How does Mirko always end up on the main card? Is it in his contract or something?

by JRN on Feb 8, 2010 9:12 AM EST reply actions

always a chance of him pulling out a main card knock out and you dont want him doing it on the prelims… also just pure name recognition and legendary status, every time the crowd goes crazy for him.

by Killuminati on Feb 8, 2010 9:14 AM EST up reply actions

At this point, he hasn’t pulled out a head kick KO in over three years. Four of his five UFC fights have been debacles of one sort or another. Is there really anybody buying a ticket or a pay-per-view to see Cro Cop anymore? I guess there must be. And I suppose there’s nothing better on the prelims than Mirko/Rothwell.

by JRN on Feb 8, 2010 9:27 AM EST up reply actions

I sort of think it’s like paying way too much for a baseball or basketball player. Once you’ve committed a certain amount of money to the guy, the guy is playing. He’s not sitting on the bench.

How did he end up on any card? I thought he was retired.

Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now. No, I wouldn't want them back.

Usually i would agree with you but there really isnt anything on that undercard that it hink deserves to be in front of Mirko fighting Rothwell.

Bader/Jardine

THAT is good match-making. Bader has looked good since winning TUF, and Jardine is the perfect test for him to see if he’s ready to be more than a prelim-on-Spike fighter. For Jardine, it might be a small step down for him compared to who he has fought but Jardine needs a win bad.

I’ve got Bader winning, which means he fights Rashad Evans next right?

by mason_beer on Feb 8, 2010 9:16 AM EST reply actions

I can see Bader winning using his bread and butter: wrestling. The only thing is that if Bader uses his wrestling to win this fight, I can see the fight going to decision because it may turn into lay n prey. Jardine has that funky standup which could confuse Bader, but at the same time, Jardine has to look out for Bader’s power, yet Jardine still has the advantage in the standup.

Bisping is a good underdog bet, considering Wanderlei’s making his first cut to MW. If he doesn’t blitz him in the first Bisping could definitely win a decision.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I know how confusing it must be for you Americans to have to think about other countries. It’s okay we don’t mind. It’s a big world out there. :P

The money on Stevenson is surely to rise. That’s a steal of a bet at those numbers and I don’t bet on the fights.

by JAYGK95 on Feb 8, 2010 10:04 AM EST reply actions

I know this isn’t gonna happen, but since it is in australia, I think it would be f’n awesome if they got schiavello to do commentary along with rogan and goldie.

I went big on The Axe Murderer

I have a Round Robin with Silva/Bader/Nog, a parlay of the same, a straight up on Silva, and a cover RR on Silva/Jardine/Cain.

I have a huge issue with betting on people whose only route to victory I see is a decision, I have an even bigger issue when those people whose best shot is a decision have shown themselves capable of walking right into their opponents gameplan.

Betting big on a guy who’s really cutting weight for the first time is a poor decision, especially when Wanderlei is basically living off of his reputation from PRIDE right now.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 8, 2010 10:27 AM EST up reply actions

That's where I kind of disagree...

He fought at 195 at UFC 99, and that was an extremely close decision that ended up being FotN. So, he’s had like 8 months to cut 10lbs? That’s not really “cutting weight for the first time”, and I think the line reflects that misconception. He didn’t really look close to gassing against Franklin, so with 8 months lead time from a fighter not known for slacking I sincerely doubt he gasses in this one.

So basically the bet comes down to do you think Silva has completely lost it, I don’t. I think his fight against Franklin showed he still has something left, and a bit of Silva something, is probably greater than Bisbings everything.

Not that I would place a bet

What’s the best online sports book? A "friend " of mine hit a 9 NFL game parlay for $ 2500 on sportsbook.com and they seem to want way to much personal info for a payout. Just wondering

There are three prelims that I hope we get to see

I really hope to see the Reljic vs Dollaway prelim the most, with Foster vs Lytle next, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see these two fights on a Spike prelims. I am interested in seeing K-Sos vs Bonnar as well, and I am actually going with Bonnar to win a decision. Also, WAR Sotiropoulos (even though I think Stevenson will end up winning, but I will be rooting for Sotiropoulos).

by chrisbboy82 on Feb 8, 2010 12:35 PM EST reply actions

Yeah exactly. There are exactly one too many good fights on this card. Hopefully they will fit them in if there are some quick finishes

by HighNoon on Feb 8, 2010 2:45 PM EST up reply actions

This card is amazing. And oddly, three of the biggest PRIDE stars ever on the main card. I’m pulling big for Nogueira in this one…

by TLow on Feb 8, 2010 1:03 PM EST reply actions

Can’t wait to be there. I’ve got Nog, Stevenson (unfortunately) and Bader as my bets.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.
