As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results and commentary for UFC: The Ultimate Fighter Finale 12. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Spike TV broadcast (9 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.
An extra No Spoiler rule for today as I ask that you keep conversation about Strikeforce's event in the Strikeforce post and TUF Finale conversation here to allow for those who are DVR'ing one event or the other to remain "unspoiled."
The Spike broadcast is live. First fight up shortly.
Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan - Round 1 - Garcia and Phan trade big shots with Garcia's back against the fence but it looked like Leonard got the better of it. Phan is chasing and Garcia misses with the big overhand right. Jab lands for Garcia and then two shots that miss. Nice body kick by Phan so Garcia lands one of his own. Right hand by Garcia. Great combination by Phan. Poor form by Garcia means a hard counter by Phan lands. Garcia keeps throwing the winging punches and Phan is just using much more simple technique to land jabs to the head and body. Phan with a nice accurate combination, Garcia wings back and misses all of his shots so of course the announcers talk about how much heart Garcia has. Phan clearly won this round in my eyes, but I'm sure the judges will give it to Garcia...that's what always happens.
Round 2 - Garcia goes to the body with the left nicely and now Phan is landing the crisp shots. Garcia with a nice leg kick and now he eats a left, now a body kick, now another left. Garcia shooting now and trying to get the takedown. Phan badly hurts Garcia. He's unloading. Side kick knocks Garcia down and Phan is on top landing hard shots. Garcia gives up his back and one hook is in. Second hook in. Phan having trouble getting the choke locked in. Looked like Garcia tapped but the ref didn't stop it. The round ends and I think it was absolutely a 10-8 round for Phan as he was extremely close to finishing it.
Round 3 - Garcia throwing a lot of strikes, nothing really landing but now he shoots in. Phan's face is covered with blood from a cut on the side of his head. Garcia can't get the takedown he shoots for and he is exhausted now. Phan is opening up now and Garcia is just throwing arm punches. Big uppercut by Nam. Nam is landing cleaner shots all round but I guess Garcia throwing a lot of punches probably matters more to judges. Why do I feel like we're about to see Garcia pull off another theft? 10-9 Phan on my card makes it 30-26.
Official Scorecard: 29-28 Garcia, 30-27 Phan, 29-28 Garcia. Leonard Garcia wins by split decision. That was absolute robbery. That is horrid.
Johny Hendricks vs. Rick Story - Round 1 - Hendricks lands a nice right hand (he's a southpaw) and now lands another hard left. Hendricks clinches him up but Story gets separation. Round 2 - Story throws a lot of punches, only landing to the body, and he gets a takedown. Hendricks tried for a guillotine but couldn't finish. Hendricks manages to get to his feet. Both men have landed a few punches this round, now Story charges in with the takedown. Hendricks manages to get up but he lost that round 10-9.
Round 3 - Hendricks shoots and Story catches a guillotine. He can't finish and stays on top as Hendricks tries to drive for a takedown. Story looking for a kimura. Hendricks still pushing for the takedown and landing punches to the body. Hendricks really sticking to him looking to finish the takedown. Hendricks almost switches to a guillotine in a scramble but again is going for the takedown. Johny keeping him pushed into the cage looking for a takedown. Hendricks briefly had the takedown and Story stands up. Hendricks kneeing to the legs now. The round ends and I'd go 10-9 Hendricks giving him a 29-28 win. But a 29-28 Story win wouldn't upset me.
Official Scorecards:29-28 across the board all for Rick Story. Fair enough...
Kendall Grove vs. Demian Maia - Round 1 - Maia with a nice left hand but Grove connects as well. Nice left again by Maia. Grove comes forward with a few straight punches and now another flurry. Maia really needs to get this to the ground. And now he drops for a leg and gets the takedown. Maia trying to pass. Grove manages to stand up and Maia drags him back down. Now Grove stands up again. Maia tries to take the back standing. Maia with another takedown and he's in half guard. Maia passes to mount and lands some punches. Maia really opening up and Grove gives up his back. Scramble by Grove and he's got Maia back in half guard. Maia opening up with strikes again and now Maia takes his back again. Grove tries to roll out again and this time Maia keeps his back. Grove tries for an upkick and Maia uses it to roll him and take the back. Maia working for the choke but Grove is defending well with half a minute left in the round. Maia throws some punches and Grove is covering up. 10-9 Maia again.
Round 3 - A couple nice straight right hands by Grove. They're standing for the first half of the round but not a ton happening. Nice right hand by Maia and now a left. Jab by Maia. Grove is just too tired to do anything in the stand up and he's getting beaten there. Maia shoots and Grove really fighting hard to stay standing. There's the bell 10-9 Maia for the sweep on my card.
Official scorecards: 29-28 across the board for Demian Maia.
Stephan Bonnar vs. Igor Pokrajac - Round 1 - Igor tries to come forward with punches and Bonnar tries to take him down. Bonnar with some nice body punches, so he gets warned about low blows. A few nice punches by Igor now. Igor drops down and Bonnar locks up a tight guillotine. Bonnar is on top in side control now. Bonnar with a few nice punches once he's pulled into full guard. Bonnar passes quickly to side control again. Hard elbows to the body by Bonnar. Igor gives up his body again. The round ends and it was easy 10-9 Bonnar.
Round 2 - Bonnar tags Igor as he comes in throwing punches. Bonnar presses Igor into the cage and now has the Thai plum and he lands a hard series of knees. Igor reverses and pushes Stephan into the cage. Bonnar with a very nice takedown into side control. Bonnar is cut from something, it may have been an illegal knee. Round 3 - After the commercial they say that Igor had a point deducted for the illegal knee which makes round 2 10-8. Bonnar with a quick takedown and he's working the ground and pound. Bonnar really letting his hands go. Nice pass to side control. Bonnar slips off and Pokrajac is on top briefly but he goes for the arm. Bonnar attacks the shoulder with strikes and is warned for it...for...some reason. Bonnar passes to side control again. Bonnar lands a few punches but they were sort of to the back of the head. The round ends. 9-9 round. 29-26 Bonnar.
Official scorecards: 29-26 across the board. Stephan Bonnar wins by unanimous decision.
Michael Johnson vs. Jonathan Brookins - Round 1 - Both men exchanging punches early and both men landing. Brookins has Johnson pushed against the cage and he's trying to get the takedown. Johnson avoids and gets back to distance. Left hand by Brookins but a harder one by Johnson. Huge right by Johnson and Brookins goes down. Johnson tries to follow up but they end up standing again. Nice left by Johnson and he's owning this fight. Johnson throws him down and is looking for a guillotine but they're back to standing. Huge uppercut by Johnson. Brookins can't get the takedown and that's going to mean a lot of trouble. Brookins almost manages to get the back in a standing scramble. Uppercut by Brookins and Johnson with a nice two punch combo. 10-8 round for Johnson in my book.
Round 2 - Johnson with a hard punch early but Brookins manages to work him down to the ground. Huge ground and pound and Johnson is covering up but Brookins stops throwing punches. Now Johnson regains half guard. Brookins is dominating him with ground and pound here. Johnson does manage to regain his feet now but Brookins is trying hard to put him down. Johnson throwing elbows while defending the takedown. Nice job by Brookins to just lift up Johnson's leg until he had no choice but to go down. Brookins looking for a kimura but he doesn't have time left to get it. 10-9 round for Brookins.

Johnson is trying to get back to his feet but Brookins is controlling both of his legs. Brookins into mount now. Johnson manages to reverse and get back to his feet. Brookins takes him back down with a beautiful lateral drop and he's on top in half guard. Brookins just controlling the fight positionally and occasionally throw a few nice punches. Brookins with some hard shots at the end of the round. 10-9 Brookins again and I've got it 28-28, but realistically Brookins is getting the win.
