Brock Lesnar on the Cover of UFC Undisputed 2010

981301_149885_front_medium

Brock Lesnar will be in the cover of UFC Undisputed 2010, as THQ looks to follow up big after selling 3.5 million-units on the first game. It is set to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 25.

[UPDATE] by Nick Thomas - Brock Lesnar likely to return in July:
"He could fight probably in July (in Vegas), end of June or July," White told a group of media following the UFC 109 pre-fight press conference on Thursday.

Cool design but not a big Lesnar fan, I’d rather see BJ, Anderson, or anyone actually. Anyone heard if they changed career mode? I wasn’t a big fan of the first.

They changed it. Here's part of the preview
We’ll be talking a lot more about our Career mode experience later this year, but what we can say is that we’ve put a lot of time and effort into making this mode an even more enriching and authentic experience for players. For example, an element we felt was missing from last year’s Career mode was the sense of investment in a fighter and each of his fights. We’ve included several new features to help build up each fight and give them more meaning. An example of this is a new system we’ve added called “Game Is Watching You.” The GIWY system tracks everything players are doing during the fighter’s career and reflects it through commentary during fights. Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg will reference the fighter’s previous fights, his training partners, titles held, and other things he does during his career. Opponents will also take notice of performances and adjust their fight styles and strategies to counter strengths and take advantage of weaknesses. We’re excited at the progress we’ve made to this year’s Career mode over last year’s [mode] and will release more information down the line.

Also
One example of this is the revision of our fighting technique system and the introduction of the fight camp concept to our Career mode. In UFC 2009 Undisputed, players chose a striking technique and a grappling technique at the beginning of their careers and then worked exclusively on leveling those two techniques. This year, players will be able to visit fight camps and work on individual moves that they want to improve on or add to their arsenal. For example, if players want to strengthen their guillotine choke or learn something more esoteric like a Peruvian Neck Tie, they’d go to a fight camp and work on it. Afterward, they’d be free to go learn something else from another fight camp, like a judo throw or a special takedown.

sounds good. EA’s game could be great but THQ has got the advantage because they already released a product and have had feedback on what they need to improve. I expect this years game to be much better overall.

Nice. Sounds like it has more depth. Hopefully online won’t have a bunch of randohs picking Sean Sherk or Dan Henderson and covering up then doing an overhand right knowing damn well the lag saved them!

Wonder how many styles are there to learn

LOL camps.

That was the most annoying part for me in the first game. Not only your sparring partner wouldn’t do anything to help you achieve your training, but nothing was translated in french or explained, wich means all my xboxlive contacts were asking me to translate stuff or to explain what side mount means, caus eI4m he only one with descent english and some MMA knowledge in my list.

People will say what they will and hate like they always seem to do with anything dealing with Brock but having the HW champion and the #1 draw in the sport on the cover is smart business IMO.

“All right team, last year we had a fighter on the cover who had just lost his title. How can we improve on the same concept this year?”

In addition to our six returning fighting techniques (boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, judo, and Brazilian jujitsu), we’ve added three more: karate, Greco-Roman wrestling, and sambo. We’ve also moved away from the concept of one striking fighting technique and one grappling fighting technique in favor of a system that allows fighters to learn individual moves as they see fit. We feel this more accurately represents the type of cross-discipline training that the modern UFC fighter needs in order to compete at the highest levels.

Aslong as i can use the cage and have the ability to learn different moves from different styles i am happy. Only being able to use one striking and one grapple really limited how much of a true martial artist you could become.

I also hope they can somehow change up the #1 contender setup. Every time you become champion, you end up fighting the same 3 or 4 guys over and over.

by MikeD32 on Feb 5, 2010 12:10 AM EST up reply actions

Dude, even if the ref could do something except stand off to the side of the cage or crouch would be nice. It was fun at first but now it irritates me when i ko a guy from the mount & yamasaki is just crouching then standing 4 feet away looking bored as im laying into a clearly unconscious opponent a good 4-5 times after it should be over. Maybe if the opponents could be tko’d on the ground instead of knocked out (you know like they get overwhelmed with strikes & try to cover up while the ref looks on closely waiting for the right moment to step in) that’d be good too..

I cannot say enough about what this video game did for the popularity of the UFC. Suddenly everyone at school was talking MMA. Well trying to at least. This game was HUGE for the sport.

This also means they are probably going to be giving fighters their real movesets. That means Wandy gets the MT Clinch and Boxing hooks. I can’t wait.

I was wondering why they didn’t release Roy Nelson, Ross Pearson and James Wilks as DLC like they did with Efrain Escudero and Ryan Bader.

by CSKit on Feb 5, 2010 7:42 AM EST up reply actions

My main concern is,

are they going to include actual red hair this time around? Or is the vilification of my fellow red headed master race going to continue? I can make a pretty decent looking me but then i end up with this drab polluted orangeish brown hair, totally blows. Just like samson, my power lies in my curly locks & they NEED to be the correct colour..

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but what about starting a career mode in the TUF house?
You can have high profile fighters as coaches giving you tips during your training.
Maybe they can let you make a corney video showing why you belong there for the online play.
