get crazy excited to watch this guy fight no matter what. I just love the thought of the LHK being pulled at anytime….win or lose idc because he spoiled us with hands down the best highlight tapes EVER.
me too
CroCop got me into MMA (A friend at the gym showed me his highlight reel and I have never looked back) and I will forever be hopelessly devoted to Mirko for that.

I want Cro Cop to coach in the Ultimate Fighter. I know english really isn’t his first language, but goddamn would his pranks and overall personality translate well.
