Fedor might not fight in April or May:
"Fedor Emelianenko, the world’s No. 1-ranked heavyweight, will not appear on the April [CBS] card. Emelianenko’s proposed bout with Fabricio Werdum has been pushed to May [on Showtime]. However, multiple sources are indicating that the stoic Russian could be absent from both events as his management attempts to re-tool terms of Emelianenko’s existing contract with Strikeforce."

This is getting bad. M-1 is making fools out of Scott Coker and Strikeforce.

Suge Knight hung Vanilla Ice off a balcony. The Russians are hanging Scott of a balcony right now.
Scott is the Vanilla Ice of MMA.

Ok really, who's runnin the show? This is up there w/ Ed Soares saying "No...he's not good enough. No..no. How's your elbow? Still hurting? No..Not good enough"
This is much worse than that
At the end of the day Silva had to fight. Not so sure Fedor will fight if they don’t get their way. Which they will.
"I will do nothing lightly. When I walk, I will walk heavily. When I fight, I will fight with conviction. When I speak, I will speak strongly. When I love, I will love with everything"
Actually, its much worse than that
Its a bunch of anxious fans busting their speculative nut on some flimsy ass, “multiple sources are indicating.”
M1 sounds like they know Strikeforce is bleeding so they are going in for the kill. Bleed every last dollar they can then eat the proverbial turnip.
Isn't everything over there potato flavoured?
Except for the vodka, which is made of potatoes anyways

Fedor shoud just say fuck it, and go fight in the dream super hulk tourney. You’d know that be awsome. Fedor smashing josé canseco, HMC, sokujew and minowaman. Would be sweet!!

Strikeforce is doomed.
They tried to get too big too fast and made some bad deals with 2 partners who only have their interests in mind, not the interests of the promotion. What both do not relaize that without the promotion the fights won’t happen. CBS is too stupid to make good MMA happen on their own and M1 is a total joke of a promotion. After Fedor flickers out M1 will go away quickly.
Strikeforce has the knowledge and ability to make great fights, but the 2 idiots they have gotten into business with are the ones behind the wheel, driving it right off a cliff.

only because
they’d never give in to m-1’s demands.
Your right. I don’t want Fedor in the UFC now. He’s going to take it down.

On a side note.....
Strikeforce lacks 2 HUGE things the UFC had while growing.
1. History. ANYONE in America who had seen MMA in the past probably watched the UFC on VHS or on PPV back in the day. MMA = UFC to them.
2. TUF. I know it’s getting REALLY overplayed but Bonner/Griffin and the superstars from Season 1 of TUF launched the UFC into the spotlight to a reality TV audience creating possibly millions of instant fans. (Guilty. I hadn’t watched MMA since UFC 2 on VHS.)
What can Strikefroce do to overcome breaks like that that the UFC STARTED with. There has to be something that none of us can see right now that is going to happen to break Strikeforce out of obscurity. Without some major event happening, SF is going to die pretty soon. At least they are going to lose their CBS deal and at best just go back to a San Jose local promotion.
What can Strikefroce do to overcome breaks like that that the UFC STARTED with.
Um, I don’t think I would call smart marketing a “break.” The UFC positioned themselves to be synonymous with MMA to the casual fan and then wisely made a deal with Spike to create a reality show further marketing their sport to a new group of fans. That is just good business, not a break.
The way TUF ended was a serious break......
If all the fights were LNP fests the UFC would not be where it is today. I hate even saying it cause it’s getting so old, but Bonnar/Griffin was so huge and had nothing to do with marketing.
LOL at "retooling" your contract after ONE FIGHT
You just signed the contract less than six months ago, you sneaky Russian bastards!
New terms:
1) Fedor gets to eat ice cream in between rounds.
2) Coker must walk Vladim’s dog. Dog will not shit on it’s own lawn.
3) Coker must do truffle shuffle to entertain M-1 during meetings.
4) All Strikeforce broadcasts will now be done in Russian.
5) 4oz gloves are too sharp. Find new gloves yes?
6) Jerry Millen now gets to ride shotgun at all times
7) Strikeforce will hand over 75% of all revinue from all Fedor shows.
8) Strikeforce will cover costs with their reamaining 25%

Coker: Then will you sign the bout contract?
Vadim: Ice cream……..

The new terms of the contract are as follows- Ben & Jerry’s is the new main sponsor of Strikeforce. Their logo will appear in the middle of the mat and on all SF promotional material and Strikeforce will receive no compensation. Fedor will receive unlimited free ice cream from B&J’s for the remainder of his contract.
M-1 also demands that all Ben & Jerry’s ice cream be sold in co-promotion with M-1, and that Ben & Jerry’s builds and ice cream themed stadium in Russia
Also, Ben & Jerry’s will be renamed Vadim & Jerry(Millen)’s.
by ufc4 on Feb 26, 2010 9:27 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
You know his real name is Gary, right? Not trying to be a dick, just thought everyone should know that by now. He changed it to Jerry because it makes him sound cool? I think?

WHY
Does this have to be so God damn hard. Sign a contract then fight thats it. Fedor is my favorite but these fun and game tatics are wearing on me. Dump M-1 already not everything Russian is cool.
anyone read this?
SI.com: What is it about your business model with Strikeforce that leads you to believe it will be successful for mixed martial arts? And has it been effective so far in terms of holding events, making money, being sustainable?
Goddard: We are making money. We believe it is sustainable. We believe we’ve got the right combination of expertise in the MMA business and business acumen, business sense. We are operating in a business-like way from the beginning. From the beginning we are making money, and we expect both the revenues and profits to grow over time. For that reason we believe it’s very sustainable. We think there’s plenty of room in the MMA business given the growth of the MMA industry for perhaps a second or even other participants. We’re excited about both the live-event business and the broadcast business. The growth of the sport and our role in that. We think we’re poised to be a leader in that industry.
SI.com: As a brand, how much value does Strikeforce have right now? How much has it grown since SVS&E’s involvement?
Goddard: We think it’s got a lot of value at the present time, especially among the core MMA audience. We do believe it needs more exposure and more recognition. We need to grow the exposure and recognition among the general sporting audience. We think both the live events help that on a market-by-market basis. Certainly the events on Showtime have helped that. And the broadcasts on CBS helped that immensely. We acknowledge that we need to grow that in the general viewing audience

SI.com: Some of the critics of the way Strikeforce is operated say there are too many chefs in the kitchen, so to speak. Decisions are slow to get made. What would you say to those critics?
Goddard: I would simply disagree. Scott is running the company on a day-to-day basis. He has the authority to make decisions that need to be made. We’re in regular communication with each other so we can reach each other on a moment’s notice. We compare notes regularly. Whenever you’re starting and/or growing a business in its early stages, there are complexities. Both with live events and broadcast events there complexities. The fact of the matter is things are not necessarily as easy as they may appear to be from the outside. There are complexities which sometimes take time and effort to work through.

did anyone see the Q&A with dana last week?
I womder if this anything to do with what he had to say about Fedor? He sounded like he had a secret. hmmm He said he is confident fedor will be fighting in the ufc soon. Who the hell knows, he always says that. But maybe just maybe this might be good news for the UFC.
Yup. And I’m fired up that Dana’s talking him up, and expressing interest in getting him into the UFC soon. Please, please, please let us get what we want…

seriously how do you try and “retool” an contract after one fight, and the ink is already dry?
On the table you see a scale model of the new NEOPALITON outdoor arena!! To be built in starsky oskol Russia!! Built to he 8 times the size of the ferrari arena!!!!!

Yay, finally some the destruction of Strikeforce is being played out. I was tired of wondering what was happening behind the scenes to make them go down. Now we’re starting to get some of the play by play.
We always get hints that something is up before promotions go under. We’ve seen this before.

I thought M-1 said they would be happy with a true 50-50 co-promotion. Sounds like maybe they realized getting half the net profits from a Strikeforce/M-1 co-promotion just isn’t what they thought it would be.
Just BE.
Maybe M1 has to
actually pay!!! I would laugh my ass off if this is true.
i hope scott coker
doesn’t give in to this shit,
i love fedor, but this is ridiculous
i wonder if this is m1 trying to get fedor out of a contract so that he can fight in japan vs
lesser opponents, because there is no way fedor can fight for the ufc while his contract with SF is in effect, I mean, would the UFC risk a restraining order just to sign fedor?
