Rediculous from the Start
Anyone who actually listened to the initial interview in which this was discussed would know that this was all hypothetical in the first place. Its a great example of the media grabbing something, misrepresenting it and running with it.
i thought he explained this pretty well already… he said he was thinking about it, and it would be very tough, and if he did go for it, he would have to leave mma for a year or more… and that being a trashman wasnt so bad as a teenager.

NEWS FLASH
GSP is considering leaving his MMA career to compete on an African hockey team at the 2014 Olympics.
Yeah....
…Then what was that whole “I don’t want to be 70 years old wondering what could have been…” talk? He’s downplaying this pretty hard, but he wasn’t misquoted.
Don't believe a word I say, I don't train BJJ.

If you like it, you should put a rec on it.
Its not just a question of misquoting, but of taking something he said which in context was largely hypothetical and musing, and misrepresenting it as something far more definite.
People say things like “I don’t want to regret not doing x” all the time, but it doesn’t mean they seriously plan on doing x. Its pretty obvious if you watch his interviews on this issue that it was never meant to be taken as seriously as it interpreted.
