James Toney won't go away

Professional boxer and trash talker James Toney is at it again. His target this time, Rampage Jackson:

Professional Boxer James Toney is lobbying to get a fight with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Recently, Toney had some harsh words aimed towards Jackson in an interview with FightHype.

"The only thing that the Fake Mr. T has to do is sign the contract. Rampage is a decent club fighter and if he thinks his club fighting style can match my skills, then he is crazy as hell."

And then there is this little gem:

"Is he mad because I called him an Uncle Tom or because I said Detroit wouldn't accept him?" laughed Toney. "My boy said Rampage stayed in his room and they were in Auburn Hills. They knew better than to go to the D where I'm from. I will go on record and say he is not dumb enough to stand and trade with me."

"Machida almost knocked him out, so what do you think I would do to him? Rampage is a black redneck. I ain't hard to find, sign the contract."

I can't imagine that Dana White wants to go down this road again but MMA's boxing stalker doesn't seem to want to go away quietly. As for Rampage, well of course he wants the fight. Apparently MMA fans were naughty for Christmas because instead of toys Santa stuck James Toney in our stockings.

Dana only signed Toney vs Couture to assuage the ego of insecure MMA fans so they could say "MMA > boxing"

as well as stroke his own ego. No one believed for a second that Randy would even stand with Toney and that’s why it didn’t draw. We knew Couture wouldn’t throw a punch and would just take him down. That’s why boxing fans didn’t buy it. That’s why hardcores didn’t really buy it. If that had been setup for Rampage vs Toney, that would’ve been a much more marketable fight. Rampage uses his standup and people would believe that he would actually stand with Toney, thus giving Toney a chance.

This is before you even get into the question of James Toney's ability to make weight

Because after last time, I can see the UFC having the upper hand in wanting Toney to have to drop to 205 before even considering this.

Agree about Toney's weight issues

Maybe I’m crazy, but he would have a shot vs Page.

Toney’s only chance would be that Jackson decides to only use part of his weapons and fight Toney’s fight because if he wanted to just slam him to hell or take him down and beat him up then Toney couldn’t do much about it(ok maybe not slam his bulk). If Rampage decided to just box with him then yea Toney would be in there.

Toney would be a fool not to fish around for another half-a-mill payday.

I don't know much - but I know that I don't.

I hope he keeps calling people out

There’s no way he gets another fight, and these insane sound bites are hilarious.

When James Toney talks I just hear the Batman TV show fight scene sound effects realized in a human voice.

Toney's a Detroit Lion

Although I wouldn’t call Memphis a paradise either.

Toney's calling out the wrong guy.

He should call out Baroni. That’d at least be competitive.

Koscheck eats it.

Toney destroys Baroni. Sure, Toney’s a one-trick pony, but Baroni’s cardio is just phony. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a jabroni spouting some jive-ass baloney.

Dana had been planning for Couture vs. Toney for years now. It was originally supposed to be Couture’s comeback fight from retirement. I doubt he lets James back in. He got what he wanted from him.

It seems that Toney blew all his UFC 118 money away.

He never got the chance to spend it

The IRS put on lien on his check the day before the fight b/c of back taxes. He never saw a dollar of that six figure purse.
