It’s probably an MMA bout, the guy doesn’t exist according to Wiki and Sherdog.

he’s still defending his title in may, right?

Hahahaha

This is just getting embarrassing for STRIKEFORCE. Dude fought 6 times from Sept. 2009-December 2009. Yet he always seems to have an excuse for them when it comes to being back in the US. No way he makes a May show.

Given that the banner says OCTAGON, I’m guessing this is an MMA match.

There are K-1 matches on this card

Yeah, but I am assuming that Overeem isn’t going to go from fighting the best kickboxers in the world to fighting some unknown.

His MO for the last year has been to fight elite guys in kickboxing and chumps in MMA. I am assuming this is just a continuation of that theme.

Probably, but what’s the difference anyway. I can’t find any info about this dude’s fights in either K-1 or MMA.

its official he’ll never fight in the us again

Overeen has to be juiced up...

That has to be why he wont fight in the US. Either that or he like to be a big fish in a small pond.

That’s why you have to love the UFC.

This is stupid.

He’s doing exactly what he said he would be doing. Taking an outside fight in April and being able to return to SF in early summer.

Would you like to place a wager on him fighting for SF this summer?

by ufc4 on Feb 13, 2010 5:09 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I didn't say he would actually do it.

Just that it’s what was already planned. What’s the surprise?

You're right

Only a month ago he said he had k-1 commitments in March and April and would be available in May to fight for Strikeforce. This jibes pretty well with what he said.

Of course, what’s really disheartening is that he’s available for what looks like a small show in Bosnia but not for Strikeforce’s big CBS show the same day.

by John Nash on Feb 14, 2010 3:35 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

the problem is that “what was already planned” was Overeem fighting in “early 2010,” then “first quarter 2010,” and now this.

So I’ve found nothing on the internet about his opponent, but Google translator gives the first paragraph as thus:

On the occasion of the great Ultimate Fight spectacle that will happen 24th April in Sarajevo today in the Olympic Hall in Zetra Sports Center Café, with many journalists held press conferences at which the BH. presented to the public big names K-1 and MMA sport.

I guess (?) this means its an MMA bout, which makes sense because he seems to fight top K-1 competition and complete nobodies in MMA

As I wrote earlier..

I believe there will be K-1 bouts on this card. I don’t see Stefan Leko fighting MMA.

Oh, and on the note of him fighting only Cans in MMA, I think there’s probably a certain 47 year old prospect he’d be willing to fight…
