Stephan Bonnar to contest UFC 110 loss:
"It's only fair to get this overturned to a no contest or draw," Bonnar said. "In the rules, if after two rounds a fighter suffers a cut from an illegal blow, they go to the scorecard. The judges had it one round a piece, which would have made it a draw."
"Right after (it) happened, I pointed to my head and told him, 'Head butt,'" Bonnar said. "Why he didn't look up at the replay, which they showed about 30 times, I have no idea."
"Dana White just told me it was a great fight and sorry I got screwed like that," Bonnar said.
"I have never been wronged so bad in a situation that was so obvious," he said. "I still can't understand the referee. Yes, I will appeal this decision. I just want what is fair."

Even K-Sos said it was a headbutt during the post fight interview, I see no reason why it wouldnt be changed to a NC
When Anthony Johnson got eye poked by Kevin Burns and lost because of it, he and his camp tried to appeal the decision but the decision stayed due to “lack of remedy.” I found that ridiculous especially since there is video evidence for the foul. I am guessing the same will probably happen to Bonnar, which if that does happen, is a real shame.

It’s not ridiculous, you can’t just change the rules.
It’s like those calls in the NFL that are clearly wrong, but are not subject to review. You can’t change it unless there’s a rule that says you can change it. NSAC doesn’t have a rule saying they can change the result of a fight due to referee error.
Well you can't end a game because of a foul in football
Only the clock can. Also, you can’t exactly call a game a no contest. This isn’t really comparable to other sports.

You missed the point.
The point is, if there is no rule that you can change something, you can’t change it.
you can have 1 million replays showing a runner is safe in a baseball game, if the ump says he’s out, he’s out. If he would have been the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, and then the team lost the game in the 10th inning, mlb isn’t going to overturn the decision after, because they can’t. Just like video tape showing that the cut from a head butt can’t overturn the decision unless there is a rule saying they can.
I’m surprised the judges had it 1 round for each guy, K-Soz looked like he was winning each of those rounds…

All 3 judges had it 1-1 in rounds?
Either way, he’s already got to live with the ‘K’ from the headbutt, he shouldnt have to live with the ‘L’ too.
majority draw
2 judges had it 19-19. 1 had ir 20-18 for K-Sos.
He’s right. With instant replay, there’s no reason this shouldn’t be a NC instead of a TKO loss for Bonnar. And Bonnar could really use anything but another L at the top of his record.

It might be like a NFL review where the evidence has to be conclusive.
Right after the headbutt it looks like Sos throws an elbow that grazes his head. I don’t doubt that the headbutt caused the damage but the judges might not see it that way.

The event was regulated by an Australian body. They don’t allow themselves to use instant replay. I highly doubt this event will make them rethink their decision. Unfortunately for Bonnar the L will probably stand, like the L’s of Riley (vs. Nelson, shit stoppage) and Rumbe (eye poke vs. Burns)

Bonnar was losing the fight,
ref can’t help with the scorecards.
If they went to the scorecards
the result would’ve been majority draw

how can you say that?
For it to be a majority draw 2 judges would have to score the third round 10-10.
I meant if they went to the scorecards after two rounds.

that is in no way a possibility, and still, for a majority draw, you’d need 2 to score it a draw, but all 3 had it a draw.
Doesn’t the round need to pass the halfway point to be scored in such an instance? Cerrone kneed Varner at 3:10.

well, he said a round can’t be scored before it’s over, that round was scored and not over.
The Nevada rules say nothing about time of the foul, just which round it is in
“the outcome must be determined by scoring the completed rounds and the round during which the referee stops the contest or exhibition.”
Considering that the fight occured outside the U.S.
who would the appeal go through?
Was their an Australian sanctioning body working this fight?
I believe I read somewhere that if a foul happened just as it did in this fight the 3rd round would have to have been scored anyway. So if it was 1-1 after 2 rounds whoever was winning the third would have gotten the decision. I could be wrong but I am almost sure I read that the fight should have been stopped and then all 3 rounds scored.
Yeah, I'd agree with Bonnar...

and steroid users just get suspended while Nick Diaz’s win gets turned into a No Contest. I think the Athletic Commissions are secretly Credit Card Company’s.

Seriously who cares if there is one more l in his records. Fights that he is in are entertaining and thats all that matters to ufc and viewers. He doesen’t have to worry about his contract. It’s not like he had chance for title shot or ever will.
