Chael Sonnen's wheel of trash-talk lands on Mark Coleman this week:

"Even though Mark Coleman is a bum, he wins fights. Who’s Mark Coleman’s coach? Who is Mark Coleman’s training partner? What is the name of the gym that he trains at? And don’t tell me the Hammer House. I want to know an actual building, an actual piece of real estate with a sign on it. Where does he train? Everybody has a coach. Tiger Woods has a coach. Michael Jordan had a coach. Mayweather has a coach. Mark Coleman does not have a coach. Everybody has a team. Everybody has a team backing them. Tiger Woods has a team. Kobe has a team. All the greats have a team of any sport. He doesn’t have a team! He’s his own coach, he’s his own team. He doesn’t even have a gym he belongs to. That’s just silly. How you could be in this for this long and be a one man show.

On one hand (it) is remarkable. On one hand, maybe I’m looking at it wrong. Maybe I need to compliment him a little bit, but it’s just silly. That’s not what a dedicated guy does."

I was under the impression Coleman was training with Tompkins now?

It may be my contrarian nature, but I’m becoming a bigger Chael Sonnen fan just about every day. He’s like a conservative Nick Diaz.

Chael’s trash talk is fine with me when the subject is someone he might actually fight, but being a dick to Coleman has no real point to it. They won’t ever fight, he’s just trashing a legend of the sport for no real purpose other than cheap heat.

Here’s to Chael getting wrecked by Marquardt and having to post another video blog about his undying loyalty to Zuffa so that they don’t cut him.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

Right

Coleman has accomplished 10x more in MMA than Sonnen could ever hope to. Who’s he gonna call out next, Sakuraba? Don Frye?

by ufc4 on Feb 3, 2010 1:23 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Randy used to be a figure at Team Quest

where Chael trains. It’s camp loyalty, hence why he attacks the camp, or lack thereof, of Coleman.

Funny Chael....

Coleman has accomplished way more being a “one man show” than you have accomplished with your “team” pushing you along…

by TDITZ on Feb 3, 2010 11:26 AM EST reply actions   1 recs

I really don’t know about that ? Chaels wins seem to be a bit better in name value then then Colemans.

by Shocbomb on Feb 3, 2010 12:16 PM EST up reply actions

Winning via. Broken Arm isn’t really a win. ;)

by grein on Feb 3, 2010 1:11 PM EST up reply actions

Coleman didn’t break Shogun’s arm. Shogun was falling, posted his arm and it broke. To claim he has a win over Shogun while technically true, is very very misleading

No need to tell me that, since it was my point.

It wasn’t a reply to you but a reply to the thread, I guess I should have been more clear

One could argue that Coleman throwing Shogun to the ground is what precipitated him landing wrong and breaking his arm. I personally think it’s a fluke way to win, but he beat Shogun and that’s a fact.

The main point is Shocbomb is retarded.

neither is decisioning Paulo Filho while he has Max Payne hallucinations

It’s a funny thing to wish nobody watched that (the Mark Wahlberg movie version)… but also hoping you’ll get the reference. I’ve mocked it up here, so that you don’t have to watch either one of the worst movies of all time or one of the worst fights of all time:

by LBo on Feb 3, 2010 1:52 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not defending Chael here, but...

Don’t take away his win because Paulo has decided to waste his life on drugs/insanity/whatever.

It would be no different than if Paulo had simply not shown up to fight due to lack of training, etc…and Chael did show up to fight.

Regardless, Chael needs to keep his mouth shut, his attempts to kiss ass to MMA powers, be it Zuffa or Randy, etc…are pretty transparent and sad.

by Razreshat on Feb 3, 2010 2:17 PM EST up reply actions

I sincerely hope this wasn’t a Limp Bizkit reference.

I like when he gives quotes like this...

…as opposed to when he’s relatively reasonable because this way I CAN CONTINUE TO HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM.

I used to be a fan of Chael’s, but this kind of shit is causing me to lose respect for him.

by kenpoboy67 on Feb 3, 2010 11:46 AM EST reply actions

total opposite for me,this kind of shit actually makes me pay more attention to him. He plays the role of the heel just great.

by Shocbomb on Feb 3, 2010 12:18 PM EST up reply actions

It’s one thing to start shit with someone you are fighting or at least have a chance of fighting one day, to talk trash on a guy who fights in a higher weight class and is a UFC hall of famer is just a cheap way of trying to get attention, nothing more.

by ufc4 on Feb 3, 2010 1:26 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

This was nothing compared to what he said in that interview about Marquardt, Andersen Silva, Dan Henderson, Greco Roman wrestling, and the “real reason” Maia was able to sub him.

Please MMA gods, PLEASE...........

let Marquardt kick this guys ass for three rounds. I wanna see a Penn/Diego type beat down. Please Nate shut this douche bag up!

by Red Dragons on Feb 3, 2010 12:19 PM EST reply actions

Straight out of west linn

I would hate him, but he’s basically from Portland, and the /b/tard in me loves a good troll, so I guess I’m a fan.

by tichbou on Feb 3, 2010 12:23 PM EST reply actions

Sonnen is trying too hard to sell himself for a title match. I guess he is trying to avoid the Okami treatment by having a personality. I hope Marquardt destroys him.

by vivero on Feb 3, 2010 12:26 PM EST reply actions

And another thing.....

Who is he calling a bum? This is a guy who couldn’t finish a bat shit crazy Paulo Filho! Plus what the hell as he ever really won? Coleman is a UFC Champ, a Pride Grand Prix Champ and a over all game changer in MMA’s history. Now I’m not being a nut hugger here but please, before you sart trash talking everyone else mabye you should build a name for yourself……IMO

by Red Dragons on Feb 3, 2010 12:31 PM EST reply actions

No kidding. Not to mention Coleman can kick his ass. Chael is what turns people away from MMA. Boring ass style, and loud mouth that can back up what he says. UFC needs to cut him.

by MrJobro on Feb 3, 2010 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Why, you got someone else you’d rather see take a beating? Come on now, Chael’s a good fighter with a big mouth. Perfect foil for Marquardt.

by Kwisatz Haderach on Feb 3, 2010 2:21 PM EST up reply actions

Not a coleman fan here...

but Sonnen is a total D-Bag. If you arent exciting or good enough to have people talking about you, you might as well act like White Tito

by SilverNBlackZach! on Feb 3, 2010 12:53 PM EST reply actions

I don't know why he is getting press every time he opens his mouth

But thanks for posting that picture. He looks pretty good with his arm tweaked and grimacing in pain.

by SimplePsych on Feb 3, 2010 1:03 PM EST reply actions

i dislike nate marquardt,

but now i’m really looking forward to seeing him smash sonnen’s face when they fight

by theblade on Feb 3, 2010 1:19 PM EST reply actions

I'm OK with Nate

But Chael bashing the champion of his own division is “alright” but he’s not fighting Coleman, Coleman like alot of ppl have said, Coleman is a legend of the biz, Chael has done nothing for the sport and he’s just trying to gain attention…..and its working because we’re all talking about it

by Takun on Feb 3, 2010 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

I love trolls...

Maybe that is why I get excited everytime I see a headline with Chael’s name in it. I know that it will be an entertaining story/quote with a TON of post’s of ppl saying how much they hate him… He is a brilliant marketer. Nobody would know who he was or talk about him at all if it wasn’t for his “trash talking”… You go Chael!

by mrnice on Feb 3, 2010 6:24 PM EST reply actions

Little ass Sonnen, you better keep your ass down at 185 buddy

by StevenGiles on Feb 3, 2010 6:39 PM EST reply actions

Oh Chael lol. This guy is an interviewer’s dream! Ask this dude about anything and he gives you ammo.

Chael, I typically have your back, but not here. Why even talk about Coleman. Not worth it. Hope he’s focused on Nate. I’m starting to wonder. He talks about everything but Nate.
