Kenny Florian disagrees with Takanori Gomi's prediction of "knockout in the first round" in Kampiro:
"I think he will find out very quickly that that’s going to be a very difficult thing to do," Florian said. "I didn’t get to where I am by getting beat in the first round and I’m looking forward to seeing if that’s going to come true. Gomi is a tough guy. He was the best in the world for a long time."

Part of me wants Gomi to finish KenFlo and bring back the glory days. It would set up a HUGE PPV with BJ.
The logical part of me wants KenFlo to smoke Gomi in 1 and put another nail in the “Japanese fighters are better” coffin. Either way its a win/win for the UFC. They get a mega fight with Gomi/Penn or we see yet another Japanese fighter who couldn’t cut it.
Could potentially lead to Aoki in the UFC. He’s obsessed with the Japanese nationalism thing, and a swift KO of Gomi would encourage him to prove the Japanese aren’t “weak”.
I hope this happens.
I think Aoki knows where he stands. He wanted to fight Joe Stevenson, that is just about where I would place Aoki in the UFC.
it’ll be difficult b/c KenFlo will iceskate around the ring backing up and circling the vast majority of the time.
Gatti. Dekkers. Pele. Aoki. Kang. Vanderlei. Basillio. Harry Greb.

Somehow I find the mental image of KenFlo wearing a sequin spangled outfit and skating circles around his opponent whiling punching them incredibly hilarious.

I really do believe that Kenny is the #2 LW. Tough welcome to the UFC.
I really don’t understand why everyone keeps saying what a huge ppv Penn vs. Gomi would be. No american fans really know who he is, only the hardcore fans that would be the ppv regardless. Even just from a competitive standpoint, it’s a rematch for a fight that Gomi was better, and Penn was worse than current day. Not sure how intriguing that is to diehard or casual fans.

I will be rooting for Gomi, but I honestly think that Florian takes this pretty handily. I think that some MMA fans just want to see someone, and I mean anyone in Lightweight to be some sort of threat to BJ Penn. We know that Florian is not, so many feel that a rejuvenated Gomi may be a threat to BJ.
can't wait for this fight
i hope they both are at their best… i want gomi, ko rd 1 but am thinking it’s gonna be florian rd 3 sub
