Frank Mir can perform fatalities in this game.

Early contender for post of the year.
The Seattle Times linked to my website in June 2009. I wasn't aware of this until January 2010.

Submission Switching! That looks like a great new addition to the game
Side note: Really hope they change the background music, I’m sick of it.
by MikeD32
I’ll buy it regardless but it looks very similar to 2009.
by coleko
He’s right, it looks like an updated 09. But I’ll probably get it anyway and lose to all the guys who walk around blocking and throw overhand rights ONLY.
As for the music….I mean, we can only get so much
You guys can't expect more than that
Look at all games that get a yearly iteration
Nothing much changes year to year. That’s just how it is. They just make one or two changes that are JUST enough to make the last version obsolete.
That’s how the market works!
I personally hate the yearly thing, it just means people are going to always buy it no matter what.
I guess some people just aren't aware of how this works
After years of playing the Smackdown series I know about what to expect. Every year there’s going to be the updates and improvements that hold you over at first but overtime little things are going to start creeping up and becoming bigger problems that you have to wait and hope that they improve the next year. Regardless I’ll probably be getting this when I can, but EA’s game I’d have to test drive before hand.

I’ve played the first game to death, so I’m not sure I’m going to pick this up just for an updated roster and new moves.
The improvements do look like it’ll be a formidable contender against EA though. Assuming EA’s game is actually any good, of course.
Get rid of the ramp!
wait what?
so you played the first game over and over and over, but are not interested in playing an updated version?
A 3 hour PPV cost $45 for Standard Def
An interactive experience with roughly 40-100 hours of play time costs $60
If you are a fan of MMA and play video games at any leisure level, this is a layup, yearly.

what i mean is...
….the game doesn’t look different enough to warrant me playing another 100+ hours. It’s nothing to do with money, I just don’t see a huge amount of value in playing through another ufc game that’s not massively different. I got other games to play!

Madden has subtle changes year to year and look at the cash cow that has turned out to be. Don’t expect them to make wholesale changes right off the bat, why put everything into 1 game. They stand to make more money dragging things out, knowing we will buy it.
"Call that Amber Lamps"
Madden has been the only choice for NFL gamers since 2006
For what it’s worth they had really stiff competition from ESPN NFL 2k5 (I contend this is the best football game ever) and then EA took the licensing rights all for themselves. Unless sales dramatically drop they could get away with making 1 change per year knowing they have the whole market cornered.

Seattle is so awesome.
No surprise I agree with a fellow Seattlite here.
ESPN NFL 2K5 blew Madden away in my book. Madden never does anything that stands out and STILL hasn’t added some of the awesome features that ESPN had.
EA Sports is like this all the time though…they barely changed anything outside rosters and a couple animations. I have their college football game from 09, and ’10 is ridiculously similar. I figured if im gonna get the same game, ill just pay 30 bucks less for an older one…its not like college games can use real names.
I dont trust EA at all. i know they have several development groups doing various titles, but EA is too money hungry and borderline lazy these days. I was scared to death when they put their tag on the Burnout and Timesplitters series’.
its simply impossible and irresponsible to designa nd create a brand new engine for a new UFC game. Tweaking the 2009 engine to include necissary changes is exactly what I was hoping for. They are attempting to build a brand, not release a one off epic.
Would you rather play UFC 2010 with new, well needed updates or wait until 2012 for a completely revamped engine? Frankly, that second option is senseless if there is a market for a yearly release a la Madden, and clearly there is. Video Games & MMA are damn near roommates in the Males 18-25 demographic.
It would be cool of they started off career mode with you being in tuf. And hopefully they’ll have more downloads cause it sucked having to wait a year for Jon jones.

Physics still look bad. Very bad.
EA made the physics in fight night good, so we can count on them to do the same with MMA.
different developers, EA Chicago does Fight Night, the Tiburon team is doing MMA. Tiburon does the Madden, Nascar and Tiger series among others. I wouldnt expect them to come out the box with flawless animations, you really need a full release cycle to flesh out your engine, since no one is willing to sit on a near finished product for substantial beta testing anymore 9save online mulitplayer based games)

np, EA is a massive umbrella company at this point. They have swallowed up so many talented smaller companies and franchises that there can be huge swings in talent and quality from project to project. All the early reports were that the Nascar team is working on the MMA game. This was spun as “omg they put their best people on this project, check out how MMA is growing”, but in reality EA & Nascar’s contract is set to expire and sales for the franchise have stagnated.
They are a good team, but they arent exactly trained in combat sports. Im sure they are doing their due diligence, but it took that Chicago team years and years to get Fight Night looking amazing and that doesnt involve any grappling or ground work. If EA remains committed, they could have a mind blowing product in a few years. The real test is to see how much THQ and Yuke’s can push the UFC engine in the following years. Their track record isnt exactly inspiring, but they do have the WWE background at least.

EA CHICAGO was shut down in late 2007.
EA MONTREAL handled FightNight Rd 4….

I also dont think we can underestimate how much THQ wants to do a new game. They practically stumbled into a cash cow, and the value of something like that to a developer like THQ is massive. THQ wasnt exactly burning up the sales charts with its other releases in the last few years.
If UFC went to THQ and said “design us a brand new game for release sometime in 2011 or 2012”, they probably would have flipped a shit.

I hope they do a better job on attributes also..
Last year they had alot of mess ups. Bisbing ko power standing, Cain ko power standing and ground, wand too little power, sherk too much power , mir better ground game than nog, etc
Wish we BE posters could give our input on those attributes at least in a A>B format. Surely they could use people like us for help
