I like Dan Hardy, but he’s never fought anyone at Georges St. Pierre’s level before. I had almost forgotton that Frank Mir was even fighting Shane Carwin with all the crap he’s been talking about killing Brock Lesnar. It’s almost like he’s looking past Carwin, I hope Carwin beats his assssss.
Got to fight the best sometime might as well be now. Hardy has a small chance to win but a chance is a chance. He is still young and win or lose will take a lot away from this fight. Plus he has personality to make this fight seem much bigger than it acctually is. Mir vs Carwin may be over looked but who it leads to is not. Anything dealing with Brock is huge. Best card since 100 by far IMO. At least as Main two fights go
"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him a year ago. I pulled it out of him and I beat him over the head with it." Brock Lesnar
He's got the power...
…but not the technique or the ground skills. I’m confident Mir is going to take it home.
Get rid of the ramp!
Carwin has very good submission defense and is tough to hold down. Mir’s going to have to catch him with a counter or something funky like a kneebar.

We can't blame him

There is nobody at GSP’s level at WW, except… GSP.

That might be the most lopsided title fight I can remember. Silva was only a -525 favorite over Leites.
I must say...
This trailer is pretty frickin awesome!
Agreed! They’ve step up the production a bit.

Undoubtedly
I’ll probably wait until closer to fight time, I’m sure the money is going to go Alves’ way based on Fitch’s last fight.
Then: $$$KERCHING$$$
Get rid of the ramp!
Not me.
It’s close for sure, but I think Alves has improved a bit more since they fought. I don’t see Fitch being able to finish him this time out, and Fitch has always been a slow starter. I anticipate him losing the first round, and I don’t like the chances of him being able to win both of the last two.
All just my opinion of course, and lord knows I’ve been wrong before.
50% more Ultimate than the leading competitor.

Beyond stoked that I’m going to be going to this.

I am going to watch this in a movie theater. I feel that GSP vs Hardy is one sided in favor of GSP. However, I am going with Frank Mir and Thiago Alves to win their respective bouts, but both those fights could easily go the other way. I also have a hard time predicting the winner of Saunders vs Ellenberger. Ellenberger has some heavy hands and a good wrestling game, but Saunders is no slouch especially with that thai clinch and knees. I will go with Ellenberger, but Saunders can win this just as well.
I am going to watch this in a movie theater.
I’m seriously considering doing that, too. Granted it’ll cost $25 more than I usually pay to watch the fights, but I’m damn interested to see how the fights look on the big screen.

Joo Pirate? What does it cost at the theaters, I thought it’d be like a normal movie ticket.

If he feels threatened by Hardy's standup, he can easily take him down and do this to him

"Call that Amber Lamps"
Since he is weighing in at like195 now days if he doesn’t put him to sleep………I wont be mad I will just be. …….disappointed .

..sure he will be trying to
read somewhere that GSP was disappointed with his lack of KO’s, or something to that effect, and was working more on that aspect of his game recently. I would’nt be shocked if GSP came out throwing bombs at Hardy trying to finish him on his feet.

after seeing GSP throw a superman punch/left leg kick combo(maybe the other way around)… I have pretty much been a believer in his stand up. I have always questioned his finishing on his feet though, granted he fights some of the toughest guys out there you would think he could manage to slip a true KO somewhere in there?I think this is the main reason I have never been a really big fan of his, I never doubt he will win a fight because he is great…he is just so boring to watch.

Not everyone has true one-punch KO power, and very few do at the lower weight classes. GSP gets subs, he gets TKOs, and he goes to decision against some incredibly tough opponents. He finished BJ Penn (which is incredibly hard to do), finished Hughes with a TKO and a sub, beat holy hell out of Serra for a TKO in under 2 rounds, and might well have finished Alves had he not blown out his groin. As for Kos, I get the feeling he was intentionally testing his wrestling against one of the best at 170, and he went the distance with Fitch who hasn’t been finished since 2002 when he was fighting at light heavy. GSP relentlessly passes guard, mixes striking and ground work almost seamlessly, pushes the pace, is fast as hell, and throws superman punches, spinning back kicks, and ridiculous knees to the body from the ground. What exactly does he have to do to be “exciting” to you?
You don’t have to like every fighter or find any of them exciting, but it may well be a matter of personal taste; if you just don’t like watching GSP, fine, but he’s not in any objective sense “boring”.
Love your sig, though.

The thing is I don’t dislike GSP, I think he is the second best fighter walking around right now. That being said when I watch his fights, I cannot get into them. I’m not sure if it is because he makes opponents seem slow, unskilled, weak or what it is but the fights he is in do not seem that exciting to me. I do find flashes of excitement in his fights though i.e: Vs. Alves with his sick double leg takedowns and Matt Hughes when he trapped both arms and got the verbal sub, the Penn superman punch, and the Superman/left kick combo mentioned earlier in the post.
What exactly does he have to do to be "exciting" to you?
Not sure, Head Kick KO??? …really though I have no clue.
Love your sig, though
Danke

Not sure, Head Kick KO???
He basically had one of those in his second fight with Hughes. Stunned Hughes and knocked him down with a head kick (Hughes did not remember the blow after the fight) and finished him with a couple of punches on the ground.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
true, I was thinking more along the lines Gonzaga/CroCop…plus the whole statement was made jokingly.

Nah, not really.
Are they still doing UFC Primetime for it?
I'm gonna make a bold prediction here and say Cain "pillowhands" (as some of you have called him) lol Velasquez catches Nog right on the chin and finishes via strikes on the ground. Nog looked good against an old Randy. It didn't show me much. We’ll see.

really?
Compare it to the last few promos. They all have been crappy compared to this. (and I hope you’re not comparing a promo to a TV show, yet alone the Primetime show)
by Anton Tabuena on Feb 25, 2010 8:57 PM EST up reply actions
Seems like you guys read my mind about the promo
Looks much better than average. I really can not wait for this card. I have never been more confident in the winner of a fight than I am for GSP and Hardy. I think because GSP was knocked out by Serra, he will never have an upset like that again, even if he decides to stand with Hardy. I hope he does, to shut a few people up about his standup.
I honestly didn’t think this promo looked all that good. Somehow the pacing seems off. The other thing they do is run a clip of Hardy throwing a sloppy back kick that misses.
I noticed that too
Is it wrong for me to say that they haven’t done enough to really promote Dan Hardy to your randoh UFC fan before getting this title shot? Cause it seems like they were really fishing for some drama.
