2008 Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii earned a decision win over kickboxing legend Jerome Le Banner at Dynamite!! 2010.
Ishii, looking undersized against the massive Le Banner, managed to put the striker on his back early and often and rode that positional control for most of the fight. He landed some strikes from top position but did little damage. Ishii dropped to his back and went for leg submissions in the second round and threatened with a kimura in the third.
It's unclear what is next for Ishii. He improved his record to 4-1 with the win but he seems undersized at heavyweight and a little bit too big to cut down to light heavyweight.
He also appears to be ever less appealing to Japanese fans.
