The battle of people UFC wants to get rid of fast!
They may both get cut even with a win :)

Man are they hurting for heavyweights.

Is the heavyweight divisions really this bad now, that we have two guys who couldn’t make it halfway through the first round of their last fight?

I’m thinking this spat of injuries has saved some jobs. I hope they resign Justin Wren from TUF.

Yeah, he beat Big Country in my opinion. Then he fought stupid against the human blanket and got punished.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
He got screwed against Roy Nelson. Am I the only one who saw it that way?

It was close; Wren definitely won Round 1.
But I thought Roy did just enough in the last two rounds to get the decision.
what last two rounds?
I saw only two rounds! Maybe my memory is failing me.

Mine might be failing me.
I thought Wren was winning early and then Roy managed to force the extra round.
It should have got at least to 3
and then the way he got cut. Oh well. Hope he will be back and rocking in the big leagues soon.

Yup
I thought he won it. That’s why I said the way he got cut. Poor guy.

So, is this actually a reflection on the state of the UFC’s HW division or did Hunt just have the best Pride contract of all time?
This isn’t as much a reflection on the HW division, but more an attempt to add more Aussie (ish) fighters to the card. They had Sinosec vs Haseman planned for the last one after all. In fact I’d argue this card is the exact reason they brought Hunt into the UFC.
I thought they brought him in because of his old PRIDE contract
Other than that I agree, I think they only put him on this card because the event is in Australia. Like they brought in as many German fighters as they could for 122.

Yeah but aren’t there a lot of Croatian people in Australia? Hence Reljic, Cro Cop and Pokrajac all fighting at UFC 110. I know Hunt ain’t Australian, but surely he’ll still get more cheers than US or Brazilian fighters

That is a horrible fight
That’s going to be disastrously awful. Hunt by KO.

Hunt by KO by default
Hunt doesn’t get knocked out and Tuchscherer….well you get the idea.

Ughhh
no one wants to watch this fight. Best outcome would be a double KO, with both being cut from the UFC.
If these two have to fight....
Do it under special rules Like the Bob Sapp fight was supposed to be..SLAP BOXING!!! At least then it will develop some real interest.
Is this a bra and panties match?

man, i like Hunt...
… but isnt he on 6 fight losing streak? what the f**k is he doing fighting on a UFC card
Shame

On all the ignorant noobs shitting on Mark Hunt, who is a goddamn legend (and no I don’t want to hear about his recent record).
by WanderleiNoooooo! on Dec 31, 2010 10:45 PM EST reply actions
You have low standards for legendary fighters then
His K-1 World Grand Prix Championship win over Francisco Filho was almost 10 years ago. His last appearance in the K-1 Grand Prix was a loss to Lebanner in 02. He fought for the Super heavyweight title for K-1 in 08 against Semmy Schilt, but got tko’d in the opening round. I mean his kickboxing record looks decent (30 wins *13ko’s-13 losses) and he has been in some wars, but that was kickboxing, and this is MMA. He’s 5-7 currently in this sport. He’s lost to Yoshida, TKO’d Dan Bobish, Split decision over Wanderlei after stepping in to replace Sakuraba which I will acknowledge as an achievement at the time (pride shockwave: 2004) And he did avenge a unanimous decision loss to Mirko Crocop back in K-1 with his split decision victory over him in 05 (pride shockwave 2005) but he has not been out of the first round since May 5th, 2005. Or to put it more bluntly he has been finished decisively in the very first round of his last 6 professional MMA bouts. Manhoef Ko’d him. Barnett, Fedor, Overeem, Mousasi all subbed him and then 16 months later he came into the UFC and got subbed by Mccorkle……in 1:03 of round 1. I’m sorry but I do not recognize anything legendary about Mark Hunt. His boxing record stands at 0-1-1 from april 2000. Aside from the Atomic Butt Drop and some close split decisions Mark Hunt has not done nearly enough to even be considered a legend. He’s some 36 year old former kickboxing champion whose run 1-1 in the past 7 years in his respective sport and is on a 0-6 run in this sport. You shouldn’t call people noobs for not wanting to see him fight on a ppv. Like I posted earlier, I just hope this fight isn’t televised, there’s more talented Aussie’s out there somewhere eating Kangaroo’s and riding Great White shark’s who would be a better representative for the local fans. Pretending Mark Hunt is something he is not is just presuming the Aussie fans are stupid and will only appreciate the fight if it’s a down under fighter. The UFC is supposed to be the best against the best am I right? That’s the whole company moto that BLAF hammers into our heads every presser. This is not a fight of the best against the best, it’s not even 2nd string material and I am honestly dissapointed in Joe Silva on this one. The only bright side is a roster slot is likely to open up for a more deserving heavyweight prospect regardless of who losses this fight.

I don’t think that Hunt’s a legend of combat sports but he’s still a K-1 WGP champion. You don’t fluke that. He deserves far more respect than many here are showing him.
Also, paragraphs are your friend, use them :)
And believe me, there’s very few, if any, local fighters more worthy of being on this card than Hunt. Noke was only the third Australian fighter to win in the UFC and only the second to win more than once. Other than Sots and Noke Australia is something like 1-15 in the UFC.
Pillow pants? WTF have you ever done except create some dumbass name and attach Nick Diaz, Bas Rutten and Saku’s quote’s to dumbass ramblings. Your pretty much like 99% of BE’s members. Keyboard warriors and fucking horrible bloogers trying to make a name off the BE with shitty blogs. And your probably not even 18.

Man...
UFC’s HW division went from impressive to… this debacle in just a few months. Crazy.

Dude
This fight has no business being on a UFC card. Not with all Dana’s talk about the best in the world and such.
"You stick a microphone in a guy's face and he calls out anybody but the champion, and Joe Silva should fax him a pink slip right then." -- Chael Sonnen.
Maybe not, but I think it is safe to assume that is is on the prelims and it will be a win for a guy they can keep around to feed to an up and coming fighter. I think there are bigger gripes to be had about the HW division.

I could have sworn Hunt was cut after his loss to McCorkle
I guess I was wrong. Good for him, I’d like to see him get a win.
